    Abstract: A splash guard and storage apparatus for use with plungers is disclosed. The apparatus includes a shield, a handle, grip, and basin. The plunger rod may be inserted through the shield, handle, and grip. The shield may be positioned along the length of the handle with the grip to block debris that might be expelled during the use of a standard plunger to unclog an apparatus such as a sink or toilet. Additionally, the shield is designed to be attached to the basin, and the apparatus further includes several locking embodiments to keep the shield attached to the basin. The basin further includes several embodiments of the base, such as the addition of dimples or ribs, to allow fresh air to circulate around the suction cup of the plunger. Additionally, a mesh weave may be inserted into the basin to allow for retention of anti-bacterial chemicals, which contact the plunger during storage.

A first brush rotates about an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the frame and is located behind the debris hopper and has a motor for rotating the brush to throw surface debris forward into the hopper. There is a second brush which is also rotatable on an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the frame, with the second brush being positioned away from the surface to be swept and in front of the first brush. There is an auxiliary sweeping lip positioned closely adjacent to the second brush, which lip and the second brush add momentum to debris swept by the main brush into the hopper, so that the hopper is more fully loaded. The improvement is especially notable when sweeping light debris such as crumpled paper, leaves, etc.

    Abstract: A foldable housing (11) for an electronic device (10) includes a body portion (12) and a flip portion (14). The flip portion (14) is rotatable joined to the body portion (12) by a relatively small hinge control mechanism (22). The hinge control mechanism (22) includes a U-shaped spring (28) having a pair of spring arms (42) and (44) between which a shaft (30) is located. As the flip portion (14) is moved, it rotates the spring arms (42), (44) around the shaft (30). Protuberances (34) and (36) on the shaft surface (32) deflect the spring arms (42), (44) to generate a force which varies with the amount of deflection and which holds the flip portion (14) in a closed position or in an open position, and allows the flip portion (14) to be adjusted from the open position to a read position selected by the user.

    Abstract: A carding machine incorporating a train of co-operating rollers (40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76), each roller incorporates angled forward (118) and backward (119) facing teeth and each roller rotates in the opposite direction to and with a surface speed substantially faster than its predecessor, thus causing in said train at least one slower input section (42, 43) and a faster output section (73, 74, 75, 76). The machine incorporates interleaved rings of teeth (14) in precise construction to increase the feed of fibers from the slower entry end of the train to take advantage of the (potentially) faster output of the fibers at the exit end of the train. The carding is done in a substantially rectangular manner as the fibers pass through the train. It is preferred that at least in the slower input section of the train each roller incorporates rings of forward-backward teeth (120, 121) which are integral with the special outer part (81) of the rollers (79).

The product is characterized by a base web and an array of discrete fastener elements protruding from at least one side of the web, the web being in a laterally stretched molecular oriented condition. After forming a preform having discrete fastener elements integral with a base web in a stretchable state, the preform is stretched in a manner that substantially increases the fastener element spacing and reduces the thickness of the base web. A machine is shown that is capable of lengthwise orienting before forming and widthwise stretching after forming, which employs controlled heating to render the product widthwise stretchable while preserving or achieving a desired shape of the fastener elements.

The latch member is biased to the engaged position, and pivots to the engaged position when a tongue is inserted into a predetermined position to engage the tongue. The lock member holds the latch member to the engaged position when the tongue and the latch member are engaged, and is able to be moved by the operational member to a position capable of canceling the engagement between the tongue and the latch member. The lock member is arranged to move only in the longitudinal direction of the buckle. Thus, the movement of the lock member is simplified to improve controlling ability of the latch member.

    Abstract: A mounting clamp for holding together metal sheets and a tool for removing the clamp. The clamp has two legs that define a clamping gap that terminates in a bore hole. The free ends of the legs are provided with bevels with an insertion angle of 20.degree. to 40.degree. relative to the clamping gap. The insertion opening has a width that is slightly larger than the width of the widest stack of sheets to be held by the clamp. The clamping gap has a height that is at least three-times the width of the clamping gap. The diameter of the bore hole is at least one-and-one-half times greater than the width of the clamping gap. The removal tool has an insertion pin arranged at one end of a handle part and can be introduced into the bore hole of the clamp with slight play. The insertion pin is provided with a slit that runs in the longitudinal direction of the handle part.
