  • Patent number: 6115927
Abstract: A system for measuring the points on a vehicle includes reference emitters fixed relative to the vehicle, electromagnetic radiation-emitting probes, a camera, and a computer. The camera senses the direction of the emitter from three different locations so the computer can triangulate to determine the position of the emitter. The position is then put onto a standard coordinate system and is compared to standard data for the type of vehicle to determine the extent of deviation of the measured point from the standard data. This provides real time data to a person who is straightening the vehicle or aligning parts of the vehicle to know when the straightening or aligning is complete.

  • Patent number: 6115945
Abstract: A construction for a shoe, particularly an athletic shoe, which includes a sole that conforms to the natural shape of the foot shoe, including the bottom and the sides, when that foot sole deforms naturally by flattening under load while walking or running in order to provide a stable support base for the foot and ankle. Deformation sipes such as slits or channels are introduced in the shoe sole along its long axis, and other axes, to provide it with flexibility roughly equivalent to that of the foot. The result is a shoe sole that accurately parallels the frontal plane deformation of the foot sole, which creates a stable base that is wide and flat even when tilted sideways in extreme pronation or supination motion. In marked contrast, conventional shoe soles are rigid and become highly unstable when tilted sideways because they are supported only by a thin bottom edge.

After the operator's index finger is inserted into the tubular fingertip covering, a layer or coating of adhesive is applied to the protective covering. During inspection, the infested hair is combed to expose lice and dislodge nits, which are then collected by adhesive contact. Because the adhesive covering is on the fingertip, the protected finger can follow the quick movements of the lice, and can collect and retrieve lice and nits from between hair follicle shafts. The fingertip covering is rolled-up or turned inside-out after use, thereby permanently encapsulating the collected lice and nits for hygienic disposal, without risk of escape or transfer to another host.

Abstract: The method of making a nylon twine wick to which the twine wick is baked to a predetermined temperature for a predetermined length of time so that the strands of the wick will remain in their established position during insertion of the wick within the soil of a potted plant and usage of the wick. Insertion of the wick is accomplished by a thin rod tool which has a sharpened point at one end and an indentation formed in the sidewall of the tool directly adjacent the sharpened point. The wick is to be temporarily secured to the tool by being wrapped around the tool at the indentation with the tool to be inserted into the soil of the potted plant with the sharpened point leading, and when inserted to the desired amount, the tool is twisted causing release from the wick and then the tool is withdrawn leaving the wick in place.

  • Patent number: 6115960
Abstract: A sheet of material exhibiting a decorative floral pattern is used as a protective plant covering in conjunction with a plurality of removable fasteners. The sheet has a peripheral edge preferably defining an area sized to permit wrapping of the sheet in full, uncut form around a single, larger plant, or cutting of the sheet into multiple pieces to wrap a plurality of smaller plants on an individual basis. A non-woven material may be used so that it will not unravel if cut into sections. The material may also be at least semi-transparent to permit floral features of the plant to show through so that the material is less conspicuous when installed. Preferably a design element defining a cell is used having an area substantially less than that of the sheet, which is then replicated in a repeating manner to permit slitting, sectioning, and installation without regard for the orientation of the design.

  • Patent number: 6115965
Abstract: A power operator raises and lowers a vehicle liftgate to open and close a vehicle rear hatch. A pair of double-acting hydraulic cylinders pivotally interconnect the vehicle and the liftgate to move the liftgate through a raise cycle and a lower cycle. First and second branches of hydraulic circuitry connect an electrohydraulic pump assembly and a hydraulic accumulator to the cylinders. A controller isolates the accumulator and causes the pump assembly to power the initial portion of the liftgate raise cycle through the first circuit branch. When the liftgate reaches a predetermined position, the controller deactuates the pump assembly and connects the accumulator to the first branch to power the remainder of the liftgate raise cycle. Fluid exhausts through the second branch to the pump assembly. The pump powers the liftgate lower cycle through the second branch, while cylinder exhaust fluid flowing through the first branch recharges the accumulator.
