  • Patent number: 6244084
Abstract: The present invention is a remote control lock device that is used with any type of rotating lock typically associated with residential homes, offices, or the like. This device can be a singular unit utilized with a dead bolt mechanism, a key operated lock or a combination of a dead bolt mechanism and key operated lock. The locking device comprises a gear assembly having an adapter coupled to the gear assembly and the conventional lock mechanism. A motor assembly is coupled to the gear assembly. Activation of the motor assembly will cause the rotation of the gear assembly. Rotation of the gear assembly will force the adapter to move, causing the conventional lock mechanism to rotate to a desired position.

  • Patent number: 6244085
Abstract: A pressing tool for connecting pipe-shaped work pieces wherein the pressing tool has a fork-shaped receiver and a clamping tool interchangeably held in the receiver by a connecting bolt. The pressing tool has two clamping jaws which can be moved toward each other. A drive motor operates the clamping tool. The connecting bolt can be pushed through bores in the fork-shaped receiver and in the clamping tool, for maintaining the clamping tool in an exchangeable position within the fork-shaped receiver. A contactless electronic tracing device is arranged in the fork-shaped receiver, which determines a relative position of the clamping jaws in relation to the fork-shaped receiver. The contactless electronic tracing device also passes a signal to either an optical warning device or an acoustical warning device.

  • Patent number: 6244086
Abstract: An alignment device to assist a user in the functional application of a hand tool. The hand tool can take a variety of forms but is preferably a dent removal tool. The alignment device is preferably retrofitable onto existing hand tools by use of a base bracket that mounts onto the handle or shank of the tool. A sight device is mounted on the device and includes a multiple degree of freedom joint. This joint allows the user to easily and quickly align the sight device to locate the work piece. The work piece can then be placed in a desired position even positioned such that it is obscured from the sight of the user. Positioning the work piece of a dent removal tool behind the opaque surface of dented sheet metal structure is a typical application. The alignment device allows the user to quickly and accurately position the work piece, behind the surface, thereby increasing the efficiency of the user.

  • Patent number: 6244088
Abstract: A roller tool for forming an outwardly projecting ridge in a pipe, which tool is usable with the chuck or power head of a conventional pipe working machine, and a carriage suitable for mounting the roller tool and other tools on the pipe working machine. The roller tool has a female roller rotatably supported on a movable frame. The frame is fixed to the carriage, which in turn is pivotally mountable on the carriage supporting rails of the pipe working machine. One rail is fully encircled by a closed socket formed in the carriage, so that the roller tool cannot spontaneously disengage from the host pipe working machine. The other rail is partially encircled by an open socket formed in the carriage. The roller tool can pivot about the closed socket between an operational position and a standby position enabling the grooving machine to be utilized for grooving with the roller tool still attached.

  • Patent number: 6244091
Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming cup-shaped metal members from a flat metal sheet in a press having a ram which moves a cut edge, draw horn and draw pad towards a base holding a blank and draw die. The draw pad is formed with an annular tapered relief area extending from its clamping surface to an annular wall of a central opening formed in the draw pad for reducing the clamping force which is exerted on a peripheral edge of the disk blank as the draw horn advances into the die opening of the blank and draw die to form the cup-shaped member. The angle of taper of the relief area is generally in the range of 4° and 10°. This tapered area reduces excess pinching of the peripheral edge of the disk blank as it moves around the die radius as the draw horn draws the disk blank into the cup-shaped member.

  • Patent number: 6244093
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a new and improved apparatus and methods for calibrating environmental air monitor. A new calibration kit comprising a gas cylinder containing calibration gas, a preset regulator valve, a flow matching valve and tubing is disclosed which overcomes many of the prior art disadvantages. The flow matching valve compensates for deviation in calibration gas flow conditions and thus eliminating the need of a sampling bag. The flow matching valve modifies the preset regulator valve by compensating loss of pressure or flow going to the sensor in the environmental air or gas monitor. In addition when an abundance of pressure or flow is transmitted to the monitor, the flow matching valve “vents-off” the excess calibration gas. A method for calibrating a gas or air monitor is also disclosed. The method and apparatus permits a laminar flow, over a sensor located in the air monitor, of constant quantity and quality that is critically necessary for calibrating air monitors.

  • Patent number: 6244103
Abstract: A method and apparatus associated with an atomic force microscope (AFM) to more accurately measure the height of a microscopic feature in a substrate, particularly one having a sloping face. The probe tip is sequentially positioned at a number of vertical positions approaching the surface being probed. At each vertical position, a vertical force encountered by the probe tip is measured, and the measured force is stored in a memory together with its corresponding vertical position. When the measured force exceeds a threshold force, the downward movement is stopped, and the accumulated force and position data are analyzed. A controller fits the data to two curves, for example, two linear relationships in force vs. height. One curve is associated with the lower forces away from the surface, the other curve with the higher forces after initial engagement with the surface. The intersection of the two curves gives the height of the feature in the surface.

  • Patent number: 6244121
Abstract: A sensor device, for diagnosing a processing system, generally includes a support platform and one or more sensors mounted on the support platform. The sensor senses a condition, such as direction or inclination or acceleration in one or two axes, of the sensor device and outputs a signal indicative thereof, which is then sent to a transmitter, also mounted to the support platform, for wireless transmission of the signal to a receiver mounted on or near the processing system. The support platform generally has physical characteristics, such as size, profile height, mass, flexibility and/or strength, substantially similar to those of the substrates that are to be processed in the processing system, so the sensor device can be transferred through the processing system in a manner similar to the manner in which production substrates are transferred through the processing system.

Abstract: Two of the three feed rings to beheld in a rotating cylinder are fitted into respective mounting holes, which are formed on both end of the rotating cylinder so as to have circular openings, and are fixed by locking rings so as not to slip off. The center feed ring is fitted into a mounting portion, which is formed at a predetermined position on a circumferential wall of the rotating cylinder so as to have a slit-shaped opening, and is engaged with a thread groove formed on a rack shaft which pierces through an axial center of the rotating cylinder. Moreover, a bearing is fitted inside the rotating cylinder. The bearing is brought into contact with a circumference of the rack shaft so as to stand a radial load applied to the rack shaft. Such a structure realizes firm engagement between the feed rings and moving shaft, and thus a movement transforming device, which has a simple and compact structure capable of secure movement transformation between rotational movement and linear movement.

Abstract: In a first embodiment of the invention, a gear ratio multiplier has directly cooperating gears which serve to rotatably connect an input shaft to an output shaft through an intermediate shaft. The input and output shafts have parallel axes of rotation and extend, respectively, from seals in opposite sides of a housing. The inner ends of the input and output shafts are spaced from one another and are each provided with a pinion gear. The intermediate shaft is rotatably carried between the pinion gears and has an axis of rotation positioned at right angles to the axes of rotation of the input and output shafts. A pair of differently sized ring gears having different numbers of teeth are affixed on the intermediate shaft. The pinion gear on the input shaft engages the relatively smaller ring gear on the intermediate shaft whereas the pinion gear on the output shaft engages the relatively larger ring gear on the intermediate shaft.
