Abstract: The exposure apparatus and the substrate processing unit is connected via an in-line I/F portion. In addition, information on the substrate carriage is communicated in between the control unit of the exposure apparatus side and the control unit of the substrate processing unit, and both units decide their next operation that contribute to improving the processing capacity related to the wafer carriage, before actually starting the operation. Therefore, the throughput of the series of wafer processing performed by the substrate processing unit and the exposure apparatus can be improved, and as a consequence, becomes possible to improve the productivity of the device. In this case, for example, information on the predicted time or the expected time when the substrate can be received or sent out is reciprocally communicated between both units.

Abstract: A document printer/copier comprises a pair of drum-support members for rotatably supporting an image-recording drum and, optionally, an intermediate image-transfer drum. At least one of such drum-support members is adapted to be decoupled from the drum(s) it supports and be moved to a position within the machine frame in which it does interfere with the replacement of the drum(s)'s outer layer. Preferably, such member comprises a selectively energizable clamp which, when energized, clamps onto an axle bearing of a drum and thereby supports the drum for rotation. When de-energized, the clamp releases the drum bearing, enabling the drum-support member to be slid axially along the drum axis to a position spaced from the drum axle, and thereafter pivoted to a position spaced from the drum axis where it does not interfere with drum servicing and/or replacement.

Abstract: In the piston type variable displacement compressor of the present invention, in the crank chamber 5 in which the crank mechanism is arranged, the outlet 28A of the gas supply passage 28, for supplying refrigerant from the discharge chamber 22, is open at an upper position of the crank mechanism in the peripheral wall section of the housing. The control valve 29 is arranged in the middle of the gas supply passage 28, so that a flow rate of the refrigerant supplied into the crank chamber 5 via the gas supply passage 28 can be adjusted. Mist-like lubricant is mixed with the refrigerant. Therefore, even when the flow rate of the refrigerant is low, the crank chamber 5 can be excellently lubricated.

Abstract: A shaft sealing assembly is located in a suction chamber of a swash plate type compressor to seal the space between a drive shaft and a housing. A first end portion of the drive shaft is supported by a first radial bearing. A second end portion of the drive shaft is supported by a second radial bearing. The suction chamber is closer to the first end portion of the drive shaft than the first radial bearing is. An axial passage is formed in the drive shaft to connect the suction chamber to the crank chamber. An inlet of the axial passage is closer to the second end portion than the second radial bearing is. An outlet of the axial passage is closer to the second end portion than the first radial bearing is.

Abstract: An exhaust-gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine has an exhaust-gas turbine in the exhaust tract and a compressor in the intake tract, the exhaust-gas turbine and the compressor being connected via a shaft which is supported in a casing of the exhaust-gas turbocharger via at least one bearing. In order to improve the efficiency of the turbocharger, the bearing has a non-contact design, in that, when the exhaust-gas turbocharger is in operation, the shaft is held at a distance from, and so as to be virtually free of friction with, a bearing receptacle fixed to the casing.

The system has a print-head formed of one or more capillary bundle, such as light-guiding capillaries. The bundles may especially be bundles of capillaries that provide a large number of probes on the surface of a substrate. Methods of registering or correlating the distal and proximal ends of the capillaries are also provided. Further, the invention provides methods and equipment for identifying defective microarrays that are missing one or more probes from the surface of the microarray.
