Abstract: An improved lantern globe infused an amber dye which blocks the visual spectrum of light an insect can see without diminishing the spectrum of light a human can see. The dye is infused into pyrex glass at approximately a 1200 F. temperature and permanently binds the expanded glass molecules to the dye. This makes the glass stronger and prevents the dye from being burned or scratched off and makes breakage less frequent. The resulting tint, after the glass is cooled, is transparent not translucent. This allows the full spectrum of light visible to humans to pass through the globe undiminished and provide a dramatically bright light source. The use of the globe replaces the need for costly and dangerous bug-repellent chemicals.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for separating grain, kernel or cereal from crop having a separating rotor operatively mounted in a rotor housing and having a rotor axis, a separating grate located between the separating rotor and the rotor housing, a plurality of frame portions operatively mounted to the separating grate, profiles operatively connected to the plurality of frame portions, and extending parallel to the rotor axis, and webs are repeatedly bent in a step-like shape and operatively mounted between the profiles and the plurality of frame portions and transverse to the rotor axis forming a sieve area for separating the grain from the crop mat. The separating grate is utilized in a combine harvester, preferably a self-propelled combine harvester. The separating grate has a plurality of frame portions operatively connected to profiles. Webs are operatively mounted between the plurality of frame portions and the profiles.

Abstract: A wire cable for window regulators of automobiles is disclosed. In the wire cable, the core strand has a double-layer twisted strand structure with an F+6+12 element wire structure, and consists of a high-strength synthetic resin filament used as a core element wire (F), six internal element wires primarily twisted around the core element wire to form an internal layer around the core element wire, and twelve external element wires secondarily twisted around the internal layer to form an external layer around the internal layer. Eight external strands, having a single-layer twisted strand structure with a 1+6 element wire structure, are twisted around the core strand to form an 8×7+(F+6+12) element wire structure of the wire cable in cooperation with the core strand. The synthetic resin filament used as the core element wire of the core strand has a diameter slightly larger than that of the internal and external element wires of the core strand.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the cooling of the casing (1) of the turbines (2, 3) of jet engines, in which cooling air is diverted from a bypass flow and supplied to the outer side of the casing via an inlet duct (8) provided with a shut-off element (5). According to the present invention, the cooling air is supplied to a first chamber (6) in which it is divided by volume. One portion of the cooling air is issued to the casing (1) via orifice holes (10), while another portion is ducted via several tubes (9) to a second chamber (7) which annularly encloses the casing (1) in the area of a low-pressure turbine (3).

Abstract: A process for operating an exhaust gas treatment device in a gasoline engine which is operated mainly with a stoichiometric air/fuel ratio and is operated with a rich-mix air/fuel ratio when accelerating or under full load. The exhaust gas treatment device contains a three-way converter catalyst and a first lambda probe upstream of the catalyst and a second lambda probe downstream of the catalyst. The air/fuel ratio is controlled by using the signal from the first lambda probe, whereas the signal from the second lambda probe is used to check the first lambda probe (trim control) and to diagnose the function of the catalyst. Trim control with the second lambda probe is enabled only when, in the event of rich exhaust gas, the voltage difference between the probe voltage for the second lambda probe and a set point voltage is not larger than a predetermined value.

Abstract: A system generates energy using the difference in elevation between an upper elevation (e.g., at the top of a mountain) and a lower one (e.g., at or near the bottom of the mountain.) The system includes a compressor located at the upper location which supplies compressed gas through a conduit to a mixing chamber at the lower elevation. A plurality of turbine-generator sets are located at different elevations along the conduit for extracting energy from the compressed gas. A control unit connected to the conduit supplies pulses of the compressed gas to the mixing chamber for mixing with mercury to produce a mercury-gas mixture. An injector injects pulses of the mercury-gas mixture into a turbine so as to impact against the turbine blades and drive the turbine.
