  • Patent number: 6340103
Abstract: A dispensing mechanism for a pressurized container employs a platform which sits on and engages the valve cap. A lever pivoted on the platform extends from its pivot point up and around the nozzle to terminate in the handle that is adjacent to the sidewall of the pressurized container. The upper portion of the lever engages the shoulder on the nozzle so that when the handle is manually squeezed against the sidewall of the container, the lever pushes down on the nozzle thus pushing the nozzle and valve in a downward axially direction thereby dispensing the pressurized contents of the container. It is when the nozzle is screwed into a dispensing state that the handle or the lever is pivoted away from the sidewall of the can so that it can be squeezed against the can to effect the dispensing of the contents.

  • Patent number: 6340131
Abstract: A method for performing a batch change in an automatic cheese winder, which has many identical winding stations disposed in sections and a transportation system for supplying yarn-wound spinning cops to and removing empty unwound spinning cops from the winding stations. Transport trays for transporting spinning cops or empty tubes revolve within the transportation system, which has many different transport paths, among others transverse transport paths leading to the winding stations. The clearing away of an old batch of yarn is done section by section. Thus, from the transverse transport paths of one winding station section, spinning cop-carrying transport trays are discharged until such time as that section has been cleared out. The temporary storage of empty transport trays in the transverse transport paths of a cleared winding station section is already begun while adjacent winding station sections are still being cleared.

  • Patent number: 6340134
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for reducing the drag of an aircraft wing. Many modern high speed aircraft have a low aspect ratio wing generating significant induced drag. The invention provides a drag reduction system, which is made up of a high aspect ratio supplementary wing connected to the fuselage by a streamlined fuselage connection, and at least two struts connecting the supplementary wing to the main wing. The drag reduction system is capable of reducing the total drag of a modern high speed, high altitude aircraft with a low aspect ratio cantilevered wing, by at least 29.1%. At least 65% of the total lift of the aircraft can be provided by the supplementary wing. The main wing then provides structural strength to transfer lifting loads to the fuselage of the aircraft, and for this purpose, the main wing and interconnections for the supplementary wing can be designed with this structural function in mind.

  • Patent number: 6340138
Abstract: A Stationkeeping Mode for a spacecraft having a gimballed momentum wheel for attitude control in which the stationkeeping is divided into short duration open-loop stationkeeping maneuvers to correct orbital errors, and interlaced with closed-loop momentum management operations to manage momentum stored in the momentum wheel. The sequence of open-loop pulses are spaced to deadbeat a given dominant flexible motion of the spacecraft. Between and during the thruster pulses, the gimbaled momentum wheel is maintained in the closed-loop feedback control using gyro sensor or other inertial reference measurements. Limitations on the range of the momentum storage device and its torque capability are minimized by combining the maneuver thruster pulses with pulses from other thrusters, or by reducing the fire time of one of the maneuver thrusters, to minimize momentum buildup.

Abstract: The rigid frog for switch points and crossings with two wing rails (1, 2) and a frog point (3, 6, 4, 5) arranged therebetween, which forms with the wing rails switch openings (11) that run at an acute angle relative to each other, is characterized in that the frog point and the wing rails are elastically joined by anchor clamps on each foot side to ribbed plates (247-253). The previous unit of a rigid frog with wing rails and HB bolted point is thus resolved to individual rails. The individual rails each have their own intrinsic elasticity so that the frog behaves like a normal rail in the track in terms of oscillation and damping behavior. The previously used filling plates are no longer required. Beneath the rails are plates with which a height adjustment, especially of the wing rails (1, 2), can be effected, so that wear of the traversed surface of the wing rails can be compensated for in terms of height by changing the thickness of the spacers. The spacers (42, 43) can be elastic.
