Abstract: An apparatus and method for musical instruments with multiple vibrating elements where multiple-channel electronic signal handling and processing is used to produce diverse musical timbre, effects, and control. A plurality of vibrating elements are coupled, individually or in distinct possibly overlapping groups, to sense transducers which are in turn used to drive signal processors and/or vibration stimulating drive transducers. Sense transducer signals may be mixed prior to signal processing and signal processor outputs may be mixed prior to final system output. All mixing and signal processing can be controlled dynamically, and/or by pre-programming. The invention provides for drive transducers to be electromagnetic and/or piezo, for visual indicators (such as LEDs) to show the activity of each drive transducer, and for the drive transducers to be fed signals from an external source.

Abstract: A tubular member 21 is disposed within a valve body 6, and has a resilient retainer 69 mounted around the outer periphery thereof. The inner periphery of the valve body 6 is formed with an annular groove 68. When a brake pedal is quickly depressed, an input shaft 23 and the tubular member 21 are driven forward through more than a given stroke relative to the valve body, whereby a projection 69a of the retainer 69 becomes engaged with the annular groove 68. This produces and maintains a large opening in an atmosphere valve 32. Abstract: A rotational power input is converted into a linearly oscillating power output through the use of counter-rotating nested eccentrics. The outer eccentric is connected to an input end of a connecting rod, which is in turn connected at an output end thereof to a piston of a piston pump. The piston is constrained to translational movement along an axis D. Drive gears are rotationally fixed to each of the eccentrics and geared to each other through an intermediate pinion having a rotational axis B. An angular position &bgr; of the pinion axis B relative to the axis D determines the output oscillation stroke length and flow rate of the pump. An actuator is geared to a pinion bracket that holds the pinion. The actuator can be actuated on-the-fly to alter the angle &bgr; and pumping rate of the pump.

  • Publication number: 20020056366
Abstract: In diaphragm compressors diaphragm heads with oil spaces of high energy content (pressure×volume) have a strongly negative influence on the operating response of the oil overflow valve. The reaction of the valve leads to undesirably long open times causing more oil to flow out than brought in by an oil compensation pump, and causing many strokes to occur during which the diaphragm is no longer moved to its dead point. Accordingly not all compressed gas is pushed out of the compressor, which is connected with a rapid lowering of the suction efficiency. This problem is solved by the invention in that a throttle mechanism is arranged inside or outside of the oil space which lowers the oil pressure inside of the conductor to the oil overflow valve during the process in question and creates a constant differential pressure within the viscosity band of the oil.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for storing rubber-covered cylinder sleeves for offset printing for rotary printing machines permits an identified rubber-covered cylinder sleeve to be found easily. The apparatus is equipped with an electronic memory device into which, for each rubber-covered cylinder sleeve, characteristic data can be entered and stored. As the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve is introduced into a storage, the characteristic data from the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve are read into the memory device, and the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve can be removed from the storage apparatus in accordance with predefined data.

Abstract: In a method of correcting a position of each ink fountain key, a position of an ink fountain key is set as a present position with reference to a home position by using print data including an image area ratio of a reference plate having a predetermined image. A printing product is printed by using the reference plate with the ink fountain key being set at the present position. A density of each of respective areas, corresponding to the ink fountain keys, of the obtained printing product is measured. One of the home position and the present position of the ink fountain key is corrected on the basis of a difference between the measured density of the corresponding area and a reference density stored in advance. A position correcting apparatus is also disclosed.

Abstract: An igniter element has two contacts (12, 13) which are on the contact side of a support body (11), and which are connected via a resistance element (15). By current feed to the contacts (12, 13), a primer mix (17) is ignited on one active side of the support body (11). The support body (11) is placed in a fixing device (10), whereby the former is fitted with at least one stop spring (18) which catches on a stop shoulder (21) of the holding device. Furthermore, the support body (11) has a recess (22) on the front-side in the region of the stop spring (18), which recess is open in the direction of the active side. After igniting the primer mix (17), pressure builds up on the active side, so that the outer surface (23) of the stop spring (18) is pressed against the inner surface of the fixing device (10).

The single piece of cast iron has an internal cavity which does not require filling with any material. Internally, the body has protuberances (15) for a balance of the masses along the axis of rotation of the bomb and for receiving the functional components.

Abstract: The behavior of the bogie of a muliple-axle vehicle is monitored. Accelerations of at least two axles of the bogie are measured with acceleration sensors allocated to the axles. The sensor signals are subjected to a Fourier transformation in FFT units. The frequency profiles resulting from the Fourier transform are compared with profiles that are stored in memory. Differences that are detected are compared with threshold values and messages are correspondingly sent to the system that controls the vehicle. The monitoring system allows mechanical operating errors of the bogie to be detected independently of effects caused by the running surface upon which the vehicle travels.
