Abstract: Hollow cylindrical dynamo-electric machine stator cores may be made by superimposing at least two strips of core material to produce a composite strip. One or more of the strips may be run through a pressure roller structure prior to super-positioning of the strips. The one or more strips may contain internal apertures. The composite strip is coiled helically to produce the hollow cylindrical stator core. By pressure rolling at least one strip, the internal diameter of the stator core can be adjusted to reduce irregularities. By superimposing strips prior to coiling, thinner strips can be used without requiring the stator forming machine to operate longer or faster to produce stator cores of a given size, even though thinner strip material is being used. By using strips that contain internal apertures, unwanted deformations can be reduced. The pressure rolling aspects of the invention and the strips that may contain internal apertures are also applicable to coiling apparatus that uses only a single strip.

Abstract: A midsole structure for an athletic shoe includes a midsole (3) formed of a soft elastic material and extending from a shoe heel region through a midfoot region to a forefoot region and a plastic shank member (10) or shankpiece and provided at regions that cover a midfoot portion (B) of the midsole (3) and having an oblong cross sectional shape where a dimension (W) in a shoe elongated direction is greater than a dimension (h) in the vertical direction. Thus, flexural rigidity of the midfoot portion (B) of the midsole (3) increases. When a bending moment is applied to themidsole (3), the shankmember (10) effectively exercises a so-called “shank effect” and thus, bending deformation can be prevented from occurring at the midfoot portion (B) of the midsole (3). As a result, flexibility or bendability of the forefoot portion (C) of the midsole (3) can be relatively advanced.

Abstract: The present invention is a mechanical tree transplanting attachment that replaces the bucket of a loader-motor vehicle. The attachment is capable of excavating and planting a tree and root ball using a single hemispherical scoop with a fixture nestled within. The scoop rotates under the tree to excavate the tree and root ball. The fixture stops the root hall from rotating until the root ball is encompassed by the scoop and fixture. The loader-motor vehicle manipulates the attachment and tree from a ground contacting position to a transporting position. In this transporting position a tree is nearly horizontal with its root ball encompassed by the scoop and the fixture. When planting, the root ball is placed within a hole. The scoop passes from under the root ball while the fixture stops the root ball from rotating. The root ball is released from the scoop and fixture, planting the tree.
