A support cylinder provides structural support for the combined sealed ampoule crucible assembly, while low-density insulating material inside the support cylinder deters convection and conduction heating. Radiation channels penetrating the low-density material provide pathways for radiation heating into and out of the seed well and transition regions of the crystal growth crucible. A hollow core in the insulation material directly beneath the seed well provides cooling in the center of the growing crystal, which enables uniform, level growth of the crystal ingot and a flat crystal-melt interface which results in crystal wafers with uniform electrical properties.

Abstract: A spark unit for an internal combustion fastener-driving tool comprises a spark plug body mounted within a boss portion of the tool cylinder head, and a spark unit cathode electrode is mounted within the spark plug body in such a manner that the tip portion of the spark unit cathode electrode projects below or away from the bottom or undersurface portion of the cylinder head mounting boss. In this manner, the tip portion of the spark unit cathode electrode is not disposed within a recess or pocket region so as not to tend to accumulate dirt or oil deposits which can tend to foul or otherwise adversely affect the sparking and ignition charactreristics of the spark plug assembly and the operation of the fastener-driving tool.

Abstract: A small engine for outdoor power equipment wherein fuel is pumped to the engine's combustion chamber by a reciprocating piston. A desired rate of reciprocation is determined with the engine under load, e.g., with a grass trimmer cutting grass. Avoidance of undesired engine racing is accomplished by restricting airflow to the carburetor which prevents significant increased reciprocation over that desired when cutting. A choke mechanism is provided with a pair of end portions, one of which closes air to the carburetor for starting and the other provides a spaced barrier for inhibiting blow-back. The one end portion includes an inset that seats in the opening through which air enters the carburetor for providing rigidity and to insure closing.

The alternator rotor comprises generally cylindrical rotor housing and a balancing member secured to the rotor housing. The rotor housing is mountable to the crank shaft of the internal combustion engine such that rotation of the crank shaft causes rotation of the rotor housing along an axis of rotation generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the crank shaft. The balancing member includes a moveable mass that is capable of movement generally about the axis of rotation of the rotor housing in response to the rotation of the rotor housing such that upon rotation of the rotor housing the moveable mass moves about the axis of rotation of the rotor housing in response to the both the centrifugal force applied to the moveable mass and to the unbalanced forces generated by rotation of the engine.

Abstract: A lubrication structure of an engine arranged so as to reduce the size and weight of an engine. A lubrication structure that utilizes a lead valve and a strainer that are placed close together and divided by a partition, prevents air from being sucked into a strainer at the same time as reducing the amount of air in the engine oil. In this structure the oil is supplied to the oil pan from an oil exhaust port open to a small partition partitioned by a rib. The oil exhaust port communicates with an oil reservoir in a lower part of a crankcase via a lead valve. Oil sent from the oil exhaust port includes air. However, the air is separated by providing the rib. The oil in the oil pan is sucked through the strainer by the oil pump.
