Abstract: Bristle stiffness is varied by allowing a support beam that carries the bristles to undergo torsional movement in response to brushing action. Torsional movement is achieved by allowing the support beam to be disconnected to the brush head along at least portions of the length of the support beam. In particularly preferred embodiments, brushes employing the varying stiffness techniques are made with bristle sub-assemblies that have at least one row of bristles connected to a base string or similar structure that functions as a support beam. The base string can be connected across an opening in the brush, and is thus connected at its opposite ends, or it can be connected at any number of spaced intervals, the number and length of spacing being selected to achieve a desired degree of stiffness.

The airknife includes an air-augmenting shroud which defines auxiliary discharge orifices on opposite longitudinal sides of the primary air discharge orifice such that air discharging from the primary discharge orifice creates a low pressure condition adjacent the auxiliary air discharge orifices for drawing additional air through the auxiliary discharge orifices which augments the velocity and volume of the discharging air current without the necessity for increasing the air inlet pressure or blower size. The shroud may take alternative forms, including pairs of wings disposed on opposite sides of the primary discharge orifice or hollow structures that surround the airknife housing. Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for cleaning bottles made of synthetic resin so as to remove dust or impurities attached to the insides of the bottles by static electricity, in which air in an ionized state is changed into air in a neutral state and the neutr(lized air is injected into the bottles. Conventionally, a mechanism for cleaning the insides of bottles using compressed air has been mainly used. However, in this conventional system, since the compressed air in an ionized state such as cation and anion is supplied into the bottles, dust or impurities attached to the insides of bottles by static elasticity generated therein is electrically charged. Therefore, it is difficult to remove the electrically charged dust or impurities from the insides of bottles.

Abstract: A device and method for designing and manufacturing an integrated heat spreader so that the integrated heat spreader will have a flat surface on which to mount a heat sink after being assembled into a package and exposed to the heat of a die. This device and method for designing and manufacturing an integrated heat spreader would generate a heat spreader that would be built compensate for deformations resulting from (1) physical manipulation during assembly (2) thermal gradients during operation and (3) differing rates of expansion and contraction of the package materials coupled with multiple package assembly steps at elevated temperatures so that one surface of the integrated heat spreader would have a flat shape.

Abstract: A shifting device for manufacturing continuous terminals includes a body and a shaft. The body is formed with a hole and an inlet and an outlet both communicating with the hole. A direction into the inlet and a direction out of the outlet are the same. The inlet is shifted a predetermined distance away from the outlet. The shaft is fitted with the hole of the body and defines a spiral channel with the body after fitting with the hole of the body. The spiral channel corresponds to the inlet and the outlet of the body. According to the structure, the continuous terminals enter the body from the inlet and travel along the spiral channel. Then, the continuous terminals travel out of the body from the outlet with a predetermined distance shifted away from the inputted terminals. Thus, the processes for manufacturing terminals without waste material can be simplified.

Abstract: With a pick-up tool with a suction organ made of elastically deformable material, a surface for picking the semiconductor chip is formed convex. On placing the semiconductor chip onto an already mounted semiconductor chip the centre of the semiconductor chip impacts first. The convex surface is increasingly deformed as a result of the pressure build-up until it and the picked semiconductor chip are flat. The pressure builds up from the centre of the suction organ outwards. In doing so, the semiconductor chip is rolled onto the lower semiconductor chip, whereby the air can continuously escape.

Abstract: A resilient insulative sleeve is carried in an expanded state extending along one end of a tubular metal carrier. The carrier has several internally-projecting crimps and a flange at one end. The carrier with the sleeve is slid onto a cable until the crimps engage an enlargement on the cable formed by connection to the cable. A tool is then used to apply force between the carrier's flange and one end of the sleeve so that the sleeve is pushed off the carrier and contracts onto the cable about the connection.

Abstract: A method of making an interposer having an array of contact structures for making temporary electrical contact with the leads of a chip package. The contact structures may make contact with the leads substantially as close as desired to the body of the chip package. Moreover, the contact structures can be adapted for making contact with leads having a very fine pitch. In a first embodiment, the contact structures include raised members formed over a body of the interposer. A conductive layer is formed over each of the raised members to provide a contact surface for engaging the leads of the chip package. In another embodiment, the raised members are replaced with depressions formed into the interposer. A conductive layer is formed on an inside surface of each depression to provide a contact surface for engaging the leads of the chip package. Moreover, any combination of raised members and depressions may be used.
