  • Patent number: 6584662
Abstract: A tool for extracting a glow plug includes an externally threaded shaft, an internally threaded sleeve that engages the externally threaded shaft, and a fixed cavity formed in one end of the externally threaded shaft. The cavity has a side entry to permit the insertion of the glow plug into the cavity in a direction normal to the shaft, and a pair of opposing shoulders integrally formed in opposing sidewalls of the cavity to engage the glow plug. The sleeve threads down the shaft until it contacts the engine block. Rotating the sleeve exerts a pulling force on the shaft, which is transferred to the inserted glow plug by the opposing shoulders in the cavity. • Patent number: 6584668
Abstract: Durable non-electrically conductive metal treatments (such as coatings or finishes) for yarns and textile fabrics. Such treatments preferably comprise silver and/or silver ions; however, other metals, such as zinc, iron, copper, nickel, cobalt, aluminum, gold, manganese, magnesium, and the like, may also be present or alternatively utilized. Such a treatment provides, as one example, an antimicrobial fiber and/or textile fabric which remains on the surface and does not permit electrical conductivity over the surface. The treatment is extremely durable on such substrates; after a substantial number of standard launderings and dryings, the treatment does not wear away in any appreciable amount and thus the substrate retains its antimicrobial activity (or other property).

  • Patent number: 6584676
Abstract: A method for finishing a pole tip trimmed read/write heat that includes a substrate with a pole tip structure having a shield, a shield/pole, and an outer pole. A gap region separates the pole and the shield/pole. First, pole tip trimming is performed to the read/write head to remove matter from the shield/pole, the pole, and the gap region. This defines a bridge composed of inward-facing extensions of the pole and shield/pole interconnected by an intervening region. This bridge separates recessed “trenches,” each formed by removing a contiguous mass from the shield/pole, the gap region, and the pole. Next, an overlayer is applied over the pole tip structure, filling the recessed trenches. The coated structure is then trimmed to remove all coating material overlying the shield/pole and pole. Trimming is continued to additionally remove a top layer of the protrusions of the pole and shield/pole to remove any rounded edges created by pole tip patterning, resulting in a more distinct write head.

  • Patent number: 6584677
Abstract: Twist pins having bulges are fabricated from helically coiled stranded wire. Wire is advanced from a source such as a spool to create slack wire configuration, and wire is then advanced from the slack wire configuration to a position where each bulge is formed. Each bulge is formed by gripping the wire in two spaced apart locations and rotating the wire in an anti-helical direction in a single continuous relative revolution to untwist the strands and form the bulge. The wire is thereafter advanced to the position of the next bulge or the position where the wire will be severed to release the fabricated twist pin. The severed fabricated twist pin is conveyed through a flow of gas in a delivery tube into a receptacle of a cassette where the twist pin is stored until used. The cassette is automatically moved to position an occupied receptacle to receive each newly fabricated twist pin.

  • Patent number: 6584684
Abstract: A module or assembly is formed by interposing a polymer between a carrier and a semiconductor device to be secured to the carrier. The polymer has ionized metallic particles suspended in it. Before setting or curing the polymer, the module is exposed to an electric field which induces migration of the metallic particles to the opposing pads of the carrier and semiconductor device. Such migration ultimately forms metal dendrites extending between mating pad pairs. The dendrites establish a metallurgical bond and conductive paths between the carrier and the overlying semiconductor device. When the polymer is subsequently set, the carrier and device are not only adhered to each other, but the dendrite connections are fixed and structurally reinforced to provide the needed electrically conductive paths.

  • Patent number: 6584685
Abstract: A system and method for embedding power and ground planes in a pin grid array (PGA) socket is provided. Integrated circuit pins are inserted into multiple insertion holes of varying dimensions in the power and ground planes. When the cover of the socket is slidably moved, power pins touch the power plane and ground pins touch the ground plane. Decoupling capacitors are also affixed to the substrate. Thus, the power delivery performance of the overall central processing unit (CPU) package is improved. Moreover, the power and ground planes enhance the mechanical strength of the socket which reduces warpage.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a laser alignment device of a circular saw, including a rotary disk base, a protective cover, and a magnetic ring base. The rotary disk base is mounted on a drive shaft of a circular saw. The rotation shaft of the motor may rotate the drive shaft to rotate the rotary disk base, so that the rotary disk base may be rotated at a high speed, and the silicon steel plates and the armature coil of the rotary disk base may be rotated at a high speed. Thus, an induced current may be produced between the silicon steel plates and the armature coil of the rotary disk base and the stator member of the magnetic ring of the magnetic ring base, so as to provide an electrical energy to the laser generator.

Abstract: A disposable razor unit having a razor head is assembled with a handle. The handle has attachment means comprising at least one prong which extends outward from the handle. The prong has a tooth on the underside of the end opposite the handle. The razor head has a chamber which receives the attachment means of the handle when the razor head and the handle are fastened together. The chamber has a clearance slot and a locking shoulder at its innermost, central point into which the tooth of the prong fits to fasten the razor head and handle together. The fit between the handle and the razor head is such that the razor head may be removed by a forward force exerted on the top of the chamber by the user; however the fit is sufficient that the handle and the razor head will not become separated by normal forces encountered during shaving.
