Publication number: 20030141941Abstract: A wideband distributed or feedback amplifier monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) is disclosed that contains an integrated group delay equalizer circuit to compensate for the group delay variation of the amplifier circuitry. The MMIC amplifier is capable of achieving a predicted constant group delay with little variation over a wide frequency range. In addition, the group delay equalizer circuit enables the amplifier to achieve flat (constant) gain over a wide bandwidth, while maintaining constant group delay. Furthermore, the group delay equalizer circuitry requires only a small portion of the total MMIC area.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2002Publication date: July 31, 2003Applicant: Nanowave, Inc.Inventors: Kazuya Ozawa, Saphan Yok, Stephen R. Publication number: 20030141942Abstract: Multilayer circuit boards include compensator networks configured in one or more conductor layers. A signal trace is configured in one or more layers to transmit an electrical signal from an input to an output and the compensator network is situated at at least one location on the trace to provide compensation for frequency dependent signal propagation losses or distortions such as those due to dielectric loss. In one example, the compensator includes a high frequency path provided by a series capacitance formed by conductor layers that include interleaved digits. Transmitters that include such compensators provide predistorted signals that can be matched or otherwise associated with anticipated propagation losses and distortions. Methods of evaluating dielectric losses include propagating electrical signals through such compensators and along a trace defined with respect to a dielectric under test and determining an associated compensation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2003Publication date: July 31, 2003Applicant: Stilwell Baker, Inc.Inventors: Norman S. Cold pizza, a result of a time consuming search for the residential customer is time consuming, expensive and frustrating for delivery personnel. A method of expediting delivery service to residence target locations comprises the steps of: providing an illuminated sign having a delivering service company's indicia thereon; and, positioning the illuminated sign on an interior side of a front window glass at one of the target delivery locations. A preferred aspect of this method further comprises the step of providing a remotely controlled activator and alarm within the illuminated sign so that the illuminated sign would additionally flash and sound an alarm when the remotely controlled activator was activated by delivery personnel entering the proximate area of the sign.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2002Publication date: July 31, 2003Inventors: John Sarek, Steven M. Publication number: 20030141985Abstract: Computer-assisted procedure (501/502) to communicate data in a transportation system (90) that physically transports objects (800) from first to second locations (10, 20). The objects (800) have write/read memory tags (300). Prior to communicating, data is separated into meta-data M and content-data C. Communicated are: C on the tags (300), M through a computer network, and type-data T (representing M) on the tags. System computers (901, 902, 900) perform complementary methods for forwarding (501) and retrieving (502). To forward (501) data from the first location (10), a first computer (901) queries (510) an exchange computer (901) with M for T according to a predefined T-to-M table, writes T to the tags (300), and writes C to the tags (300). To retrieve (502) data at the second location (20) where the objects arrive, a second computer (902) reads T from the tags (300), queries (550) the exchange computer (900) with T for M according to the same table, and reads (560) C from the tags (300).Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2002Publication date: July 31, 2003Inventors: Stephan Haller, Richard Swan

Publication number: 20030141986Abstract: A vehicle window control system for a vehicle having a data communications bus may include at least one vehicle device associated with operating a window of the vehicle, a window operation transmitter, a receiver at the vehicle for receiving signals from the window operation transmitter, and a controller connected to the data communications bus for communicating with the at least one vehicle device associated with operating the window of the vehicle. The vehicle window controller may also be connected to the receiver and may be responsive to signals from the window operation transmitter. A window piggyback controller may operate the windows based on signals on the data communications bus, such as door lock or door unlock signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2002Publication date: July 31, 2003Applicant: Omega Patents, L.L.C.Inventor: Kenneth E. Publication number: 20030141987Abstract: A system and method for configuring a remote control to command the operation of appliances, to capture demographic data, and to provide services, such as automated warranty registration, instructions, viewing guides, etc., relevant to the appliances is provided. The system includes a database and associated server that are located remotely from the remote control and accessible via a network connection. Command codes, graphical user interface elements, and services are accessed and downloaded to the remote control, as appropriate, using data supplied to the server that identifies the appliances and/or functional capabilities of the appliances. This data can be supplied by the appliances directly or can be obtained from other sources such as barcode labels, network devices, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2003Publication date: July 31, 2003Inventor: Patrick H. Publication number: 20030141988Abstract: A wireline logging sonde (10) for sensing fluid properties in a borehole has a main body (12) and a plurality of sensor capsules (30) mounted peripherally of the main body on fingers (22, 24). The sensor capsules transmit data signals at radio frequency to the main body, and are powered from the main body by inductive coupling. The need to provide pressure-proof wire connections between the main body and into the sensor capsules is thus completely avoided.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2002Publication date: July 31, 2003Inventors: William P. Publication number: 20030141989Abstract: The present invention relates to a semiconductor integrated-circuit device capable of seamlessly switching a power source obtained by rectifying a carrier wave and an external power source. The semiconductor integrated-circuit device having a non-contact card function and a non-contact reader/writer function includes a rectifier 131 for rectifying a received carrier wave, a serial regulator 132 for obtaining a predetermined voltage from an output voltage of the rectifier 131, and a power-supply control circuit 138 for turning on/off the voltage from a battery 160. In a case where the output voltage of the battery 160 is equal to or higher than a predetermined voltage, the power-supply control circuit 138 selects the voltage of the battery 160 as power required for operation of an IC 300 when a reader/writer mode signal or a card mode signal is received.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2003Publication date: July 31, 2003Inventors: Shigeru Arisawa, Akihiko Yamagata

Publication number: 20030141990Abstract: A method and system communicates alert information to a driver of a vehicle about emergency vehicles, stopped school buses, active railroad crossings and the like (i.e., hazards) which may be relevant to the driver. The hazard (e.g., an ambulance) determines its location and transmits its coordinates to a tracking station which relays the information to a wireless data delivery center (e.g., FM radio station). The data delivery center broadcasts an alert signal containing the hazard coordinates to all the receiving vehicles in the area. A receiving vehicle determines its own location and processes the alert signal to determine if the hazard is relevant to the receiving vehicle or the driver. If the hazard is relevant, the system alerts the driver, suggests actions to be taken, or otherwise communicates the hazard information to the driver.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2002Publication date: July 31, 2003Inventor: Bradley S.
