Abstract: A method for fabricating the cathode plate of a carbon nano tube field emission display uses a photoconductive paste and etchable dielectric material to fabricate the cathode plate. The method combines photolithography process and etching process to fabricate a cathode electrode layer, a dielectric layer, a gate layer, and a carbon nano tube emission layer. Packing this cathode plate structure with a conventional anode plate together can form a carbon nano tube field emission array. The distribution of the electric field is uniform and the alignment at post-process is made easy.

Abstract: An electron gun includes plural aligned charged grids each having an aperture (in a monochrome CRT) or plural apertures (in a color CRT) through which an electron beam (or beams) is directed. The beams emitted by a cathode sequentially transit a beam forming region (BFR), a dynamic focus lens and a main focus lens prior to being incident on the CRT's display screen. The electron beam tends to expand in diameter in the direction of the CRT's display screen. This results in an increase in the focusing effect on the electron beam of the electron gun's grids in proceeding from the BFR toward the display screen where the beam passing apertures in the various grids are of the same size. To increase electron beam focusing sensitivity while reducing the beam's dynamic focus voltage, the beam passing apertures in the gun's dynamic focus lens are provided with progressively reduced size in proceeding toward the electron gun's cathode.

Abstract: During stationary operation a circuit arrangement for operating a high-pressure discharge lamp supplies a direct current to the lamp which is commutated at a low-frequency. During take-over, between ignition and stationary operation, a high frequency current is supplied to the lamp after each commutation during a time interval that is shorter than half a cycle of the commutation. By supplying the lamp in this way, it forms a smaller load during take-over, so that the requirements that the circuit arrangement has to meet are less severe.

Abstract: The invention relates to a novel operating circuit for a low-pressure gas discharge lamp 1 in the case of which a digital controller 12 is designed such that by gradually lowering the operating frequency in the ignition procedure it initiates shutdown operations of a safety shutdown device for excessive currents through a lamp inductor 10 in order thereafter to increase the operating frequency somewhat. It is possible overall in this way to achieve an ignition, for example by repeated pulsed ignition operations as far as shutdown operations, or else by a continuous ignition operation at a minimum frequency at which no shutdown operation occurs. The invention has the advantage of being insensitive to temperature fluctuations and component tolerances and, moreover, of permitting the lamp inductor 10 to have comparatively small dimensions.

Abstract: An anti-pitch assembly is used in combination with a closure device of a motor vehicle. The closure device includes a closure panel, i.e., a windowpane or door, and a motor for moving the closure panel between an open position and a closed position. In the closed position, the closure panel covers an aperture, i.e., a window or door opening, of the motor vehicle. The anti-pinch assembly includes a position sensor that is disposed adjacent the motor or the closure device. The position sensor generates a position signal indicative of the position of the closure panel. A capacitive sensor measures the capacitance of a field extending through the aperture. The capacitive sensor generates a signal therefrom. A controller is electrically connected to the position and capacitive sensors.

Abstract: A region judging circuit judges an electric angle region of a three-phase brushless DC motor based on an output signal of a resolver. A latch timing output circuit determines an optimum latch timing. A driving direction judging circuit judges a rotational direction of the motor based on a comparison in largeness between a pair of phase currents. A latch circuit latches a judgement result of the driving direction judging circuit at the latch timing designated by the latch timing output circuit and retains the judgement result until the next latch timing comes.

Abstract: The present invention resides in a capacitor-start, single-phase induction motor wherein connections for all coil windings are used during start-up and running of the motor. The induction motor during start-up is connected as a 2 pole motor and is switched to connect as a 4 pole motor when the capacitor drops out of the motor circuit. A cylindrical air gap motor with radial coils in a wound stator makes the pole change easily possible. The use of radial coils provides a design with a minimum of copper wire. This particular induction motor will reduce the use of copper wire in the wound coils by approximately 50%.

Abstract: A method and system for estimating slip gain for use in the control of torque in a multi-phase induction machine. The slip gain estimate is based on a transient response of the induction machine to torque command changes. The invention is independent of machine parameters other than the slip gain. The method uses a slip gain estimation algorithm that is suited for use either as a self-calibration procedure or a background procedure that continually updates the slip gain during normal operation of the induction machine. The estimation method of the invention is suited for automotive driveline applications, which typically have limited sensor capability and which may present tuning problems associated with high volume production and with slip gain estimates when temperature changes during normal operation.
