Abstract: A hacksaw in which one or more perishable hacksaw blades are conveniently stored and accessed. The hacksaw includes a beam, which defines a blade storage cavity, a handle and a fastening member that is employed to fixedly fasten the beam to the handle. The fastening member is positioned relative to the beam such that it does not interfere with the movement of the hacksaw blade(s) in the blade storage cavity. A plug, which frictionally engages at least one of the fastening member, the beam and the handle, is employed to seal off an end of the blade storage cavity.

Abstract: A compass is provided for marking, scoring or cutting curves on a surface. The compass includes an instrument holder adapted for receiving and holding a surface-engaging instrument. An adjustable-length cable has a proximal end secured to the holder and a free end for being anchored to the surface a selected distance from the holder. The selected distance defines a radius of a curve formed by operation of the compass.

Abstract: A device for locating bowling ball gripping apertures with respect to a bowling ball weight block angle inherent to that particular bowling ball and the track of a particular bowler. One embodiment of the device includes a curved base portion adapted to substantially rest on a curved surface of a bowling ball, the perimeter of the base portion including degree indicators and the center of the base portion including a hole, at least four curved angle indicator arms adapted to substantially rest on a curved surface of the bowling ball, the angle indicator arms including length measurement indicators, the angle indicator arms connected with and extending from the curved base portion, and at least two of the angle indicator arms are adapted to rotate about the center of the curved base portion.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for the alignment of large machinery, including a tool for supporting each corner of the machine during alignment. The tool during the alignment operation is substantially frictionless and is capable of limited, controlled movement to accomplish the alignment within small fractions of an inch, both vertically and horizontally. The alignment is accomplished by placing a tool in position, elevating the machine until it is totally supported by a plurality of tools and accomplishing the alignment guided by a precision measuring instrument.

Abstract: A measurement module for measuring particularly the surface of wafers is described, which comprises a measuring device and a measuring table that has a wafer table equipped with a rotary drive. The design of this measurement module should be as compact as possible. To this end, the wafer table (10) is cup-shaped with at least one support edge (13, 14) for a wafer (4, 4a, 4b), which is provided with an adhesive material. A wafer aligning device (30) is arranged in the interior of the wafer table (10). A displaceable measuring head (7) in which a measuring device and a notch detector are integrated is disposed above the wafer table.

Abstract: Disclosed is the hair dryer. In the hair dryer, a hollow dryer housing has an inlet port, an outlet port and a front handle. An intake cover is coupled to a rear side of the dryer housing and has a rear handle protruding downwardly from the hollow dryer, for suctioning an outer air into the dryer housing. A nozzle is coupled to the outlet port of the dryer housing. A heating assembly is positioned in the dryer housing and in the intake cover, and includes a hollow assembly body, a support frame, a driving motor, a rotating shaft, and a blowing fan. A shielding member is installed along an inner side of the dryer housing, the intake cover, and the nozzle. Due to this structure, the hair dryer is capable of absorbing and shielding the magnetic wave not to cause human problems such as headache, dermatitis and chronic fatigue.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for merging the processes of hearth baking and conveyor baking to offer the benefits of the two processes while eliminating many of the shortcomings. In one aspect, the present invention is a horizontal food-grade product conveyor to transport and support food substances within or through a cooking chamber in a continuous motion. The product conveyor comprises a frame, a support structure, a drive mechanism, and rotating segments of ceramic, brick, firebrick, stone, baked clay, transite, quarry tile, or other non-metallic material which form an endless baking hearth. Each hearth segment interacts with the next adjacent hearth segment to facilitate turning around a radius while forming and maintaining a continuous, flat product support surface and preheated baking hearth.

The device comprises: a reservoir for storing a fabric freshening composition, means to expose fabric freshening composition from the reservoir to airflow generated inside the tumble drier thereby transferring a portion of the fabric freshening component into contact the fabric freshening composition and transfer a portion thereof into contact with fabrics in the tumble dryer during a tumble drying cycle; means for attaching the device to the inside of the tumble dryer door; and optionally means for indicating to a user when the fabric freshening composition is used up.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a footwear item comprising an upper and, a lap element (50) for attachment to a sole. The lap element is formed from a resilient material to have opposing surfaces (51, 53) defining a channel (56) therebetween, whereby the upper is insertable into said channel with the lap element overlapping both sides of the periphery of the upper along a section of the perimeter thereof. The lap element is formed with a predetermined shape which follows the perimeter of the upper. In the manufacture of the footwear item, once the upper has been inserted into the channel in the lap element, the two are provided together into a mould. Material making up the sole of the footwear item is then injected into the mould and fuses to the lap element thereby forming the completed footwear item.

The protective shells are asymmetrically shaped, their continuity being broken in a location away from the medial side. The lower, inner medial edge of the upper shell is curved to contact and follow the medial side edge of the sole plate while a tongue extends transversely under the sole plate to hook the shield along the sole plate medial edge. The front end rests on the reinforced toe of the skate.

Abstract: An orthopedic walking boot promotes rapid healing of diabetic foot ulcerations by lowering the maximum peak pressure imposed upon the foot. The walker has a hard unyielding shell which is designed for walking. The shell closely and rigidly supports a mid-sole in a foot-shaped bed. The mid-sole has a foot-shaped cavity with rounded sides adapted to form resilient support for the heel, arch and sides of a foot in addition to the bottom of a foot. A conformable inner-sole is adapted to fit over the foot-shaped cavity in the mid-sole and be compressed in response to foot pressure between the sides and bottom of the foot and the sides and bottom of the foot-shaped cavity in the mid-sole thereby compensating for small differences between the shape of the foot and the shape of the cavity.

The bracket has a body having a mounting surface adapted to receive a license plate, an arm having a hook which extends from a rear surface of the body. The hook engages a flange defining the air scoop. A pair of threaded fasteners pass freely through the license plate, body of the brackets to be received in threaded apertures in the vehicle.

Abstract: A sign holding device for a folding chair that allows the user to display customized messages on a back rest of the chair. The sign holder is attached to the back rest in various manners so as to permit messages to be displayed when the chair is unfolded. The sign holders are configures such that when the chair is folded, the chair can be carried and stacked without having to remove the sign holders from the back rest. One embodiment of the folding chair also includes an integral carrying handle that permits the folded chair to be carried by one hand. The integral carrying handle further comprises an opening that permits the carrying hand to grasp the handle better, and also permit the chair to be unfolded without removing the hand from the handle, such that the unfolding action does not pinch the carrying hand.

Abstract: An active display device includes a motorized base and a transparent display. The base unit includes a magnetic drive, which communicates magnetically with a magnetically attractive rotor or agitator in the bottom of the display unit to circulate the fluid within the display unit and any particulate matter mixed therein. The purely magnetic communication between base and display eliminates all mechanical passages therebetween, thereby precluding potential leakage routes from the display component and permitting the display to be readily removed and replaced atop the base. The display may include a magnetically movable floor or other panel, if desired, with the floor panel disposed between the magnetic rotor and the display having a series of passages therethrough to permit liquid circulation, but precluding passage of particles beneath the floor to the rotor area. The base may include numerous additional features, such as an audio system, remote actuation, lighting, etc.

A visual display support means is attached to the upper ends of the legs and includes pivotal clamp frame means for clamping a display sign, poster or other visible sheet in position on each side of the display means so that the device can be positioned between rows of vending or gaming machines to provide visible access of the display to users of either row. In a second back-lit embodiment fluorescent rubes are provided between translucent plastic support panels.

Abstract: A collapsible traffic control sign in the form of an arrow board for providing an alert warning to approaching traffic includes a collapsible frame including first, second and third frame members and four cooperating link members. Each link member is connected at opposite ends with a pivotal connection to a different one of the frame members. In a closed condition, the traffic control sign orients each of the three frame members in a substantially parallel and contiguous arrangement. When opened, the frame members are spaced apart and extending between each pair of frame members are two link members. The link members are oriented such that each pair creates the shape of a pointed arrow. Three light subassemblies are assembled to each of the four link members and the lights are illuminated by battery power from a vehicle by means of a cigarette lighter adapter.

The carrier can be mounted on a less visible surface of the chassis, in plain sight or can be moved into a position where it is not visible during normal use, but readily available when needed by pulling it out, rotating it out or flipping it out.

Abstract: A wildfowl decoy apparatus comprising basically of a decoy body with wings spread as if in flight and a motor that causes a support arm to revolve around a floating platform. The decoy body is attached to the outer end of the revolving support arm. The motor attached to the revolving arm causes said arm to turn. As the arm turns said decoy is moved about in a circular pattern as if it is flying. By putting this apparatus on a floating platform, it can be used to attract waterfowl to any desired location. This can be readily converted between motor powered operation and wind powered operation and can be easily dismantled for storage and transportation.

Abstract: A pesticide application system includes an anchor conduit and a dispensing tube for dispensing a pressurized fluid pesticide into an interior cavity of a hollow wall. The anchor conduit functions to convey a pressurized fluid pesticide from an outside surface of the hollow wall into the interior cavity of the hollow wall and anchors the pressurized fluid pesticide dispensing tube to the hollow wall. The anchor conduit has an opening at an outer end for connecting the system to a pressurized fluid pesticide dispenser. The dispensing tube is mounted on an inner end of the anchor conduit to dispense pressurized fluid pesticide into the wall cavity. The anchor conduit of the system may be placed directly in the wall, in a cover plate on the wall or in a utility cover plate on the wall or the anchor conduit may be an integral part of a cover plate on the wall.

The additive contains an antioxidant, metal deactivator, corrosion inhibitor, and detergent. The corrosion inhibitor, preferably a carboxylic acid containing a carbon number equal to or less than 18 and the detergent component, preferably a polyisobutylene diamine are selected to avoid antagonistic effects with the antioxidant and metal deactivator components while the antioxidant and metal deactivator components are used in markedly reduced amounts to avoid antagonistic effects resulting in increased intake-valve deposits.

Abstract: Plant potting machines and methods have synchronized continuous motion pot track and soil drilling systems. In especially preferred forms, potting machines and methods of forming a planting recess in soil contained within a pot are provided which move a soil-filled pot continuously along a linear segment of a pot track, and move a drill bit continuously in synchronized registry with the soil-filled pot at the same time as the pot moves continuously along the linear segment of the pot track. Most preferably, simultaneous horizontal and vertical motion components are imparted to a soil-drilling drill bit relative to the linear segment of the pot track, for example, by moving the drill bit in an arcuate (preferably circular) orbit above the pot track.

Abstract: A method for producing deep-rooted trees for phytoremediation applications is shown. The method involves creating a hole of appropriate diameter and depth using direct push technology, installing a subsurface drip irrigation line down the hole, backfilling the hole, and planting a tree or cutting next to or inside the hole. The subsurface irrigation line is connected to a water supply line, to which an in-line aerator (oxygenator) and a nutrient injector apparatus (proportioner) may also be connected. A specific mixture of nutrients, root stimulant, microbes and/or surfactants may be added to the irrigation water via the proportioner with the objective of producing a subsurface environment in which roots can proliferate and the aerobic biodegradation of organic chemical contaminants is enhanced. As the trees develop, irrigation rates are regulated to encourage the drying of the upper soil layers and subsequent rooting in deeper layers of the soil.

The post planter is attached at any height along the support post and is made of two sections that wrap around the support post and are held together by clips at the top and a mounting mechanism that is attached to the support post. Abstract: For pivotally connecting an upper end of a rack bar and a lower end of a connecting rod, there is employed a joint/slider unit which is slid in and along a guide slot of a rail member. The unit comprises a bolt member passing through the guide slot and including first and second sections which are respectively projected into one and the other sides with respect to the rail member. The first section is held by the upper end of the rack bar and the second section is pivotally held by the lower end of the connecting rod. A first slider is disposed on the first section of the bolt member and slidably contacts one surface of the rail member. A second slider is disposed on the second section of the bolt member and slidably contacts the other surface of the rail member. A universal joint structure is disposed between the second slider and lower end of the connecting rod to permit a pivoting of the connecting rod relative to the bolt member in universal directions.

Abstract: A window lift mechanism for raising and lowering a window in a vehicle door includes a support bracket mounted to the window and a motor supported on the support bracket, wherein the support bracket permits the axial and rotational movement of the window relative to the support bracket. A pair of parallel, vertical racks are mounted to the door and are positioned immediately adjacent to the window. A worm gear is driven by a worm with a lead angle greater than seven degrees coupled to a motor. A clutch mechanism is utilized to prevent back drive of the worm/worm gear system. The worm gear is operatively coupled to a pinion gear with resilient shock absorbers that are provided with notched surfaces to accommodate for compression of the resilient material with an enclosed space.

Abstract: An ultra-hard semiconductive polycrystalline diamond (PCD) material formed with semiconductive diamond particles doped with Li, Be or Al and/or insulative diamond particles having semiconductive surfaces, tools incorporating the same, and methods for forming the same, are provided. The ultra-hard PCD material may be formed using a layer of insulative diamond grit feedstock that includes additives therein, then sintering to convert a plurality of the diamond crystals to include a semiconductive surface. In another embodiment, the ultra-hard PCD material is formed by sintering semiconductive diamond grit feedstock consisting of diamond crystals doped with Li, Al or Be. The ultra-hard semiconductive PCD cutting layer exhibits increased cuttability, especially in EDM and EDG cutting operations.

Abstract: A straddle bin for an office furniture system with walls comprised of modular partitions. The straddle bin provides two adjacent compartments extending through an office partition with one compartment open to a first side of the partition only and the other compartment open to a second side of the partition only, and with sliding doors on each side of the partition to close the compartment opening on that side and when open, to lie over a blind, closed rear end of the adjacent compartment. The straddle bin provides private compartments for users on both sides of the partition.
