Patent number: 6674801Abstract: A picture decoding synchronizing circuit and a picture decoding synchronizing method are provided. When the decoding synchronization is controlled in units of a picture, in a variable length decoder using the transferred PTS and DTS information, the value obtained by adding the previous DTS to an offset is determined to be the DTS value of the current picture, if errors are generated in the transferred PTS and DTS, considering the errors of the transferred bit stream. If no errors are generated in the PTS or DTS, then the transferred PTS and DTS are determined to be the DTS value of the current picture. By controlling the picture decoding using the determined DTS value, the bit buffer does not underflow or overflow and the decoded data is displayed naturally on a screen.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1998Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Seong-bong Kim

Patent number: 6674818Abstract: The present invention groups a set of N, nearly orthogonal, CCK code words into M subgroups, with each subgroup consisting of N/M orthogonal code words. For the 64-ary CCK communication standard for wireless local area networks (WLAN), N is 64 and M is preferably 8. Based on the orthogonal subgrouping, most significant bit (MSB) comparitors, instead of full-scale comparitors, are used to compare cross-correlations for each subgroup. In the subgroup containing the desired maximum correlation, all other cross-correlations, except the maximum, are zero in an ideal case, or very close to zero in a noisy environment due to the selected orthogonality. The maximum correlation value can be distinguished by looking at only the most significant bit or bits among all the cross-correlations. In the subgroups that do not contain the global, maximum correlation value, it does not matter which cross-correlation value is picked.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2000Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: RF Micro Devices, Inc.Inventors: Eric J. Patent number: 6674846Abstract: The method and system determines if modem pulse dialing has been requested in a telecommunication system having both a modem and an associated modem driver. When modem pulse dialing is requested, a fast timer is activated by the modem driver in association with a slow timer in the modem by stopping the fast timer, calculating a divisor value to set-up an interrupt period for the pulse dialing and restarting the fast timer utilizing the interrupt period. The fast timer is started and stopped by enabling/disabling timer interrupts. By synchronizing the fast timer and the slow timer to count in millisecond increments with the modem continuously operating utilizing both the slow timer and the fast timer, the timer resolution necessary for modem pulse dialing is produced. The modem releases control to the operating system during inter-digit delay time.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1999Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: Conexant Systems, Inc.Inventor: Ronald Dennis Stevens
