Abstract: Method and apparatus are presented for electrically coupling a slider to ground. In one embodiment, a bonding pad is provided on a side of the slider body separate from the bonding pad(s) used for read/write signals. This separate bonding pad is electrically coupled within the slider body to components that are to be coupled to ground. A separate conductor provided on the suspension (e.g., a trace, a flex circuit, etc.) may be electrically coupled to the separate bonding pad via gold ball bonding. The conductor is also coupled to ground in the hard-disk drive device (e.g., via the preamplifier). The use of the separated bonding pad and trace may negate the need to use a conductive adhesive to electrically ground the slider via its attachment to the tongue of a slider.

Abstract: With prior art Immersion Detection Circuit Interrupters (IDCI), the firing of the trip coil to open the contacts which interrupts the flow of current to a load uses the neutral conductor as the return path when leakage is detected. If, however, the neutral conductor should become open, there is no return path present to fire the coil. An unsafe condition because the voltage that is present cannot be disconnected from the load. With this invention the SCR, which is used to fire the coil, now uses the ground conductor and diodes as the return path to fire the coil to interrupt the voltage from the load. Abstract: There provided an electrostatic discharge protection circuit for preventing a damage to a transistor due to an ESD surge. In the protection circuit, a first and a second signal line serving as a source or a drain of a transistor Tr1 are connected to a first and a second power source terminal, respectively. A first diode has an anode connected to the first signal line and a cathode connected to a back gate of the transistor and a cathode of a second diode. The second diode has an anode connected to the second signal line 2. Thus, the source and drain of the transistor Tr1 are switched to each other in accordance with an ESD surge voltage generated in the first and the second signal line. Therefore, an ESD surge current runs through a source-drain path without producing a parasitic action in a well tap of the source and the drain, thereby preventing a damage to the transistor Tr1.

The U-shaped support is borne by the electrical bond of the electrode with a remote (adjustable, AC or DC, mono-multipolar) power source. The gripping surface of the device is planar and protrusion-free whatever the geometry of the support used.

Abstract: A ceramic capacitor includes: a first conductive pattern; a second conductive pattern and a dielectric layer, the first conductive pattern and the second conductive pattern being made of a conductor and provided so as to oppose each other and sandwich the dielectric layer therebetween. The first conductive pattern and the second conductive pattern are different in area from each other, where the second conductive pattern is smaller than the first conductive pattern, and a portion where the first conductive pattern and the second conductive pattern overlap each other forms a capacitance portion. A first extended portion and a second extended portion made of the conductor are formed at both edges of the second conductive pattern so as to extend in mutually opposite directions. With this configuration, the ceramic capacitor with a reduced variation in capacitance value caused by displacement in lamination of green sheets can be provided.

Abstract: The invention is related to methods and apparatus for inserting and/or holding electronic modules into equipment racks. For example, the electronic module can correspond to a power supply, and the equipment rack can correspond to a shelf for a standardized equipment rack. One embodiment includes a handle that is movable from a first position to a second position. A power supply is inserted into an equipment rack with a handle in a first position. The first position of the handle permits partial insertion of the power supply, thereby permitting electrical connection of pre-charge contacts. The handle is then moved to a second position, thereby pulling in the power supply and permitting regular power contacts to make an electrical connection. One embodiment further includes a tongue and groove arrangement to prevent vertical displacement of an electronic module.
