Abstract: Methods and apparatus for adjusting the brightness level of a display (LCD) can separately store index information corresponding to each brightness level of the LCD according to which of a plurality of types of power are being used. Further, when the type of power of the system is changed, the index information corresponding to the power being used (e.g., changed power) is preferably read in order to adjust the brightness level of the LCD. Therefore, it is possible to maintain a preadjusted brightness level of the LCD by a user in a corresponding power mode.

Abstract: Disclosed is a chip-on-glass type liquid crystal display (LCD). The LCD is directed to provide a construction in a way that, while each wiring for supplying driver circuits with a driving voltage is directly formed on an LCD panel through application of COG (Chip-On-Glass) technology for producing TFT-LCD, even though the wirings are connected in series between the driver circuits, the driving voltage capable of normally operating the driver circuits is supplied to all driver circuits. To this end, in consideration of a voltage drop at the panel wiring, by increasing and outputting a driving voltage, the driving voltage inputted into an nth driver circuit is made to be equal to the driving voltage inputted into an (n+1)th driver circuit.

Abstract: In a case where a frame display is provided on a display screen of a liquid crystal panel, the prior art necessitates data for frame display to be directly written to all the display data or 2 screenful of data to be prepared and overwritten on each other. To overcome this problem, a liquid crystal display device of the invention has an arrangement wherein a segment electrode and a common electrode constituting a pixel to be driven for normal image display are applied with a driving waveform from a driver IC, and wherein a common electrode to be placed in a normally ON state is applied with a waveform exceeding a selection voltage of any segment signal waveform for liquid crystal selection while a segment electrode to be placed in a normally ON state is applied with a waveform exceeding a selection voltage of any common signal for liquid crystal selection. Abstract: A method and system for computer aided design (CAD) is disclosed for designing geometric objects. The present invention interpolates and/or blends between such geometric objects sufficiently fast so that real time deformation of such objects occurs while deformation data is being input. Thus, a user designing with the present invention obtains immediate feedback to input modifications without separately entering a command for performing such deformations. The present invention utilizes novel computational techniques for blending between geometric objects, wherein weighted sums of points on the geometric objects are used in deriving a new blended geometric object. The present invention is particularly useful for designing the shape of surfaces. Thus, the present invention is applicable to various design domains such as the design of, e.g., bottles, vehicles, and watercraft.

After that, each image tile is further converted by the use of Wavelet Coding Algorithm to a data string that can represent multiple resolution levels of the image. Further, the mesh is also divided into multiple tiles to respectively correspond to the partitioned image tiles. After the feature parameter of each mesh tile is obtained, the rendering resolution of the image tile, which is intended to be pasted on the mesh tile, can be determined by the feature parameter.

Abstract: A system and method of facilitating data visualization provides for receiving a user response to a data entry interface via a network, where the user response defines a first data set and a second data set. Data points in the first and second data sets include dependent variable values. A first chart is generated based on the first data set and a second chart is generated based on the second data set. An appearance of the second chart is modified if a user-selected area of the first chart corresponds to a first data point in the first data set and the first data point has a predetermined relationship with a second data point in the second data set.

Abstract: A system and method of facilitating data visualization provides for plotting a plurality of independent variable values along an axis of a web-based chart. The plurality of independent variable values corresponds to a plurality of data points. Notification of a user selection of an area of the chart is received and a dependent variable of a particular data point is animated as a speedometer reading if the selected area corresponds to an independent variable value of the particular data point.

Abstract: An animation image generating program is provided which allows animation images to be readily generated by CG without complicated setups, and more particularly the animation image generating program is suited to generate a plurality of types of face animation images by CG. The animation image generating program includes the steps of controlling selection of specific vertices of a standard model and a user model, providing control such that first target vertices are associated with second target vertices where the first target vertices are the selected specific vertices of the standard model and the second target vertices are the selected specific vertices of the user model, providing control by arithmetic means such that coordinates of the first target vertices approximate to those of the second target vertices, to generate fitting information, and animating the user model based on animation data of the standard model and on the fitting information.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the architecture and use of a computer system optimized for the efficient modeling of graphics. The computer system has a primary processor and a graphics processor. The primary processor has two vector processor units within it, one which is closely connected to central processor unit. Simultaneously performing complex modeling calculations on the first vector processor and CPU, and geometry transformation calculations on the second vector processor, allows for efficient modeling of graphics. Furthermore, the graphics processor is optimized to rapidly switch between data flows from the two vector processors. In addition, the graphics processor is able to render many pixels simultaneously, and has a local memory on the graphics processor chip that acts as a frame buffer, texture buffer, and z buffer. This allows a high fill rate to the frame buffer.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing a BLT (BLock Transfer). In accordance with one embodiment, a method uses a texture-mapping subsystem to perform the BLT by configuring the texture-mapping subsystem with coordinate values corresponding to a block of pixels to be transferred. In accordance with another embodiment, an apparatus comprises logic for defining a texture map from a source segment of memory corresponding to a frame buffer, logic for configuring a texture-mapping subsystem with coordinate values corresponding to a first block of pixels on a display, logic for using a texture-mapping subsystem to apply the texture map defined by the configured coordinate values to a destination segment of memory corresponding to a second block of pixels on the graphic display, wherein the application of the texture map effects a BLT of the data from the first block of pixels to the second block of pixels.

Abstract: A method mines unknown content of a video by first selecting one or more low-level features of the video. For each selected feature, or combination of features, time series data is generated. The time series data is then self-correlated to identify similar segments of the video according to the low-level features. The similar segments are grouped into clusters to discover high-level patterns in the unknown content of video.
