  • Patent number: 6782640
Abstract: A custom conformable device that supports and cushions a user's anatomical part, such the foot. The device is self-inflating, conforms to the shape of the user's foot, utilizes an inflatable bladder with a valve, and contains an expandable material such as an open cell foam. When the valve is open the expandable material expands, causing the bladder to inflate and to conform to the shape of the user's anatomical part. Once the desired shape is achieved, the valve is closed, sealing the bladder. Once the bladder is sealed, the expandable material retains the shape of the user's anatomical part. The user may open the valve to adjust the level of support provided by the device by allowing more fluid to enter the bladder, or by forcing fluid to exit the bladder.

  • Patent number: 6782641
Abstract: The present invention comprises a multilayered heel construction for footwear. A fluid-filled bladder is incorporated into the heel of footwear. The bladder defines an internal cavity which is adapted to enclose a fluid at atmospheric pressure. The internal cavity defines a peripheral channel adjacent the periphery of the bladder and a plurality of intersecting channels orientated transversely to the longitudinal axis of the footwear. The intersecting channels are in communication with the peripheral channel of the interior cavity. The bladder is positioned at the heel of the footwear and is positioned intermediate an upper footbed support. The lower surface of the multilayered heel assembly defines a concave, cantilever surface. The combination of the bladder, the upper footbed support and the lower cantilever surface improve shock absorption and the stability of the footwear.

  • Patent number: 6782643
Abstract: An orthotic insert having an angled lateral surface that engages the insole so as to pivot the insert in a lateral direction and invert the rearfoot at heel strike, and a medial bottom surface that freely interfits within the heel counter and insole of the shoe so as to avoid limiting pivoting motion in the medial direction as the weight on the foot shifts forwardly and medially. Pivoting motion in the medial direction is arrested by engagement between a distal medial portion of the rigid plate member and the insole along the transverse plane of the shoe. The distal medial portion of the plate member is located generally proximal and beneath the first metatarsal head of the foot. The upwardly angled medial surface of the post permits the post to fit optimally within the heel area of the shoe and also avoids interference between the heel counter/insole and the post that would impair proper operation of the insert.

  • Patent number: 6782645
Abstract: A safety guard system and deactivation device for protection of an operator of a garment press. A guard bar is manipulated in concert with movement of a press head between operative and inoperative positions. Manipulation of the guard bar reciprocates an activation device for sequentially activating actuatable valves which control the transmission of pressurized air to a head closing piston and cylinder for press head movement. A deactivation device is positioned proximal to the activation device to control reciprocation thereof. The deactivation device is retracted when pressurized air is interrupted to the garment press, resulting in restraint of activation device and deactivation of the actuatable valves, along with movement of the press head and guard bar to an inoperative position.

  • Patent number: 6782650
Abstract: The invention is directed to a nodular nickel boron coating having lubricating properties. Nodular and columnar boron coatings made by the above methods disclosed in the above patents have a low coefficient of friction. The above process results in a columnar structure with nodules in the surface layer. Nodules can be produced in other nickel coatings by blasting the surface with hard particles to form the nodules. Using blasting to form the nodules produces an inferior coating in contrast to the electroless nickel boron coatings having a columnar structure.

  • Patent number: 6782652
Abstract: A rail cover may be snapped on or off the side of Picatinny rail mounted to a weapon, such as a rifle. The rail cover protects the user from the teeth of the rail and from heat generated during repeated firing. The rail cover is readily installed or removed from the side, rather than being slipped over the end of the rail, by pressing it onto the rail or by prying it off the rail. The slightly flexible rail cover is preferably made of a polymer to which a rubberizing agent has been added and by forming grooves in its top surface. In addition to improving flexibility, the grooves also improve the user's grip on the rail cover. Locking tabs on the underside of the rail cover, dimensioned to fit in the grooves between adjacent teeth of the Picatinny rail, prevent axial movement of the rail cover when it is installed.

When the vacuum is created, a cleanliness element rests against the free edge of the opening of the container in a position which is sealed by means of a liner. The cleanliness element comprises a sieve which retains solid materials inside the container during suction. The cleanliness element subsequently retracts on a plane of its own, wiping the free end of the opening in order to remove debris and solid particles which could prevent the opening from being sealed in a desired manner.

  • Patent number: 6782677
Abstract: A tablet detecting system ascertains whether a tablet exists in a receiving hole of a loader unit used for a molding tablet supplying apparatus or, if exists, whether the tablet has a standard size, by using a mechanical contact manner. The tablet detecting system has a push rod, a contact head, an insulation plate, a conductive assembly and a control unit. The push rod is inserted into the receiving hole and moves upward just as high as the tablet. The contact head is formed on a top of the push rod and the insulation plate is located over the contact head. The conductive assembly is formed in the insulation plate and the control unit is electrically connected to the conductive assembly. When the tablet in the receiving hole has a standard size, the contact head mechanically touches the conductive assembly and gives electrical connection to the conductive assembly, and the control unit senses the electrical connection.

  • Patent number: 6782679
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for applying flexible straps around objects include a feed and tension unit a feed drive wheel and a feed pinch wheel, a primary tension drive wheel and a primary tension pinch wheel, and a secondary tension drive wheel and a secondary tension pinch wheel, wherein at least one of the pinch wheels is controllably biased against the respective drive wheel by a solenoid that is controlled in two stages: a first stage that provides a full feed or tensioning force and a second stage that provides a reduced feed or tensioning force by altering the pulse width modulation of the solenoid. In another embodiment, the three sets of wheels of the feed and tension unit are configured to provide a simplified “V-shaped” strap path that reduces bending of the strap, thereby reducing friction and consequent feeding difficulties.

Abstract: An agricultural machine includes a wheel at each end of a transverse main frame with each wheel being carried by a vertically pivotal link to which an extensible and retractable actuating device is coupled for effecting vertical adjustment of the frame relative to the ground. The upper end of each actuating device is attached to a further link which is vertically pivotally mounted to the frame and has its upward movement resisted by a frame-mounted spring so as to dampen forces imposed on the wheel by the terrain. Each further link may be selectively locked to the frame so as to eliminate the function of the associated spring.
