Publication number: 20040244174Abstract: A system for verifying the quality of a pressing operation of a press-fit part onto a receiving portion of a receiving assembly. The system is applicable to the installation of a bearing cup onto a shaft, or a valve seat into a cylinder head. A probe measures a predetermined dimension of the press-fit part to establish a first measurement value. In the case of a valve seat installed a receiving pocket of a cylinder head, a measuring probe is inserted into the receiving pocket of the cylinder head to measure its depth. The depth is recorded as a second measurement value. The valve seat is then pressed into the pocket, and the residual depth is measured to determine the distance between the outermost surface of the pressed in valve seat and the outer surface of the receiving pocket. A computation compares the depth of the pocket against the thickness of the valve seat to determine a difference which is then compared to the residual depth.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Inventors: James C. The outside face of the elevation flange has one or more areas shaped as a decorative molding detail to create the appearance of a case mailbox. The base flange has an inside face in a pattern of raised longitudinal ribs that define a grooved surface. The open channel of the mailbox is created by cutting two equal-length billets from the extruded bar, welding them together facing each other, attaching a back pate, a hinged door plate and an ornamental cast metal roof. The appearance of the finished box creates the illusion of a cast metal mailbox.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2003Publication date: December 9, 2004Applicant: SPRING CITY ELECTRICAL MANUFACTURING COMPANYInventors: Charles Lanyon, James K. Publication number: 20040244178Abstract: An improved pot and pan washing machine is provided including wash tank, a self-draining parallel flow pump connected to the wash tank, a self-cleaning intake manifold within the wash tank, flush mounted jet nozzles within the wash tank, and a non-welded field joint for connecting two portions of the washing machine together as a single unit. The pump is located on a side of the wash tank. Fluid enters the pump in a first direction and is discharged in a second direction that is substantially parallel to the first direction. The discharge fluid is unobstructed as it enters an outlet manifold located along the rear wall of the wash tank. Directional tubes of the nozzles then divert the fluid from the outlet manifold into jet streams that are directed towards the bottom wall of the wash tank. The jet streams skim across the top of the intake manifold to blow away debris.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Inventors: John Inch, John W. Publication number: 20040244179Abstract: A tool and method for installing an expansion bolt in a remote location where the expansion bolt is not readily accessible. The tool is comprised of a housing having a rod with a puller element on one end slidably mounted in the housing. A barrel is attached to and extends from the front of the housing. The headless screw of an expansion bolt is loosely threaded into the puller element and the barrel of the tool and the bolt are lowered until the expandable anchor on the screw is in or below a hole in a remote support structure. A ratchet in the housing moves the puller within the housing to pull the screw upward while the lower end of the barrel abuts and holds the flange on the anchor portion against the support structure to set the expandable anchor.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 14, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Inventor: Donald B. Publication number: 20040244180Abstract: A fixture adapted to precisely position two components to permit multiple machining operations of the components at a single work station. The fixture includes a backbone having a first portion for securing the first component and a second portion for securing the second component. First and second portions each further include an integral lobe and a finger which extend outwardly from the backbone, each terminating in a datum surface, as well as an additional datum surface which collectively form a set of datum locators along both the first and second portions. Each set of datum locators precisely positions the two components at a predetermined distance and orientation from each other.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2003Publication date: December 9, 2004Inventors: Daniel E. Publication number: 20040244181Abstract: A product manufacturing line for manufacturing a product by incorporating a component in a semi-finished product may include a conveyor for conveying the semi-finished product and a preparation area in which necessary preparation for feeding the component is previously made. The preparation area is positioned in front of a worker facing the conveyor. Further, the preparation area has a component storage means for storing a desired number of components and a component feeding means for feeding the component to a position that the worker can take the component. Therefore, the worker can take out the component without turning around, since the worker can take out the component from his or her front side.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Inventors: Yoshiharu Nakamura, Takeshi Sakamaki

Publication number: 20040244183Abstract: A solid state angular rate sensor is fabricated by preparation of a disc-shaped base structure (10) having first and second outer layers of a piezo-electric ceramic material, built up from a number of layers of a ceramic sheet or film that is capable of being tape-cast. The layers are then sintered and an inner layer of metallic material is provided between the outer layers, to complete a piezo-electric base structure having an inner electrode (15) between the sintered outer layers. Arrays of electrode structures are provided on the outer layers of the base structure (10), the electrodes radiating from the central region 14 of the base structure (10) and being equi-spaced around the outer edge of the disc (19).Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Inventor: Diana Hodgins
