Abstract: A bracket and a method for installing and anchoring an insert, such as a window, within a frame that forms an opening in a structure. The bracket includes a formed end shaped with a channel to fit over a flange at an outer periphery of the insert. The flange can move within the channel to accommodate motion of the structure. A bracket shank extends from the formed end to fit between a casing of the insert and the frame. A bracket fastener end extends from the shank, and includes one or more holes through which fasteners can attach the bracket to the frame. A number of brackets are placed over the flange of the insert, which may be placed within the opening from the inside of the structure. The insert may be temporarily fastened to the frame, adjusted to a desired position, and then permanently anchored to the frame.

Abstract: The present invention relates to cushioning apparatus having a plurality of intersecting columns, the columns being formed from a thermoplastic, silicone, two-part, or other gel material. The cushioning apparatus are extremely strong and durable yet provide an improved cushioning apparatus. The intersecting columnar configuration of the cushioning apparatus allow for weight to be shared with neighboring column walls. When force is exerted on the columns, the column walls are designed to buckle in the areas of greatest pressure. The column buckling diffuses energy from the areas of highest pressure effectively eliminating pressure points. As the polymer gel collapses within the column walls, the column walls essentially collapse at least partially in a lateral direction allowing pressure to flow away from the areas of greatest pressure to areas of lesser pressure. This provides an improved cushioning surface on which a user can sit, sleep, or other types of cushioning can be provided.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for regenerating a lean NOx adsorber, the NOx adsorber treats exhaust gases created during the combustion of gaseous fuels in general. A bypass line maintains a target regeneration flow of exhaust gas through the NOx adsorber during regeneration regardless of operating demands on the engine. Closed-loop and open-loop control are employed. The closed-loop control employs sensors that determine properties of the exhaust gas during regeneration, and the controller uses those properties to provide an efficient regeneration cycle. A regeneration map is also provided that uses creation of in-cylinder regeneration conditions for the exhaust gas in combination with in-line regeneration conditions for the exhaust gas.

Abstract: In an exhaust gas purification system (1) provided with a continuous regeneration type DPF device (13) and DPF control means (30C), when a collecting quantity (?Pm) of PM exceeds the predetermined judgment collecting quantity (?Pm0), a number-of-regeneration-times coefficient (Rc) serving as an index of the number of regeneration times to a travel distance is compared with a predetermined judgment coefficient value (R0). When the number-of-regeneration-times coefficient (Rc) is smaller than the predetermined judgment coefficient value (R0), automatic traveling regeneration is performed and when the number-of-regeneration-times coefficient (Rc) is equal to or more than the predetermined judgment coefficient value (R0), manual regeneration is performed.

Abstract: In the pressure oscillation generator 1, self-excited vibration is generated in a work transfer tube 30 by heating a heat input section 22 and also a resonator 50 is resonated, and when a work is inputted into a heat exchanger 20, the work is amplified by the heat exchanger 20, and is transferred to the heat transfer tube 30 and is then outputted to an output section 40. Because of the configuration, an outputted work can be amplified to a work larger than the inputted work, so that, by using a portion of the outputted work as energy for driving the cylinder 10, the pressure oscillation generator 1 can continuously be driven only by heating and without using electric energy generated by a large scale solar system or the like, which enables substantial size reduction of the pressure oscillation generator 1.

Abstract: A closed-loop cooling system is provided for a hydrogen/oxygen based combustor. A combustion reaction between hydrogen and oxygen in the combustor produces steam. The steam is used to generate work from a turbine shaft, which is used to drive a propulsion system for the underwater vessel. After the steam passes through the turbine, the steam is cooled back to liquid water by a condenser that uses a seawater cooling loop to cool the steam into cold water. The cold water is then injected into the combustor, and pumped into passages along the walls of the combustor, thus absorbing the heat. The cold water absorbs this heat until it becomes hot water or steam, which is then injected into the combustor with the hydrogen and oxygen to act as a diluent, thus reducing the reaction temperature of the hydrogen/oxygen combustion reaction. The reaction produces more steam, and the cycle repeats.
