Abstract: An engine combustion device control system is disclosed, wherein, as a flywheel 10 rotates, a detection sensor 70 detects indexes 20a formed on an inner surface of the flywheel 10 to accurately measure the number of engine revolutions and a piston position. The indexes 20a are formed along a circle concentric with a rotational center of the flywheel at a substantially equal spacing and grouped to fall into different kinds of discrete angular sections, making it possible to accurately estimate the number of engine revolutions and the time at which a piston reaches a top dead point. This removes the need for a separate rotating disk other than the flywheel and enables an electronic control unit of an engine to control the timing of injection and ignition of mixed gas in an accurate manner.

Abstract: A load detecting vehicle seat assembly includes a discrete strain gage mounting plate having a specified flatness to produce desired strain gage performance. The strain gage mounting plate is disposed between a strain gage and a vehicle seat component, such as a cushion frame, so that vehicle seat loading is transferred to the strain gage through the mounting plate. The strain gage may be mounted with a central portion secured to a lower vehicle seat component and outward portions secured to an upper vehicle seat component such that only the outward portions of the strain gage contact the strain gage mounting plate, which has a controlled flatness tolerance to produce desired strain gage performance.

Abstract: The resistance to unseating of at least one tire mounted on a mounting rim and inflated to a predetermined pressure is determined by mounting the tire/rim unit on a vehicle in a steering axle position. The vehicle is set in motion in a straight path and stabilized at a predetermined speed. The steering wheel is then rotated to impose a steering angle which is maintained so that the vehicle travels along a circular trajectory arc. If the tire does not unseat, increases in the steering angle are made periodically so that the vehicle travels in progressively tighter circular trajectory arcs until either the tire becomes unseated or the steering wheel reaches its terminal stop.

Abstract: A vacuum sealed SAW pressure sensor is disclosed herein, which includes a sensing element configured as a SAW device (e.g., SAW resonator or SAW delay line) supported by a thin diaphragm. The substrate material can be implemented as a quartz wafer (i.e., a “base” wafer). The SAW device can be configured on one side of the wafer and the diaphragm etched on the opposite side. A quartz micromachined pressure sensor can thus be realized, which operates based on a variation of the surface wave velocity of a SAW device situated on the thin diaphragm. The SAW sensor is generally sealed in a vacuum and diaphragm sustains the sensor, thereby implementing a sensor on a wafer scale while allowing for a cost reduction per chip.

Abstract: A method of implementing a change of format in a system for cutting sheets of corrugated board comprises the application of at least three first longitudinal cuts by a first group of longitudinal-cutter tool and at least three second longitudinal cuts by a second group of longitudinal-cutter tools. All the three longitudinal cuts overlap one another in the conveying direction. In this way, the corrugated board can be exploited more efficiently in the area of format change.

Abstract: The sliding blade microtome is a tissue specimen cutting device including a specimen syringe and an adjustable cutting mechanism for diagonally slicing the specimen. The specimen syringe is a cylindrical shaft having a first end and a second end for holding and supporting a specimen. The first end has a diameter that is smaller than the diameter of the shaft, forming a compressed lip for applying pressure on the specimen prior to slicing by the blade. The pressure used to compress the gelatin and the specimen holds the gelatin and the specimen in a sturdy position to slice the specimen to precision without chatter marks. The specimen is pushed out of the first end of the specimen syringe by a motor mechanism or a manually adjustable micrometer drive.
