The sealing element surrounds the sensor element in a centered position along its longitudinal extension L or on its half facing the measuring gas.

Abstract: A sealing device encloses a range of a base area and/or a cover area of a sensor element, which is accessible through an opening developed in a housing. Because of this, a seal may be achieved between the measured gas region and the reference gas region of the gas sensor, that is constructed using comparatively few individual parts, and, accordingly, also requires fewer method steps in its manufacture and assembly.

The virtual impactor device preferably also includes an acceleration zone having concave and convex sections, which reduces fouling in that area. The virtual impactor device can be combined with various downstream components such as collectors, atomizers and various analytical devices.

Abstract: An explosion-proof gas sensor has a measuring element (2), which generates a measured signal that depends on the concentration of the measured gas and is delimited against the environment by means of a porous, gas-permeable and sintered metal body (7). The sintered metal body (7) has a high mechanical stability, so that the use of additional components, which hinder the diffusion of the gas to be measured into the gas sensor and thus prolong the response time of the gas sensor, can be eliminated.

Abstract: A gas sensor is provided that is delimited from the environment with a preferably replaceable cap (8) made of a porous, gas-permeable and water-impermeable material, especially sintered PTFE. The gas sensor is protected against environmental moisture and can be permanently provided with the cap (8) and with a special calibrating adapter (9) both during the gas measurement and during the necessary calibration. Due to the special design of the cap (8) and the calibrating adapter (9), the gas sensor offers the possibility of remote calibration, which can be carried out with high accuracy and is independent from weather effects, especially wind.

Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and method for detecting the location of a gas leak within a test region. The invention comprises an array of calibrated sensors for measuring a plurality of gas concentrations, a control system coupled to the sensor array for calculating and optionally displaying a direction of higher gas concentration, and, an actuator for moving the sensor array under control of the control system, wherein the control system causes the array of sensors to measure the gas concentrations and move in the direction of higher concentration until a stopping condition is achieved. The stopping condition may be achieved when the measured gas concentration exceeds a predetermined threshold or when the concentration otherwise likely corresponds to the leak location based on a comparison with previously measured values.
