Abstract: A toolbox has a novel reverse deadbolt for a latch and hinge. The latch engaging mechanism has attached deadbolts or latching rods which are linearly opposed to each other. Each latch rod mechanism has a hook on the end. This hook effectively reverses the direction of the deadbolt. Thus, when engaged the deadbolt locks around the receiver pins and moves inward. The hinge has a first first engaging face that is generally concave radially around a longitudinal axis, and a second engaging face that is generally convex radially around the longitudinal axis. The engaging faces rotate relative to one another around the longitudinal axis in cooperation sufficiently close to allow water to enter them. A passage in the second element is disposed to drain fluid from a fluid communication with the engagement between the engaging faces.

Abstract: The upper portion of a magnetoresistive film is interposed between insulators in the lateral direction of a recording track in a current-perpendicular-to-the-plane structure magnetoresistive element. Domain control magnetic layers sandwich the upper portion of the magnetoresistive film along with the insulators in the lateral direction. The insulators serve to establish a narrower path for electric current between the lower portion of the magnetoresistive film and an upper electrode layer. The substantial width in the lateral direction can thus be reduced in the magnetoresistive film. In addition, a longitudinal biasing magnetic field established between the domain control magnetic layers efficiently acts on the magnetoresistive film. In particular, if a free magnetic layer is included in the upper portion of the magnetoresistive film, the free magnetic layer can be subjected to a larger longitudinal biasing magnetic field. A single domain property can be realized in the free ferromagnetic layer enough.

Abstract: A developing roller 20 included in a developing device 1 and a photoconductor drum 100 are located adjacently to or in contact with each other. A toner absorbed on the surface of the developing roller 20 moves to the photoconductor drum 100 by an electrostatic force, whereby an electrostatic latent image is formed. The developing roller 20 has on the surface thereof a developing sleeve 30. On the surface of a base 31 of the developing sleeve 30, an electroless nickel plating layer 32 is formed. Further, on the surface of the nickel plating layer 32, a nickel oxide coating 33 is formed. The nickel oxide coating 33 passivates the surface of the developing sleeve 30 to thereby suppress the tendency of the toner charge to dissipate as a result of nickel plating treatment, thus permitting the toner charge holding property to be maintained in a favorable state.

Abstract: A jigsaw having a housing 4,6 and a support shoe 38 pivotable relative to the housing is disclosed. A bridge member 42 is mounted to the support shoe 38 and is connected to a connector piece 44 to define a conduit for transporting air from a duct in the housing, connected to a fan for cooling a motor in the housing, to a location at which a jigsaw blade of the jigsaw cuts through a workpiece. Actuation of a trigger 10 on the housing supplies power to a motor in the housing, which causes reciprocating motion of the jigsaw blade, and causes the fan in the housing to expel air through bridge member 42. Air is directed from bridge member 42 onto the jigsaw blade in a direction transverse to a line of cutting action of the jigsaw. This enables 10 the outlet of bridge member 42 to be located very close to the jigsaw blade without obscuring the user's view of the blade, and blows dust away from the line to be cut by the jigsaw 2.

Abstract: A long-handled shears with a detachable connecting device has an operational grip stick with an elongated tube and a wire, a grass shears, and a connecting device attached between the grip stick and the grass shears. The ball is attached to the wire of the grip stick. The base is mounted on the elongated tube, allows the wire to extend through the base and engages the grass shears by a clamp. The engaging block is movably mounted inside a grip of the grass shears and has a ball recess. When the grip of the grass shears is compressed, the engaging block moves aside to reveal the ball recess to allow the ball to enter the ball recess. Then, the handle is released to lock the ball inside the ball recess. By engaging the ball and the engaging block, the grass shears detachably attaches to the grip stick conveniently.

Abstract: A plastic cutlery item molded from a plastic material, such as polystyrene, having a metallic coating that imparts to this cutlery item the appearance of metal cutlery or silverware. In one embodiment the plastic cutlery or tableware items are molded using injection molding techniques, and subjected to a vacuum metallizing process in an individualized non-contiguous manner, where a thin metallic layer is deposited on at least one of their surfaces. The resultant items simulate the appearance of metal cutlery or tableware. In one embodiment of the invention the plastic cutlery or tableware articles are molded from a clear polystyrene resin and are coated with a thin stainless steel layer through vacuum sputtering deposition on only one of the sides. The abrasion resistance of the metallic coating can be enhanced by subjecting the articles to a post-metallizing holding period or by applying a clear protective overcoat.
