Abstract: An image forming method and system using extensible hypertext markup language (XHTML)-Print data in an image forming system having an image forming apparatus printing an image, and a device connected to the image forming apparatus includes setting layout information of an image, generating HXTML-Print data from the set layout information, and storing the XHTML-Print data in a storage unit. According to the method and system, by writing layout information of the image in an XHTML-Print language and storing the information, when an identical image to the image is to be printed in the identical layout to the set layout information, the image forming system can print the image by using the XHTML-Print data of the stored layout information without resetting the layout information.

Abstract: A method and system for performing error diffusion is disclosed. An error value for a pixel may be received and used to determine one or more error diffusion values. The error diffusion values may be determined by performing bit shifting of the error value. Truncation of the error diffusion values may result in a difference between the error value and a sum of the error diffusion values. This difference may be compensated for by adding error compensation values to the error diffusion values to yield compensated error diffusion values. The compensated error diffusion values may then be diffused to appropriate destination pixels.

A frequency generator outputs an FG pulse of frequency corresponding to the rotational speed of a spindle motor used for rotationally driving the optical disk. The edge of the FG pulse detected by an edge detection section is counted by an FG counter. An angle counter measures the duration of a time from appearance of an edge of the FG pulse until a point in time when the mark affixed to the optical disk 1 is detected. A count value of the FG counter, which has been acquired at the point in time when the mark is detected, and a count value of the angle counter are saved. In a case where a visible image is rendered, encoding of a visible image to be rendered is started when the count value of the FG counter and the count value of the angle counter have become equal to the respective saved values.

Abstract: The calling image forming apparatus includes an image processing unit that encodes read image data, a communication controlling unit and modem that performs facsimile transmission for each page of encoded data that has been encoded, and an image memory that stores confidential data, which are data that should be confidential for the communication counterpart (callee). When the facsimile transmission is performed for each page of the encoded data, the image forming apparatus notifies the counterpart image forming apparatus that the confidential data are added and transmitted at the end of the page and performs the facsimile transmission of the confidential data added to the end of the page when a notification of transmission permission is received from the image forming apparatus.

Abstract: Present systems and methods provide for adaptive job-size prediction that can enable the user of a scan-to-export function to obtain continuing feedback as original documents are being scanned, regarding the transferability of a scanned and processed data file. The compression method that is selected to process a scanned image is used to predict the output size for the associated data and to provide an estimated size for the job. The estimated size of the data being prepared for output is compared to the amount of storage space that is available at the target device and if the estimate exceeds available space, a signal is generated to terminate the scan or take other appropriate action. The user is also immediately notified if the transfer will fail for other reasons, such as the entry of an invalid target destination address or invalid user authentication.
