Abstract: A color interpolation method and apparatus for interpolating missing color signals for each pixel of an image sensor. The color interpolation method includes forming a difference image channel by subtracting an R or B color value from a G color value in pixels adjacent to a pixel to be interpolated, detecting the direction of an edge to which the pixel to be interpolated belongs and selecting adjacent pixels to be used for color interpolation. By calculating a weight value indicating the direction of the edge and providing the weight value to the adjacent pixels to be used for color interpolation, and using the difference image values of the adjacent pixels and the weight values, a color component missing in the pixel to be interpolated can be calculated.

Abstract: A video image conversion method is for converting interlaced image into progressive image. The deinterlacing method for the video system is for converting the interlaced image into the progressive image. The method performs an interpolation algorithm based on the pixel value of a reference field. An inter-field estimation on the pixel values is performed by referring to a predetermined value to calculate difference value between specific vicinity pixel value and predetermined value, to obtain a set of pixel values, corresponding to the minimum value of summation of a set of pixel difference values. The pixel value corresponding to the auxiliary field is interpolated. The reference field and the auxiliary filed are also referred as the odd field and the even field, where neither the interlacing order nor the respective correspondence is constrained. The method further detects a still motion, such that the flickering is effectively eliminated in another interpolation mode.

Abstract: A VA mode LCD obtains a wide viewing angle without forming cutouts or protrusions in the common electrode. A pixel electrode has a cutout; a direction control electrode overlaps the cutout; a first storage electrode overlaps the pixel electrode; and a second storage electrode overlaps the direction control electrode. The pixel electrode has plurality of partitions, each partition has two major edges that are parallel to each other. In the present invention, the electric field generated by the direction control electrode pre-tilts the LC molecules by maintaining the direction control electrode voltage with respect to the common voltage higher than the pixel electrode voltage with respect to the common voltage. The LC molecules in each partition receive horizontal components of electric fields that are substantially perpendicular to the major edges thereby sorting the LC molecules into four tilt directions and thus widening the reference viewing angle according to the tilt directions of the LC molecules.

Abstract: A thin film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display panel and fabrication method are described. The panel has a data line and a gate line connected with a TFT and formed on the same layer. One of data or gate lines is discontinuous and the other is continuous in a pixel region such that the continuous line bisects the discontinuous line. A passivation film protects the TFT. Contact holes penetrate the passivation film and expose segments of the discontinuous line. A contact electrode connects the segments through the contact holes.
