Abstract: An antenna for generating electron spin radiation corresponding to a signal from a radio frequency communications device includes a substantially cylindrical conductor, a first spiral-wound flat inductor, a second spiral-wound flat inductor and a reactive element. The first spiral-wound flat inductor is wound in relation to the second spiral-wound flat inductor so that when a current flows from the first signal terminal to the second signal terminal, a first magnetic field is generated from the first spiral-wound flat inductor and a second magnetic field is generated from the second spiral-wound flat inductor. The first magnetic field is in an opposite direction from the second magnetic field. The substantially cylindrical conductor is disposed so as to intersect the first magnetic field and the second magnetic field. The antenna may also be used to receive electron spin radiation.

Abstract: There has been a problem that power consumption is increased if a potential of a signal line changes every time a video signal is applied to a driving transistor from the signal line, since the parasitic capacitance of the signal line stores and releases electric charges. In a configuration of a display portion provided with a gate signal line for selecting an input of a video signal to a pixel and a source signal line for inputting a video signal to the pixel, a switch is connected in series with the source signal line, the switch being controlled to be in on state when the pixel is not selected by the gate signal line, and in off state when the pixel is selected by the gate signal line. Accordingly, the parasitic capacitance of the source signal line which stores and releases electric charges affects only pixels between an output side of a source driver up to and including the pixel selected to be written with a video signal.

Abstract: A method for improving liquid crystal spatial light modulator (10) uniformity is disclosed wherein an original code value (40) is obtained for a first pixel and a conditioned code value (50) is assigned to the first pixel. The conditioned code value is determined by characterizing the luminance response of a sample pixel of the spatial light modulator and defining an interpolation zone (18) for code values bounded between a minimum luminance code value and a threshold code value (16) for the sample pixel. The threshold value corresponds to a luminance level at which there is a generally linear relationship of luminance to code values. If the original code value lies within the interpolation zone, an interpolated value is calculated as the conditioned code value. Abstract: In an electroluminescence display device having, on a display panel, a display portion in which pixels are arranged in matrix, an external connection terminal is placed along a lateral side of the display panel and a vertical scan driver circuit is placed on a lateral side of the display panel which opposes the lateral side on which the external connection terminal is placed. Lines for a horizontal scan driver circuit and for the vertical scan driver circuit can be provided only on three sides of the display panel including the side on which the external connection terminal is provided, a side opposing this side, and another side. By not placing the line for the driver circuits on the remaining side, spaces can be secured on this side for a drive current line which supplies power to an electroluminescence element. With this structure, a size of a frame portion can be reduced while securing sufficient width for the drive current common line.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) driving method is provided. A pixel of the LCD is driven according to a precharge pixel value and a compensation pixel value both being generated from a pixel value during a precharge field and a compensation field respectively. A precharge driving voltage corresponding to the precharge pixel value, and a compensation driving voltage corresponding to the compensation pixel value is then determined and used to drive the pixel. The lightness of the pixel driven according to the precharge pixel value and the compensation pixel value is substantially the same as the lightness of the pixel if driven according to the pixel value. The precharge field comes before the compensation field when the precharge pixel value is larger than the compensation pixel value, and the compensation field comes before the precharge field when the compensation pixel value is larger than the precharge pixel value.

Abstract: The present invention uses a voltage swing waveform that changes the Vcom voltage level at the half-frame time to achieve a row inversion effect. As such, the Vcom swing frequency is equal to the frame refreshing rate. As Vcom is provided to the LCD panel for driving the pixels, the voltage swing between two polarities may partially or fully charge some parasitic capacitance in each of the pixels. By reducing the Vcom swing frequency, the power consumption associated with the parasitic capacitance can be substantially reduced. Furthermore, in the driving scheme of the present invention, one half of a frame time is used for driving all odd-numbered rows consecutively and the other half of the frame time is used for driving all even-numbered rows consecutively.

The viewing angle characteristics of low gradations are improved by the capacitive coupling HT method. The viewing angle characteristics of high gradations above the intermediate gradation are improved by the driving HT method. A liquid crystal is driven using the capacitive coupling HT method and the driving HT method in combination to combine the effect of improvement of both methods, thereby improving the viewing angle characteristics of a liquid crystal display for a wide range from a low gradation to a high gradation.

Abstract: A source driver and an internal data transmission method are provided. The present invention employs specially designed switch units and creates specially designed data paths in a source driver, which matches with the driving method for dot invesion and the specially designed pixel array. When the dot inversion driving method is used on a pixel array of a specific design, each output buffer and digital-to-analog converter inside the source driver continuously output voltages of positive polarity and voltages of negative polarity, instead of switching between positive and negative polarities. Consequently, the swing voltages that the source driver outputs can be lowered, the power consumption can also be reduced accordingly, a smaller area is occupied, and the costs are reduced.
