Abstract: The present invention relates to a power controlling method in a mobile radio communication system using Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) scheme, and more particularly to a power controlling method of response (ACK/NACK) signals for transmitting the ACK/NACK signals in different power based on the permissible probabilities of reception error that the system requires. When the ACK/NACK signals are transmitted and received in the automatic repeat request (ARQ) system, since the ACK/NACK signals can be transmitted in accordance with the transmission power satisfying an error rate required in each signal by differentiating the transmission power of the signal according to each ACK/NACK, the power consumption required in the transmission of the ACK/NACK signals can be reduced.

Abstract: A display device which is used in a miniaturized portable information device can exhibit the low power consumption even when a display is not changed over for a long period in a state that a battery or the like is used as a power source. The display device can maintain a high numerical aperture by suppressing the number of parts even when a memory element is provided to a pixel. In a liquid crystal display device, a pixel exhibits the low power consumption by including a memory element and thus preventing the transmission of a video signal. By making use of a charge held in a pixel electrode of a liquid crystal display panel, a signal for AC driving is formed in the inside of a pixel thus performing AC driving to perform a display without deteriorating liquid crystal even when the video signal is not rewritten. The liquid crystal display device can realize the memory element with the simple constitution without sacrificing a numeral aperture.

Abstract: A display apparatus comprising a receiving unit, a signal-processing unit, and a display device. Histogram distribution data is generated for a luminance level of a video signal output from the signal-processing unit. The apparatus further has a first multiplier, a second multiplier, and a differentiator. The first multiplier multiplies the histogram distribution data by multiplying values, where the higher the luminance level of each part of the histogram data is. The multiplier multiplies the histogram distribution data by multiplying values, where the lower the luminance level of each part of the histogram data is. The differentiator finds a difference between outputs of the first and second multipliers, generating control data that lowers a luminance-adjusting voltage of the display device in accordance with the magnitude ratio of the output from the first multiplier to the output of the second multiplier.

Abstract: A coordinate detection device mounted on an information terminal apparatus is provided. The coordinate detection device includes a substrate that has a wiring region where leading lines to be connected to detection electrodes are located. The leading lines extend in a direction crossing an extension direction of the detection electrodes in the wiring region. The substrate is deformed such that the wiring region is distant from a surface.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes, for example, a touch panel placed over a display screen. For example, when a start of a touch input is detected, the first-touch-input coordinates are determined as object generation coordinates and an object is displayed in the coordinates. When an input direction based on coordinates continuously detected after the object generation coordinates until, for example, a touch-off is determined to be a predetermined direction, the object is moved in a specific direction. Alternatively, an input direction is determined based on coordinates continuously detected after the object generation coordinates until a touch-off, and then, based on the input direction, the direction opposite to the input direction, for example, is determined to be a moving direction and the object is moved in the moving direction.

Abstract: A touch sensor having an acoustic substrate, an acoustic transducer, and an acoustically diffractive grating is provided. The grating is disposed between the transducer and the substrate, so that acoustic energy from the transducer is coupled to an acoustic wave propagating along the surface of the substrate. If used in a display device, the combination of the transducer and grating may provide a low profile that allows the assembly to be more easily placed between the acoustic substrate and a bezel placed in front of the substrate. No acoustic components need be mounted on the rear surface of the substrate, allowing the acoustic substrate to be formed on the front surface of the display device.

Abstract: A pen-type optical mouse includes a pen-type mouse main body, a first and second printed circuit boards disposed on two sides of the interior of the main body and in a direction parallel to the central axis of the main body respectively, a light emitting element mounted on the printed circuit board, a sensor die mounted on the other side of the printed circuit board opposite to the side on which the light emitting element is mounted, and an imaging system for guiding light emitted from the light emitting element to be irradiated onto and reflected by a work surface and then guiding the reflected light so as to be imaged and incident on the sensor die. As the light emitting element and the sensor die are arranged on opposite sides of the same printed circuit board, light emitted from the light emitting element is prevented from being directly incident on the sensor die so as not to reduce the contrast of images.

The track has a first fixing point and a second fixing point. The extending component has a protrusion capable of sliding with respect to the track. The elastic member is disposed between the bushing and the extending component. The protrusion is capable of sliding between the first fixing point and the second fixing point in the track. The elastic member provides a restoring force to hold the protrusion in place when the protrusion is at the first fixing point and the second fixing point.

Abstract: A handheld electronic device includes a reduced QWERTY keyboard and is enabled with disambiguation software that is operable to disambiguate compound word text input. The device provides output in the form of a default output and a number of variants. The output is based largely upon the frequency, i.e., the likelihood that a user intended a particular output, but various features of the device provide additional variants that are not based solely on frequency and rather are provided by various logic structures resident on the device.

Abstract: A device for digitally generating a plurality of still pictures consist of a bistable reflective full color flat panel display such as an interference modulation flat panel display (IMD), a coated non-glare coating on the viewing side of the display panel, a cartridge shaped CPU, and a cartridge shaped audio/video playback system which are located in the picture frame. The reflective display disclosed in this patent resembles a traditional painting or photograph, and allows better viewability and reduces eye fatigue linked with luminous display device. The reflective flat panel display has bistable characteristics and therefore it consumes extremely low power in a still picture display state, and it is preferably powered by a set of batteries. The device is a structure resembling a framed picture, portrait, or a painting used in a home, hotel, museum, gallery, building corridor, or any people gathering place, and the displayed content can be easily changed digitally.

A compensation factor extractor extracts the compensation factor corresponding to the pixel from storage, based on the position data of the pixel, and a compensator compensates brightness of each pixel based on the extracted compensation factor. The video processing apparatus and method provide for display of video images with adequate brightness depending on the displaying and viewing positions.
