Patent number: 7175974Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an organic anti-reflective coating composition and a method for forming photoresist patterns using the same. The anti-reflective coating compositions are useful for preventing reflection of a lower film layer or a substrate of a photoresist film, reducing standing waves caused by light and variations in the thickness of the photoresist itself, and increasing the uniformity of the photoresist patterns. More particularly, the present invention relates to an organic anti-reflective coating composition comprising particular organo-silicon based polymers and a method for forming photoresist patterns using the same. The organic anti-reflective coating composition can prevent excessive absorbency of an anti-reflective film formed therefrom and, thus, minimize the reflectivity of the film so that it can efficiently remove standing waves and increase the uniformity of the photoresist pattern.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2006Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: Hynix Semiconductor Inc.Inventors: Jae-chang Jung, Ki-soo Shin

Patent number: 7175984Abstract: Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) causes serious economic losses in swine. The present invention determined that CD 151 is a susceptibility factor for PRRSV infection by transfecting a cell line which is not susceptible to PRRSV infection (BHK-21) with CD 151, which rendered the cell line susceptible. Because CD 151 can be accessed in cellular material including blood platelets and germplasm, the present invention provides a non-invasive method of screening different swine for susceptibility to PRRSV, thereby improving breeding plans. In the case of a valuable animal, results from such screening can indicate any offspring's susceptibility to PPRSV. Additionally, the viral RNA-CD 151 interaction possesses high affinity and can be used as a tool to detect anti-viral compounds which can be further improved by using combinatorial chemistry. Accordingly, anti-viral compounds that can block the viral RNA-CD 151 interaction can be developed.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2002Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Inventors: Sanjay Kapil, Kumar Shanmukhappa

Patent number: 7176003Abstract: A method of determining the length of a particular region within a nucleic acid, the method comprising a) subjecting a sample of the nucleic acid to a plurality of amplification reactions in which the region is amplified, wherein the time of the extension phase in each of the reactions is varied; b) monitoring the progress of the amplification reactions; c) determining the minimum time during which extension phase of the amplification is completed within each reaction mixture and relating that to the length of the sequence undergoing extension. The method, combined with melting point analysis, will allow percentage GC content of a sequence to be determined. Length analysis of this type can be used in diagnosis or analysis as well as in recombinant DNA technology to check for the presence of concatamers, and in taxonomic classification or forensics. Apparatus for use in the method is also described and claimed.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2001Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: The Secretary of State for DefenceInventors: David James Squirrell, Martin Alan Lee

Patent number: 7176004Abstract: The invention provides improved methods of introducing site-directed mutations into circular DNA molecules of interest by means of mutagenic primer pairs. The mutagenic primer pairs are also selected so as to be either completely complementary or partially complementary to each other, wherein the mutation site (or sites) is located within the region of complementarity. A mutagenic primer pair is annealed to opposite strands of a circular DNA molecule containing the DNA sequence to be mutagenized. After annealing, first and second mutagenized DNA strands, each incorporating a member of the mutagenic oligonucleotide primer pair is synthesized by a linear cyclic amplification reaction. After the linear cyclic amplification mediated synthesis step is completed, the reaction mixture is treated with a selection enzyme that digests the parental template strands. After the digesting step, a double-stranded circular DNA intermediate is formed.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2004Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignees: Stratagene California, Children's Medical Center CorporationInventors: John C. Patent number: 7176005Abstract: Sustained hydrogen production is obtained by the culturing of a genetically-modified algae, where the ability of the chloroplasts to intake sulfate is reduced or eliminated compared to wild-type algae. The alga is cultured in a sealed environment in a liquid or solid medium that contains sulfur, and hydrogen is generated continuously. Alternatively, the algae may be cultured in the presence of bacteria that also produce hydrogen gas. The hydrogen produced can be collected and used as a clean energy source.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2004Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Anastasios Melis, Hsu-Ching Chen Wintz
