The method further includes introducing a vapor form of a non-porous material, preferably parylene, into the chamber. The vapor form of the non-porous material changes into a solid state upon contact with the fiber optic coil, so as to form a conformal coat on the fiber optic coil.

    Abstract: A method directed to the use of a nonvolatile precursor, either a solid or liquid precursor, suitable for CVD, including liquid source CVD (LSCVD). Using the method of the invention the nonvolatile precursor is dissolved in a solvent. Choice of solvent is typically an inorganic compound that has a moderate to high vapor pressure at room temperature, which can be liquified by combination of pressure and cooling. The solution is then transported at an elevated pressure and/or a reduced temperature to the CVD chamber. The solution evaporates at a higher temperature and a lower pressure upon entry to the CVD chamber, and the nonvolatile precursor, in its gaseous state, along with a gas reactant, produces a product which is deposited on a semiconductor wafer. In LSCVD the liquid enters the chamber, contacts the wafer, evaporates, produces a product which is deposited as a thin film.

The total section of the leakage passages has a value lying between a minimum value for ensuring that a maximum gas pressure in the first volume is not exceeded until the end of densification, and a maximum value such that a pressure difference is indeed established between the two volumes from the beginning of densification.

The other surface retains reversible behavior, adapting anisotropy according to the orientation of the polarization of the control beam. Accordingly, an optically controlled liquid crystal light valve is provided that does not require contact-rubbing methods in order to permanently align one of the layers coating an inside surface of the cell.

    Abstract: A pre-textured sealing tape is provided for sealing the chink between the stacked logs in a log structure. A paper, plastic, metal or textile type of backing support material is coated with a thin layer of flexible moisture impermeable material resembling conventional chinking materials. A suitable adhesive can be applied to the opposite side of the support materials with the adhesive covered by a release layer. The tape is cut to the desired width for the chink that is to be sealed and is finished in a rolled configuration. A synthetic resin mixed with a granular material has been found to be suitable for the flexible coating and texturing of the tape. The tape can be applied directly to the logs, between the logs or to objects positioned within the chink, such as splines, insulation sheeting, or plywood panels. The tape can cover the space between simulated logs attached to panels used in simulated log structures.

There is further provided a coating composition which is capable of obtaining a cured film having favorable dyability which is effective to a resin substrate having a poor dyability and, also, capable of suppressing a whitening phenomenon, and a resin product having the coating composition. The coating composition contains (A) component: a polycarbonate diol, (B) component: colloidal particles of a metal oxide, (C) component: a hydrolysate of an organosilane and (D) component: a solvent. The polycarbonate diol functions as an adhesion promoter and is effective in forming the cured film on the resin formed product without applying the pretreatment liquid. Further, since the polycarbonate diol functions also as a dyability imparting agent, the dying performance thereof can be adjusted according to the amount thereof.

    Abstract: A nonmagnetic foundation layer is made to have a body-centered cubic crystal structure with a preferred crystal orientation plane being the bcc (110) plane. Furthermore, the crystal lattice misfit amount between the nonmagnetic intermediate layer 3 and the granular magnetic layer is made to be not more than 10% for each of an a-axis and a c-axis. As a result, epitaxial growth of ferromagnetic crystals in the granular magnetic layer, which has an hcp structure, is promoted, and hence the crystallinity of the magnetic layer is increased, and thus it becomes possible to simultaneously realize an increase in coercivity and a reduction in noise. Depositing the layers on an unheated substrate yields reduces manufacturing costs.
