  • Publication number: 20070044355
Abstract: A large-scale high-visibility, color LED display sign intended for viewing from a long distance is described wherein power is managed by dividing the display sign into two or more distinct sections and providing power to each section from a respective separate power source. As a result, the amount of current drawn from any one source is reduced, thereby reducing require conductor sizes, circuit breaker trip limits, etc. Additionally, in applications where two or more power sources are available, this permits the distribution of the power load from the sign across the multiple sources without requiring bulky, complex and expensive power sharing apparatus. The sign's computer interface electronics are operated (scanned) directly by bus-connected interface circuitry. This eliminates the need for an external image buffer memory, since the computer's local memory acts as an image buffer. The computer serially transmits pixel data to the display via the interface mechanism.

Abstract: Snag-resistant and attractive fishing flies are disclosed. The design employs a filamentary loop on the side opposite the hook point, with weights attached to the filament to form a weighted keel that keeps the fly hook-point up in use. The weights may be moveable beads strung along a springy nylon monofilament so that the fly can bounce off the bottom and the beads can click, sending out sonic signals. Very little weight is needed to keep the fly riding with the hook-point up, because the keel is offset from the hook shank, providing much more leverage than prior art. This bouncing, talking keel structure can be fine-tuned for best action and applied to many well known fly patterns. Variations include continuing the keel filament around the hook point to form a weed-guard, and composing some of a filament on the hook-point side from foam to lighten the fly and stabilize it hook-point up and snag-resistant.

Abstract: A polishing composition containing a silica, an acid, a surfactant, and water, wherein (a) the acid has solubility in water at 25° C. of 1 g or more per 100 g of an aqueous saturated solution; (b) the surfactant is a sulfonic acid represented by the formula (1) or (2), or a salt thereof; and (c) the polishing composition has a pH of a specified range; and a polishing process of a substrate using the polishing composition are provided. The polishing composition is suitably used, for example in polishing a substrate for disk recording media such as magnetic disks, optical disks and opto-magnetic disks.

Abstract: A collection and drainage system for a building to redirect fluid away from the building includes a fluid directing assembly and a wash assembly. The fluid directing assembly includes a gutter having a distal edge and a proximal edge that define an opening for receiving the fluid. A cover extends over the opening and includes a support leg extending downwardly toward the opening. A retainer has an arm for mounting to the building and a catch extending from the arm downwardly toward the opening. The catch receives the support leg for removably mounting the cover to the retainer about the opening of the gutter. Should debris enter into the gutter, the collection and drainage system further includes a wash assembly for providing the gutter with water to push the debris toward a drain.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system, or kit, of injection molded panels having integrated connectors which combine to form an enclosure, commonly in the form of a utility shed. The panels are formed of injection molded plastic to interlock with one another without the need for separate I-beam connectors. The ends of the wall panels have cavities to accept both roof and floor outwardly projecting locking bosses for interlocking cooperative engagement which serve to rigidly connect the components together. The symmetry of the wall, roof, floor and door components also minimizes component shapes and simplifies enclosure construction.

Abstract: A modular building construction where each module consists of self-contained molds to allow concrete to form within the walls of each module as well as between the modules when two or more modules are placed together. The structural load capacities of the modules are transmitted directly into the concrete within the wall without bearing directly on the module below. The forming structure for the modules can be fabricated either using wood or metal construction. The exterior and interior wall finishes are the resulting structure of the molds. Since the molds are self-contained the walls can consist of, either drywall, rigid insulation, thin brick or siding just to name a few. The interior forming structure can extend into the concrete footing or above or to adjacent modules to structurally secure the modules together. The modules can be built with a flooring structure as well as ceiling. The interior walls as well as the floor and ceiling also function as wall supporting braces.

Abstract: An bi-directional mounting bracket assembly is utilized in conjunction with exterior siding that covers sheathing of an exterior wall. A base member of the assembly has a mounting flange secured to the sheathing and a wall arrangement that projects outward with respect to the sheathing and from the mounting flange. Preferably, the wall arrangement supports a raised central panel used for mounting of fixtures. The wall arrangement preferably has four walls extending laterally between the mounting flange and the central panel. Spaced radially outward from the two adjacent walls are respective first and second drip ledges, and spaced radially outward from the other two adjacent walls are respective first and second baffle sets. When the assembly is mounted to the sheathing, a selective one of the two drip ledges is disposed substantially horizontally and beneath the wall arrangement for shedding of water.
