Abstract: A process for conditioning of wastewater treatment brines for deep well injection during recovery of heavy hydrocarbon oils in situ. High pressure steam is used to mobilize oil, which is recovered in a mixture of oil and produced water. The produced water is pre-treated by removing residual oil. The remaining water is acidified and steam stripped to remove non-hydroxide alkalinity and non-condensable gases, and is then fed to a crystallizing evaporator, where it is evaporated from a circulating brine slurry to produce (1) a distillate stream having a trace amount of residual solutes, and (2) evaporator blowdown stream containing, as dissolved or suspended solids, substantially all of the solutes from the produced water feed. The distillate stream is used as boiler feedwater, either directly or after polishing. The evaporator blowdown is conditioned to remove substantially all suspended solids and to produce a clear brine solution for deep well injection.

Abstract: Method and apparatus used to deploy and process eutectic metal alloy material into an oil, gas or water well for the purpose to plug and seal selected downhole casing leaks. The present invention provides an integrated solution for plugging and sealing of selected casing perforations while leaving the casing bore open to the net inside surface thereby eliminating the need for secondary milling or drill out operations. The apparatus consists of a power control unit located at surface and a downhole tool that is lowered into the well by standard wireline cable. The downhole tool delivers the necessary quantity of metal alloy, forms the required temporary bridge plug support for containing the molten alloy, melts the alloy by means of electric heating, heats the surrounding wellbore formation, squeezes the molten alloy through the perforations and recovers any excess alloy for subsequent recycling.

Abstract: A sprinkler head assembly includes a sprinkler head coupling with an interioraly threaded axial passage, an annular shelf surrounding an end of the passage and a sleeve surrounding the shelf and extending an appreciable distance perpendicular thereto. The assembly also includes a sprinkler head having an externally threaded tubular neck that is threadedly engaged in the coupling passage. The neck has a base which defines a valve seat in which a movable valve member is releasably retained by a heat responsive member. The coupling and neck are designed and dimensioned so that when the neck is threaded into the coupling, a dam is present at the inner edge of the shelf that isolates the shelf from the interior of the neck and the valve member thereby preventing any fire protection cement from reaching the valve member in the coupling.
