Patent number: 7216708Abstract: A method and apparatus for stimulating producing strata in oil or gas wells. The formation is penetrated using existing shaped charges, and an oxygen-rich material then is introduced into the producing formation. Thus, oxygen is available within the formation to sustain an explosive reaction with the existing formation hydrocarbons acting as fuel. This explosive reaction will cause fracturing of the formation and will counteract plugging that often results from the use of conventional shaped charges. In one embodiment, a container encloses shaped charges surrounded by oxygen-rich material. The shaped charges are ignited first, perforating the well casing and any surrounding cement. Additional explosive charges at each end of the container then are ignited. This forces the oxygen-rich material into the perforation tunnels. Alternately, the oxygen can be a part of the shaped charge and projected into the formation with the shaped charge to accomplish the same results.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2004Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Inventors: Lesley O. Patent number: 7216729Abstract: A method and system of engine start/stop control for a HEV that monitors the battery and requests a specific engine state based on condition of the battery. A battery parameter such as discharge power limit (DPL) or state of charge (SOC) is compared with a set of threshold levels including a MIN level, an ON level, and an OFF level and the result of the comparison provides inputs to a state machine. The state machine includes an ON state, an OFF state and a OPPORTUNISTIC state. The machine transitions between the various states as a function of DPL and SOC relative to the sets of threshold levels.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2003Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Fazal U. Patent number: 7216731Abstract: A motor-driven wheel includes a wheel disc, a wheel hub, a decelerator, a knuckle, a hub bearing, a constant-velocity joint, an in-wheel motor, and a spring. Since the decelerator is placed closer to the outside of the vehicle relative to the hub bearing, the space where the in-wheel motor is to be mounted can readily be secured. Further, balls are arranged along a spherical external surface of an outer race and the outer race is supported swingably in the axial direction. Thus, even when a great axial force is exerted, the axial force can be endured. The outer race can be supported swingably and rotatably with respect to the wheel hub.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2005Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Takuma Kakinami, Takeo Yamamoto, Shigekazu Yogo

Patent number: 7216732Abstract: The invention relates to a shaft drive unit, in particular an electrical drive unit for driving a wheel shaft in vehicles; having an electrical machine comprising a rotor and a stator; having a transmission unit, comprising at least one input connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the rotor of the electrical machine, and at least one output connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the wheel shaft. The electrical machine, the input and the output of the transmission unit and the wheel shaft are arranged coaxially with respect to one another. The electrical machine has at least one associated converter unit and one associated braking resistor unit. The converter unit forms a physical unit with the electrical machine. The braking resistor unit is arranged in the immediate physical vicinity of the electrical machine and around the circumference of the input or output drive shaft of the electrical machine or of the wheel shaft.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2001Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. Patent number: 7216735Abstract: A hybrid drive system for vehicles. The system includes the connection of an engine and a motor, one as a combustion engine (1) and the other as a pneumatic motor (2), with this connection being made through a mechanical coupling (3) and, at once, through a pneumatic connection between the exhaust (8) of the pneumatic motor (2) and the input (9) of the combustion engine (1), including a control unit (19) which controls both the coupling (3) and the engine (1) and motor (2) and supplementary equipment associated to the latter. The pneumatic and mechanical coupling between both engine (1) and motor (2) provides comburent overfeeding to the combustion engine (1) and, at the same time, a sum of the drives provided by both engine and motor, with this sum of drives being applied to the pertinent clutch (6) of the system, in order to achieve a reduction in the consumption of the latter and greater power.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2003Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Inventor: Francisco Gonzalez Mena
