More specifically, the high voltage and/or low voltage deflection electrode of the may include a non-planar configuration. The non-planar configuration may be achieved by providing the electrode with a convex surface, which faces the ink stream and the other electrode. By using a deflection electrode that has a non-planar configuration, at least a portion of the deflection electrodes may be positioned closer together without increasing the risk of arcing. The ability to place at least a portion of the deflection electrodes closer together may increase the strength of the electric deflection field, thereby allowing the length of the deflection electrodes to be decreased without adversely affecting their ability to deflect charged ink droplets to their intended location on a substrate.

Abstract: A method of curing radiation-curable fluid is described. In one example, the method includes emitting radiation from an array of light-emitting diodes towards ink to be cured. LEDs are cheap, light weight, highly efficient in their conversion of electrical power, and give effectively instant switching to full power. Another advantage is that the emission spectrum of an LED is sharply peaked around the nominal frequency. Thus LEDs give several advantages over conventional radiation sources such as mercury lamps. A low oxygen environment is preferably provided at the radiation source to accelerate the curing reaction. Also described are inks which are specially formulated to respond to the radiation emission spectrum of an LED.

Abstract: Xerographic machines can print documents that have unintentional streaking parallel to the process direction. There are many possible source of the streaking. Currently, the streaking is minimized by using a cross process direction dependent modulation, called a profile, to modulate a modulated light beam being scanned across the photoreceptor. The profile is purely a function of cross process direction position. The profile can minimize, and often eliminate, streaking for any one area coverage, but only for that one area coverage. Different profiles can be produced that work best for different area coverages. Choosing a profile from a group of profiles for use with each scan line can minimize parallel streaking for a wider range of area coverages.

Abstract: Herein described is a system and method for modifying facial video transmitted from a first videophone to a second videophone during a videophone conversation. A videophone comprises a videophone image processing system (VIPS) that stores one or more preferred images. The one or more preferred images may comprise an image of a person presented in an attractive appearance. The one or more preferred images may comprise one or more avatars. Additionally, the VIPS may be used to incorporate one or more facial features of the person into a preferred image or avatar. Furthermore, a replacement background may be incorporated into the preferred image or avatar. The VIPS transmits a preferred image of a first speaker of a first videophone to a second speaker of a second videophone by capturing an actual image of the first speaker and substituting at least a portion of said actual image with a stored image.

Abstract: A visual odometry system and method for a fixed or known calibration of an arbitrary number of cameras in monocular configuration is provided. Images collected from each of the cameras in this distributed aperture system have negligible or absolutely no overlap. The relative pose and configuration of the cameras with respect to each other are assumed to be known and provide a means for determining the three-dimensional poses of all the cameras constrained in any given single camera pose. The cameras may be arranged in different configurations for different applications and are made suitable for mounting on a vehicle or person undergoing general motion. A complete parallel architecture is provided in conjunction with the implementation of the visual odometry method, so that real-time processing can be achieved on a multi-CPU system.

Abstract: The present invention makes a privacy protection area set on a video frame always match a masking block for the privacy protection area, thereby preventing video images taken from the privacy protection area from being exposed. One embodiment of the invention sets a masking zone corresponding to a privacy protection area on a taken video frame, keeps examining if the set masking zone does not match the privacy protection area, and adjusts the position of the masking zone on the video frame if it is determined that the masking zone does not match the privacy protection area, thereby preventing video signals taken from the initially set privacy protection area from being outputted.

The first camera may be a lower resolution than the second camera. The combination of the two cameras permits the transfer functions of the projection system and the first camera to be characterized and reduced to a warping transform that may be stored by the control system. The presence of the warping transform would permit the lower resolution, first camera to perform image realignment after the video projection system is in use by an end user.

Abstract: The ratio is calculated between a first number of pixels and a second number of pixels on an image sensor. The first number of pixels is counted between two certain points projected on the image sensor from a first section of a plane. The second number of pixels is counted between two certain points projected on the image sensor from a second section, adjacent to the first section, of the plane. The number of pixels between two certain points increases if the image sensor gets closer to the plane, while the number of pixels between two certain points decreases if the image sensor gets remoter from the plane. The inclination of the image sensor can be determined relative to the plane based on the ratio between the two numbers of pixels. The attitude or inclination of the image sensor can in this manner be detected with a high accuracy.
