Abstract: A combustion chamber 10 for a gas turbine that operates in a highly diluted mode of combustion has a substantially toroidal plenum 30. At least one combustion fluid injector is located at the periphery of the plenum. The shape of the plenum and the disposition of the combustion fuel injectors are such that a vortex flow 2 is established in the combustion chamber in use. Gasses are entrained in the vortex which provides high enough levels of flue gas re-circulation to allow for the onset of highly diluted combustion.

Abstract: A test module is connectable to the suction line of a condensing unit charged with refrigerant, and also electrically connectable to the unit, and is useable to automatically test for proper operation of the unit without having to connect an external test coil thereto or place pressurized nitrogen therein. After the module is connected to the unit, the unit's compressor is started to operate the unit in an “open loop” manner with no refrigerant recirculation therethrough. The module monitors the suction line pressure. If the sensed pressure reaches a predetermined magnitude within a predetermined time after compressor start-up, the module outputs a first signal indicating proper condensing unit operation. Absent this timely attainment of the predetermined pressure, a second signal is generated to indicate test failure. In the case of a heat pump condensing unit, the module tests for proper heating, cooling and defrost operation.

Abstract: A heat pump system includes a hot gas bypass defrost mechanism which enables normal heat pump operation at low ambient air temperatures, and may be used for heating swimming pools. The bypass defrost mechanism is activated by sensing a drop in compressor suction line pressure, which occurs at low ambient temperatures when frost forms on an evaporator in the heat pump, which disrupts normal heat pump operation. • Publication number: 20070137231
Abstract: When a guard timer of a compressor (141) expires, an R2 signal from a control section (140) of an outdoor unit is turned on (Action I). If a control section (120) of a freezer unit recognizes from an inside temperature detected by a temperature sensor (124) that the R2 signal is turned on and a request for a shift to a freezer thermo-on state is raised (Action II), a freezer electromagnetic valve (121) is opened (Action III). In general, when the electromagnetic valve (121) is opened, it is supposed that an increase in refrigerant suction pressure is detected by a pressure sensor (146) and then the compressor (141) is actuated. However, if an outside air temperature is low, the refrigerant suction pressure remains lower than a predetermined value. Therefore, the control section (120) actuates a booster compressor (131) (Action IV) to raise the refrigerant suction pressure of the compressor (141).

Abstract: There is provided an elongating method of an optical fiber base material which can easily correct a distorted portion of an optical fiber base material with it being possible to elongate the optical fiber base material to reduce its diameter. According to such an elongating method, in an elongating process of elongating an optical fiber base material by heating the optical fiber base material in a heating furnace so that a diameter of the optical fiber base material is reduced, before the optical fiber base material is elongated from an end thereof, a distorted portion of the optical fiber base material is connected by being heated to be softened in the heating furnace. To do so, the optical fiber base material is attached to a hanging mechanism so as to be hung in an electric furnace, the distorted portion of the optical fiber base material is heated to be softened.

Abstract: Inorganic fiber production processes and systems are disclosed. One process includes providing a molten inorganic fiberizable material, forming substantially vertical primary fibers from the molten material, and attenuating the primary fibers using an oxy-fuel fiberization burner. Other processes include forming a composition comprising combustion gases, aspirated air and inorganic fibers, and preheating a fuel stream and/or an oxidant stream prior to combustion in a fiberization burner using heat developed during the process. Flame temperature of fiberization burners may be controlled by monitoring various burner parameters. This abstract allows a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the disclosure. It will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.
