  • Patent number: 7234244
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the position, relative to the grab (1, 2) transporting them, of the end heads used in packing paper, cellulose, and board rolls, when the end head is attached to the grab (1, 2). When measuring, a detector (7) is transported along such a circular curve, which is assumed to be intersected by the circular curve defined by the edge of the end head. the angle position of the detector (7) on the circular curve of its path is measured and the intersection points (x1, z1; x2, z2) of the curve travelled by the detector (7) and the edge of the head are detected. The position of the centre point (x0, z0) of the end head is calculated on the basis of (a) the radius of the circle travelled by the detector and the position of the centre point (xm, zm) of the circle, (b) the position (xt, zt) of the grab's tool point, (c) the assumed radius of the end head, and (d) the positions (x1, z1; x2, z2), of the detected intersection points.

  • Patent number: 7234249
Abstract: A shoe having an anthropomorphic sole that copies the underlying stability, support, and cushioning structures of the human foot. Natural stability is provided by attaching a completely flexible but relatively inelastic shoe sole upper directly to the bottom sole, enveloping the sides of the midsole, instead of attaching it to the top surface of the shoe sole. Doing so puts the flexible side of the shoe upper under tension in reaction to destabilizing sideways forces on the shoe causing it to tilt. That tension force is balanced and in equilibrium because the bottom sole is firmly anchored by body weight, so the destabilizing sideways motion is neutralized by the tension in the flexible sides of the shoe upper. Support and cushioning is provided by shoe sole compartments filled with a pressure-transmitting medium like liquid, gas, or gel. Unlike similar existing systems, direct physical contact occurs between the upper surface and the lower surface of the compartments, providing firm, stable support.

  • Patent number: 7234275
Abstract: One version of the barrier system may include a first barrier and a second barrier, in which each of the first and second barriers may have a support structure and an upwardly-extending structure. In addition, the first barrier may have a retaining structure adapted to facilitate retention of a portion of the upwardly-extending structure of the second barrier when one of the first and second barriers is in an inverted position. This inverted orientation may be especially advantageous when storing a pair of barriers. For example, in such an orientation, the barrier-pair may occupy less floor- or ground-space than two such barriers placed side-by-side. Moreover, depending on the height of the particular storage area, a second pair of similarly inverted barriers may be securely placed on top of the first pair. In this fashion, the barriers occupy relatively little storage space, space which typically is quite limited and therefore valuable.

The deck also includes a plurality of unitary channels. Each channel includes a pair of flanges which mate with longitudinal grooves of immediately adjacent planks. The mating of the flanges of the channel with the grooves of the planks provides the deck with an impervious gutter that extends between and along the two planks, and is located above the joists to which the planks are secured.

  • Patent number: 7234282
Abstract: A modular tower assembly for use with blown film extrusion processes, where modular tower sections each having identical columns/foot prints can be stacked on top of one another. Each module can have rectangular type platforms with walk decks about a central rectangular void middle. Staircases can be built into the side of all decks modules up to the top deck. Each of the four vertical legs of the deck modules has flat plate bottoms to stack on the deck surface of the module beneath, and side cross bracing. Side extension platform deck wings with legs can be used when the central rectangular void is enlarged. The modules can be pre-formed and brought onsite to be erected in a rapid assembly manner by fasteners such as bolts, and be removable as compared to permanent type welded towers. The modular towers can include adjustable bracing components for further stiffening the modular towers to have reduced swaying, twisting and vibrations over time.

Abstract: A foil hood is gathered into a stack of folds and then fitted over four fingers in inner positions of the fingers with the hood open downward. A holding device then clamps the hood against the fingers, the fingers are spread into outer positions to transversely stretch the hood, and then the holding device is disengaged. Finally the fingers are moved downward along the load such that the closed end of the hood engages on the top of the load and the hood is pulled upward fold-by-fold off the fingers through a predetermined position at which generally all of the folds have been pulled off the fingers to an end position at which the hood is stretched vertically over the load and all of the folds have been pulled off the fingers.

  • Patent number: 7234290
Abstract: In manufacturing an aspherical seamless capsule comprises, firstly, a seamless capsule C1 having a filler encapsulated with a shell membrane is provided, then it is dried in a dryer 12 until a predetermined percentage content of solvent in the shell membrane reaches a predetermined value. Subsequently, the seamless capsule is heated by a heater 38 so that the shell material may get to a semi-sol state. Then, the heated seamless capsule is formed into an aspherical shape using a forming machine such as a compression molding machine. Because the spherical seamless capsule has a shell membrane which is dried to get semi-sol so that it may have a reduced elasticity and a shortened stress relaxation time, the capsule can be formed in a short time and suppressed from restoring to the original spherical shape. The semi-sol shell membrane has almost no change in properties, and so allows easiness in temperature control for treatment.
