Abstract: A method of on-board diagnostic (OBD) catalyst monitoring. Vehicle OBD exhaust systems often include a catalyst, a pre-catalyst exhaust gas oxygen sensor, and a post-catalyst exhaust gas oxygen sensor. A method is provided of monitoring the catalyst which includes the steps of measuring hydrogen or nitrogen dioxide generation by the catalyst, and correlating changes in hydrogen or nitrogen dioxide generation to changes in catalytic conversion efficiency. Because OBD legislation defines catalyst deterioration or malfunction in terms of hydrocarbon or nitrogen oxide emission levels, the method uses hydrogen or nitrogen dioxide generation as a metric for OBD monitoring of the catalyst and offers the advantage of a more direct relationship to catalyst health than conventional methods.

Abstract: A procedure for the pressure diagnosis in a reagent substance metering system, which introduces a reagent substance into an exhaust gas area of an internal combustion engine upstream in front of at least one exhaust treatment device as well as a device to implement the procedure is proposed. The reagent substance pressure occurring between a metering valve and a security valve disposed downstream after the metering valve is measured during different operating conditions of the metering valve and/or the security valve and is compared with at least one threshold value. An error signal is provided when the threshold is exceeded. The procedural approach according to the invention allows for a leakage diagnosis of the reagent substance metering system. Furthermore, the procedural approach according to the invention allows for a diagnosis of metering valve and/or the security valve and/or the check valve.

The circulation cooling system of a cryogenic cable according to the present invention has a reserver unit storing a refrigerant and a cable cooling portion cooling down a cable by the refrigerant sent from the reserver unit and the refrigerant sent from the cable cooling portion is returned to the reserver unit again for circulation. The system is characterized in that it has a refrigerant temperature adjustment mechanism to keep constant the amount of the refrigerant within the reserver unit.

The method includes calculating an initial airflow restriction value and a current airflow restriction value, which are compared. If the current airflow restriction value is greater than a first sum including the initial airflow restriction value and a first restriction factor, then a coil condition is preliminarily determined to be freezing and cooling in the HVAC system is stopped.

Abstract: A refrigerant measuring and warning device includes a casing, at least one sensing element, and a detection circuit. The casing forms connectors, which are connected together by a conduit, to selectively connect to sources of refrigerant to be detected. The sensing element has an enclosure forming a connector at an end for connection with the conduit and an interior chamber communicating the connector via a pressure-dropping necked passage, a pressure detection chip and a thermocouple arranged at a top of the chamber for detecting pressure and temperature of the refrigerant to be detected. The detection circuit is housed in the casing and stores multiple sets of reference temperature and pressure for different type of refrigerants for comparison with the detected pressure and temperature, both data being displayed on a display device for visual observation and comparison.

Abstract: An adaptive defrost control system of the present invention monitors an amount of current flowing through the defrost heater to calculate the amount of power delivered thereby. The circuit utilizes a thermistor to monitor the temperature rise of the electrical trace supplying current to the defrost heater to allow the controller to calculate an amount of power delivered thereby. A second thermistor may be used to compensate for a change in ambient temperature that might otherwise be attributed to a change in current flow through the power trace. A physical modification to the power trace to enhance the temperature rise characteristic at the point of placement of the thermistor enhances the accuracy of the calculation. A secondary current flow path around the branch of thermistor placement is also provided so as to not reduce the total current carrying capacity of the power trace.

Abstract: The invention relates to a universal system for producing cost effective energy particularly for cooling purposes. In one embodiment, wind turbines are used to generate electricity and compressed air energy, wherein the compressed air energy is used to co-generate electricity and chilled air. The chilled air is then used to chill water in either a mixing chamber, or a desalination system, wherein the chilled water is stored in a separation tank, wherein it can later be used to provide cooling for an air conditioning system for a facility. When desalination is used, the system produces chilled fresh drinking water which can be used for air conditioning, and then used as fresh drinking water. Any exhaust chilled air can be used directly for air conditioning.
