Publication number: 20070243023Abstract: The invention provides an improved method of collecting biogas from a landfill that results in more complete collection of biogas produced in the landfill, and with less contamination with air. The method involves providing the landfill with an upper gas containment layer near the surface of the landfill to retard biogas escape and air entrainment into the landfill. Underneath the gas containment layer is provided a gas-permeable conductive layer. Underneath the conductive layer, a well withdraws biogas from the landfill. Withdrawal of biogas from the well creates a partial vacuum that draws gas from the gas-permeable conductive layer down through the waste mass to the well. If the rate of gas withdrawal from the well is too rapid, air will be entrained from the atmosphere into the gas-permeable conductive layer. But if the rate of gas withdrawal from the well is too slow, biogas may percolate through the gas-containment layer and the surface of the landfill to escape.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 23, 2007Publication date: October 18, 2007Applicant: Institute for Environmental Management, Inc.Inventors: Don Augenstein, John Benemann, Ramin Yazdani

Publication number: 20070243042Abstract: A slotless locking pull pin having a handle, a pin, a housing, an internal spring and a locking mechanism. The pull pin has an internal spring which biases the pin in its normal extended position. The pull pin has a locking mechanism which locks the pin in its retracted position. The locking mechanism may include locking structure located on the pin and a locking plate located in the housing. The locking structure engages the locking plate and holds the pin in its retracted position.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 23, 2007Publication date: October 18, 2007Inventor: Romy Baus

Publication number: 20070243043Abstract: A thread forming screw having a minimum surface hardness of HRC 56. The screw can form threads in a workpiece having a surface hardness which exceeds HRC 23. A method of surface hardening a screw includes carbon enriching the screw to at least a 0.48 carbon level, and then quenching the screw. Then, the screw is tempered such that the surface hardness does not exceed the core hardness by more than 3 Rockwell C points, and both the surface and core are at a Rockwell C33-C39 hardness. Subsequently, the point is induction hardened, and the screw is quenched again. The screw is again tempered such that the lead threads and the first 3-4 full threads are at a Rockwell C56 minimum hardness, preferably to a depth of at least 0.008 inches, and the core of the fastener is at Rockwell C33-C39 hardness. Finally, a finish is applied.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2007Publication date: October 18, 2007Applicant: ACUMENT INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES, LLCInventors: David R. Price, Gary Shattuck

Publication number: 20070243046Abstract: A usable structure should be provided for easily fastening lock pieces 3 to and releasing them from the axial member and putting the axial member in and out without any extra operation(s). A simple fastening device 10 having a structure where (1) a lock piece 3 is forced by a spring 4 to engage with an axial member 6 in a case 1, (2) when the axial member 6 is being inserted into the case 1, the lock piece 3 moves back from the axial member 6 and later, the lock piece 3 is engaged with the axial member 6 to be fastened with the axial member, and (3) the releasing member 5 and the lock piece 3 are jointed together in such a manner that the releasing member 5 is provided in the case 1 so as to move linearly and thereby move back the lock piece 3 from the axial member 6.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2004Publication date: October 18, 2007Inventor: Yoshiharu Kitamura
