Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for moving an Iron Roughneck into position to allow making-up or breaking-out of threaded joints in a drill string. The apparatus may also be used to move other drilling equipment into position on the centerline of the well or at mouse holes. A self-balanced, dual synchronized parallelogram arm is utilized to accomplish the movement of the devices. Hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders are used for extension and retraction of the arm rather than to support the tool. The arm may hold the tool in any position without cylinder assistance. The linkage in the synchronized parallelogram may be accomplished by gears, links, slots, or rollers.

  • Publication number: 20070251730
Abstract: A rock head for use with an auger borer to bore a passageway through a body of soil and rock and simultaneously laying a pipe in that bored passageway. The rock head has a base connectable to the leading end of the auger. A plurality of movable mounts are provided on the base and a roller cone is secured to each movable mount. A spring is disposed between the movable mount and the base. The spring is compressed as the movable mount pivots the roller cones inwardly toward a central region of the base. This reduces the diameter of the rock head so that it can travel through the bore. Each movable mount is provided with at least one wheel so that it can ride smoothly through the bore. When the rock head exits the pipe, the springs automatically pivots each roller cone outwardly so that at least a portion thereof is disposed beyond the outermost edge of the base. In this second position, the rock head has a greater diameter than the pipe bore and therefore it cannot travel therethrough.

Abstract: An assistant ceiling device designed to shield an escape hatch installed to a ceiling of an elevator cab. The assistant ceiling device comprises two elongated rail (10) and a rectangular assistant ceiling plate (20). Each guide (10) is installed at either side of the emergency escape hatch (1), and has a length longer than that of the emergency escape hatch and shorter than that of the ceiling of the elevator cab. The assistant ceiling plate (20) is laid on the rail guides (10) to shield the emergency escape hatch (1). Each guide (10) has a latching jaw (12) so as to allow the assistant ceiling plate (20) to be installed to the rail guides (10) by laying both opposite sides of the ceiling plate on the latching jaws (12). Each guide (20) is formed, at an upper end, with a slot through which a heat of a bolt cannot pass, and with a guide recess (18) through which the head of the bolt can freely move.

Abstract: A bicycle brake mechanism includes a body located above a front wheel and a pivotable member is pivotably connected to the body. A hydraulic device is connected to the pivotable member so as to pivot the pivotable member. Two brake arms are located on two sides of the rim and two respective first ends of two link units are respectively connected to two ends of each of the brake arms. The two respective second ends of the links units are connected to two ends of the body. One end of each of the two brake arms is pushed by the pivotable member when the hydraulic device is activated so as to pull the pivotable member. The two link units make the two brake arms to be simultaneously moved to stop the rim.

Abstract: Manual braking system with a variable braking force for a wheelchair or other wheeled vehicles. Caliper type brakes positioned to mount on and exert braking force on disks mounted to interior “disk” hubs rotatably mounted to the wheelchair or wheeled vehicle frame wheel hubs are mated with the “disk” hubs with a push button release pin allowing the wheel to be quickly removed without disturbing disk braking system. Caliper brakes are actuated by a manual lever, cam, cable and pulley assembly mounted to the frame of the wheelchair or wheeled vehicle. Notches in a curved edge of the cam are positioned to receive a cylindrical sleeve bearing assembly mounted to the brake lever assembly. The force on the lever arm exerted by the sleeve bearing assembly is sufficient to hold it within a notch and prevent movement of the lever without manual force and allowing the user to maintain a manual braking force without the use of his hands.

Abstract: The strength and rigidity of pad springs are increased with a simple structure to prevent deformation and so forth of the pad springs caused by external force. A mounting member 1 is provided with pad springs 8 for resiliently supporting friction pads 7. Each pad spring 8 has guide plates 9, a connecting plate 10, an engagement plate 11, radially urging portions 12, circumferentially urging portions 13, reinforcement 15, etc. The reinforcement 15 includes a rectilinear reinforcement 15A formed on a flat plate portion 10A of the connecting plate 10 by embossing, for example, and oblique reinforcements 15B formed on joint portions 10B of the connecting plate 10. Thus, the joint portions 10B and so forth of the pad springs 8 can be prevented from being deformed by external force when the brake is activated or during assembling operation, for example, and hence it is possible to prevent positional displacement of the guide plates 9, etc. that would otherwise be caused by the deformation of the joint portions 10B.

Abstract: A clamp device inserted between two parts can prevent a relative movement between a brake disc and a brake caliper of a vehicle brake. The device includes two plates, with adjustable separation by way of at least two rollers running against each other and rolling on roller surfaces on facing inner sides of the plates. When the rollers are located in the region of a first section of the roller surfaces, the separation of the plates for bringing about clamping in an extended state is greater than the separation adopted by the plates to generate clamping in a withdrawn state when the rollers are located in the region of a second section of the roller surfaces. The position of the rollers relative to the roller surfaces may be altered by an actuator.
