Patent number: 7306736Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for preventing retrograde flow of fluid, e.g., blood products, into a source of sterile substitution fluid (50). The apparatus of the present invention includes a controllable pinch valve member (110) that is placed on a section of a conduit (90) which carries sterile substitution fluid to an extracorporeal circuit (30). In one embodiment, control over the valve member (110) is based on a control unit (120) using fluid pressures that are sensed upstream and downstream of the valve member (110) by upstream sensor (121) and downstream pressure (122) respectively. The valve member (110) is preferably opened only when the upstream pressure is greater than the downstream pressure. This assures that the substitution fluid flows only in a single direction when the pinch valve member (110) completely occludes the conduit (90) when in a closed position. Therefor, blood will not contaminate the sterile fluid by being drawn into the conduit (90) due to pressure differences.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2001Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Nephros, Inc.Inventors: Gregory R Collins, James Summerton, Edward Spence

Also the separated starch complex suitable for human or animal consumption alone or in combination with other food ingredients. In various embodiments, the products comprise (a) at least about 2000 mg/100 g, BDS, glutamic acid; and/or (b) at least about 2500 mg/100 g, BDS, aspartic acid; and/or (c) at least about 10 g/100 g, BDS, total protein.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2004Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Basic American, Inc.Inventors: Henry J. Patent number: 7306740Abstract: System and methods for collecting and preparing fat for autologous fat transplantation. The system includes a centrifuge, syringes, and filtering and transferring assemblies coupled with the syringes. Substances, including oil, fat, and denser substances (tumescent fluid, connective tissue, and other non-fat substances), are harvested into a syringe. A dye is provided or injected in the syringe. Centrifugation of the syringe stratifies the substances into a top oil stratum, a middle fat stratum, and a bottom denser substance stratum. A superficial layer of less viable fat tissue in the middle stratum is highlighted by the dye. Denser substances are filtered out of the syringes during centrifugation. Oil and the less viable fat tissue are removed through a port in the plunger head of the syringe plunger. More viable fat tissue is transferred into smaller syringes through an adapter in the assembly coupled with the syringe and the smaller syringes.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2004Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Lipose CorporationInventor: Robert M. Patent number: 7306741Abstract: A flexible, disposable centrifuge bag for receiving and holding a fluid sample, comprising one or more tubes and upper and lower flexible sheets having doughnut shaped configurations. The upper and lower sheets are superimposed and completely sealed together at their outer perimeters to define an outer perimeter of the centrifuge bag. The inner perimeter of the bag defines a central core. The tubes are sandwiched between the upper and lower sheets and extend from the central core of the centrifuge bag. The upper and lower sheets are sealed together at their inner perimeters such that the tubes are sealed between said upper and lower sheets at the inner perimeter. The bag may be used to harvest platelet rich plasma from whole blood in either a batch method or while simultaneously infusing additional aliquots of whole blood into the bag during centrifugation.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2004Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Medtronic, Inc.Inventors: Victor D. Patent number: 7306742Abstract: A template 1 is brought close to or in contact with a surface to be patterned 111 and patterns are formed with liquid 62 on the surface 111. This method comprises the steps of: bringing the template 1 close to or essentially in contact with the surface 111, supplying liquid 62 to a plurality of through holes 12 established in the pattern transfer region 10 of the template 1 for supplying the liquid 62, and separating the template 1 from the surface 111 after the liquid 62 is adhered to the surface 111 via the through holes 12.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2003Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Satoshi Nebashi, Takao Nishikawa, Tatsuya Shimoda

Patent number: 7306743Abstract: A recording medium includes a substrate, and a recording layer formed on the substrate having (a) a recording track band, and (b) recording cells regularly arrayed in the recording track band to form a plurality rows of sub-tracks. The recording cells included in each sub-track are formed apart from each other at a pitch P in the track direction. Nearest neighboring two recording cells, each positioned on adjacent two sub-tracks in the track band, are formed apart from each other at a pitch P/n in the track direction, where 2?n?5.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2006Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Hiroyuki Hieda, Masatoshi Sakurai, Koji Asakawa, Toshiro Hiraoka, Katsuyuki Naito

Patent number: 7306744Abstract: A method of manufacturing a nozzle plate 2 is disclosed. The nozzle plate 2 has a plurality of nozzle openings 22 through each of which a droplet is adapted to be ejected. The method includes the steps of: preparing a processing substrate (silicon substrate 10) constituted from silicon as a main material, the processing substrate having two major surfaces; providing a supporting substrate 50 for supporting the processing substrate onto one major surface of the processing substrate 50; and forming the plurality of nozzle openings 22 on the other major surface of the processing substrate by subjecting the other major surface of the processing substrate to an etching process while the processing substrate is supported by the supporting substrate 50.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2005Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Yoshihide Matsuo, Katsuji Arakawa

Patent number: 7306745Abstract: A workpiece is processed in a chamber by striking a plasma in the chamber, treating the workpiece by cyclically adjusting the processing parameters between at least a first step having a first set of processing parameters and a second step having a second set of process parameters, wherein the plasma is stabilized during the transition between the first and second steps. These steps may comprise cyclic etch and deposition steps. One possibility for stabilizing the plasma is by matching the impedance of the plasma to the impedance of the power supply which provides energy to the plasma, by means of a matching unit which can be controlled in a variety of ways depending upon the step type or time during the step. Another possibility is to prevent or reduce substantially variation in the pressure in the chamber between the first and second steps.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2000Date of Patent: December 11, 2007Assignee: Surface Technology Systems PLCInventors: Jyoti Kiron Bhardwaj, Leslie Michael Lea, Edward Guibarra
