Abstract: A system and method is provided for selecting a light source in a pointing device such as a mouse. The selection of the light source may be based on attributes of a received image, which are in turn based on reflected light received at the pointing device from the tracking surface. Because the attributes of the receive image are related to characteristics of the tracking surface over which the pointing device is moved, an illumination source appropriate for a particular surface type can be chosen.

In the high power state, a transmitter and light sources are activated, whereas both the transmitter and the light sources are deactivated in the low power state. Following a period of inactivity in which neither a key sensor for activatable keys nor a presence sensor for the user transmit input, the input device may convert from the high power state to the low power state to conserve energy. When the presence sensor detects the presence of the user, however, the input converts to the high power state wherein the transmitter and the light sources are activated.

Abstract: Techniques and tools for mesh processing are described. For example, a multi-chart geometry image represents arbitrary surfaces on object models. The multi-chart geometry image is created by resampling a surface onto a regular 2D grid, using a flexible atlas construction to map the surface piecewise onto charts of arbitrary shape. This added flexibility reduces parameterization distortion and thus provides greater geometric fidelity, particularly for shapes with long extremities, high genus, or disconnected components. As another example, zippering creates a watertight surface on reconstructed triangle meshes. The zippering unifies discrete paths of samples along chart boundaries to form the watertight mesh.

A primitive packet used in the bin is allowed to vary in length and the currently open type of primitive is recorded on a per-bin basis. A special code is used to specify a variable number of subsequent indices. Abstract: After CAD drawing data and drawing attribute data are registered in a data memory by a CAD drawing registering means, the CAD drawing data edited by a CAD drawing editing unit. At this time, it is confirmed whether the CAD drawing data is being edited by another operator or not based on a CAD flag of the CAD drawing data which is set in the drawing attribute data by an editing authority setting means. If the CAD drawing data is not being edited by another operator, then the CAD flag is set to acquire an editing authority, allowing only a particular editor to edit the CAD drawing data.

Abstract: A system and method for scaling a composite overlay image, wherein the composite overlay image comprises a plurality of pixels and each pixel comprises at least one color channel and at least one alpha channel, and further wherein at least one pixel of the composite overlay image has an alpha value of zero and a colour value that is not well defined. First, a set of pixels of the composite overlay image are identified as pixels to be dilated. The color channels of the identified pixels are then dilated to form dilated composite overlay image. Finally, the dilated composite overlay image is scaled.

Abstract: Multiplanar reformatting visualization is provided with multiple scrolling speeds. A plurality of buffers is provided. Each buffer stores composites of data from different planes. The amount of compositing to generate a total composite for a visualization may be less since the division into partial composites may reduce addition and subtraction or other compositing operations. One level of partial composite buffers may be used. The total is recomputed for each visualization. In other embodiments, a hierarchal buffer structure is used. For example, a total composite buffer is provided in addition to the partial composite buffers. By re-compositing the partial composites before and after adjustment for scrolling increment from the total composite buffer, the total composite is updated for scrolling. Two or more levels of buffers may be used.
