Abstract: A metal cable tie formed with an elongate metallic strap and a metallic locking head. The elongate metallic strap has a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The metallic locking head is secured to the first end of the metallic strap and comprises a strap entry face, a strap exit face, and a floor and a roof near the strap exit face for receiving the second end of the strap in order to form a closed ring structure. Moreover, a longitudinal slit and a metallic roller means are deployed between the strap entry face and the strap exit face of the metallic locking head in order to lockingly engage the metallic strap. A retention means extends from the roof of the metallic locking head to the strap exit face in order to captively hold the metallic roller means.

Abstract: The instant invention is a locking mechanism contained within a carabiner's straight or bent gate. The locking mechanism incorporates a pivoting link that can be moved to abut against a transverse pin, thereby immobilizing the gate return spring, which prevents opening movement of the gate. The transverse pin is a material able to resist and distribute forces attempting to open the locked gate. The spring pin is notched to engage the transverse pin thereby simplifying assembly of the carabiner. A low profile protrusion is pushed in the direction of opening the gate to switch the mechanism to the unlocked position. Similarly, another low profile protrusion is pushed in the direction of closing the gate to switch the mechanism to the locked position. The locking and unlocking protrusions are located adjacent the gate hinge so that the gate can be conveniently unlocked, opened, closed and relocked with the fingers of one hand.

Abstract: A yarn system, apparatus, and methods of reducing production loss or increasing production speed in a continuous yarn production process are provided. A yarn conveyor receives a bundle of yarn, an oven heats the yarn, and a yarn cooler cools the yarn exiting the oven to heat set the yarn. The conveyor carries the yarn through the oven and cooler. A counterband extends through the oven substantially parallel to and above the conveyor to abuttingly contact the yarn against the conveyor. The counterband is formed by hydrophobic fibers woven in a mesh pattern that form apertures to enhance flow of a heated fluid between the fibers. A cooling efficiency of the cooler is increased responsive to the hydrophobic fibers allowing the cooler to cool the yarn without moisture from the heated fluid being absorbed by the counterband.

Abstract: A hand-held band saw is provided for one-hand operation. The band saw has a frame and a handle extending from a longitudinal edge of the frame at an acute angle and opposite an edge containing a throat for receiving the work piece. The orientation of the handle centers the mass of the saw below the hand and positions the cutting section of the blade in a vertical plane so it will engage a work piece at a preferred angle selected by the user.

Abstract: A first position detection arrangement for a functional element (1) which can be positioned by a motor in a motor vehicle, a drive arrangement (2) being coupled via a drive train (3) to the functional element (1) and the functional element (1) thus being positionable by a motor, there being two incremental rotary transducers (4, 5) which are assigned to the drive train (3) and there being a control (6) which is coupled to the rotary transducers (4, 5). It is suggested that the arrangement is made such that, when the functional element (1) is being positioned, an offset arises between the rotary transducer signals of the two rotary transducers (4, 5), the control means (6) being designed such that it determines the absolute position of the functional element (1) from the offset.
