Abstract: A system and a method for determining a true acceleration and velocity of a locomotive and for controlling wheel slip and wheel skid of the locomotive is disclosed. The system, using accelerometers, can control the velocity of the wheels of the locomotive based on the comparison between a true locomotive velocity signal and a wheel velocity signal such that an actual tangential speed of the wheels is regulated to correspond to the true locomotive longitudinal velocity plus an allowance velocity for creepage. The accelerometer can also be used at the same time for impact detection purposes. Furthermore, if a set of accelerometers are used, the locomotive can also play a diagnostic role for track quality reporting in rail yards. The control of wheel slip and wheel is particularly useful in DC locomotive applications with individual axle control.

Abstract: An ECU cuts off a fuel supply to an engine when a vehicle is decelerating. The ECU sets the cancellation of the fuel supply cut-off based on the target idle speed of the engine such that the power transfer state is prevented from switching from an engine driven state to an engine drive state even if the fuel supply to the engine is restarted. When the running condition of the vehicle satisfies the cancellation condition, the ECU then cancels the fuel supply cut-off to restart the fuel supply to the engine.

Abstract: A Calibration Method for Air Intake Tracts for Internal Combustion Engines is disclosed. The method tunes the replacement cold air intake so that the Original Equipment Mass Airflow Sensor will function with the emissions control system without check engine light illumination. The method uses the exhaust effluent composition to benchmark the OEM intake system and then to match the cold air intake to that benchmark test result. The method could use the exhaust effluent composition for calibration as well as verification, or the method could use Sensor signal output for calibration and then exhaust effluent composition for verification of the design specification.

Abstract: A method of transporting inventory items includes receiving a route request from a mobile drive unit. The route request identifies a destination location within a workspace. The workspace includes at least one cell associated with a first cell attribute and at least one cell that is not associated with the first cell attribute. The method includes determining a state of the mobile drive unit. The method also includes generating a path to the destination location for the mobile drive unit that traverses cells associated with the first cell attribute, in response to determining that the mobile drive unit is associated with a first state. The method includes generating a path to the destination location for the mobile drive unit that does not traverse cells associated with the first cell attribute, in response to determining the mobile drive unit is not associated with the first state. The method further includes transmitting the path to the mobile drive unit.

Abstract: A method for moving one or more mobile drive units within a workspace includes receiving, from a first mobile drive unit, a reservation request requesting use of a first path segment to move in a first direction. The method further includes determining that a second mobile drive unit is currently located on the first path segment and determining whether the second mobile drive unit is moving in the first direction. Additionally, the method includes transmitting a reservation response indicating that the reservation request is denied, in response to determining that the second mobile drive unit is not moving in the first direction. The method also includes transmitting a reservation response indicating that the reservation request is granted, in response to determining that the second mobile drive unit is moving in the first direction.

Abstract: A bearing calculator provided with a geomagnetic sensor for detecting earth-geomagnetism and a control unit for calculating a geographical bearing based on detection values of the geomagnetic sensor. The control unit can execute offset error correction processing for correcting the offset error to the geomagnetic sensor based on a change in the magnetic field inside the bearing calculator. When detection values of the geomagnetic sensor enter an abnormal state, it performs said offset error correction processing when the abnormal state continues for a predetermined time, while does not perform the offset error correction processing when the abnormal state ends within a predetermined time.

Abstract: An in-vehicle controller of the invention is a so-called drive recorder. The drive recorder is incorporated in a steering ECU (controller) 10. For this purpose, the controller 10 is provided with function implementation units which includes a memory 22 as a data logging section, a memory controlling section 23, a threshold judging section 24 and a data-transfer timing output section 25. Vehicle information and steering information are stored in a first memory 221 in chronological order. A second memory 222 logs data recorded in a tens-second period before and after a moment when vehicle acceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold. The information logged by the second memory 222 is transferred to a hard disk of a navigation unit 30 in a predetermined timing.

Abstract: Provided is a mapping application that displays detailed data information as a function of multiple sets of layered data. When portions of at least two sets of layered data overlap, a set operation is applied to the overlapping portions to create a new set of layered data. The set operation allows the sets of layered data to be modified utilizing a simple function, such as by dragging and dropping a set of layered data to a different portion of the map area. When the portions no longer overlap, the set operation is removed, rendering the sets of layered data in their original format.

Abstract: An information center device computes a guided route. It selects a newly opened road connecting to the guided route and traces the newly opened road from the connection point to a point at which the newly opened road intersects another road. Then, it determines block maps containing the traced newly opened road as those to be transmitted to the automobile navigation system. Therefore, the automobile navigation system can utilize block maps containing the newly opened road connected to the guided route as well as block maps associated with the guided route. As a result, the user can get information on where the newly opened road leads and connects, and easily deviate from the guided route and select a route going through the newly opened road at his/her own will.
