  • Patent number: 7343685
Abstract: A thread checking apparatus and method for threaded bores in small plastic parts, in which a threaded tap is mounted to rotate on a fixed axis at a workstation, the workstation having guide structure associated with the rotating tap to slidingly engage and guide a part with a threaded bore onto a free outer end of the rotating tap. The rotating tap draws the part down the length of the tap in sliding, rotation-preventing engagement with the guide structure, until the part's threaded bore is fully verified and chased, at which point the part engages a reversing limit switch to automatically reverse the rotation of the tap and drive the chased and verified part back off the tap.

  • Patent number: 7343704
Abstract: Illuminated warning signs of familiar shapes employ back lighting through letters of smoked translucent plastic or glass. The back lighting is produced by incandescent lights or light emitting diodes located behind the letters. Thus, for example, in daylight a stop sign will appear to have black or white letters in contrast to the red background of the stop sign, but at night the letters will glow. Since warning signs provide shape to indicate the nature of the warning, the perimeter of the sign is likewise caused to glow brightly by providing one or a plurality of light pipes illuminated by lamps or a plurality of light emitting diodes. Thus, the combination of the word and the perimeter glowing brightly make clear the nature of the warning despite the sign being otherwise obscured.

  • Patent number: 7343707
Abstract: A gunsight reticle defines a system of dimensioned indicia spaced at specific separations to improve aiming accuracy of a gun. The indicia may include perpendicularly intersecting center vertical and center horizontal hairlines, and four (or more or less) horizontal range-marker lines disposed at specific angular separations below the horizontal hairline in bisected relationship with the center vertical hairline. Spacing of the range marker lines below the center horizontal hairline is proportional to bullet drop at selected ranges, depending upon ballistic characteristics of bullet used. Relative lengths of said range-marker bars on each side of the central vertical crosshair are proportional to a specific crosswind (say 10 mph) at target range reflected by respective range marker. The method involves employing this reticle to determine distance to target, and using distance thus determined to ascertain a precise aiming point on the reticle.

  • Patent number: 7343709
Abstract: A spring loaded line recoil device which automatically rewinds the line which secures the release clip on a telescoping outrigger when the telescoping outrigger pole is collapsed. Balanced spring assemblies automatically recoil the fishing line on outrigger release clip onto a spool. As one spring assembly increases pressure, the other spring assembly produces pressure to maintain uniform tension on the line holding release clip. The retraction device attaches to the base of an outrigger. When the telescoping outrigger pole is collapsed, the spring assemblies recoil the outrigger line onto a spool. When the telescoping outrigger pole is extended, the position of release clip arm on the outrigger can be moved without changing the overall tension on the line securing the release clip arm due to the counter balanced spring pressure.

Food is dispensed from the automated dispensing device to an automated fry device that can include at least one circular fry wheel having a plurality of food containing compartments. After the food is fried it is dispensed from the fry device to an automated packaging device. The automated packaging device dispenses food to a container that may be an individual portion-sized container that is retrieved, erected and held into position for filling by an automated container handling system.

Abstract: A capping device fits caps onto containers by applying an axial force to the caps as they are threaded onto the containers. The capping device utilizes a spindle rotatable about an operational axis for imparting rotation to a capper unit. A connector coupled to the capper unit is releasably coupled to the spindle by a quick release mechanism. The quick release mechanism is normally biased in the locked position and is configured to automatically move from the unlocked position back to the locked position when the connector mates with the spindle as a user re-connects the capping unit back to the spindle. Methods of releasing and re-connecting the capping unit to the spindle are also disclosed.

Abstract: A debris cutting system for attachment to a vehicle. The system includes a nose shaped projection that extends horizontally in the forward direction from the forward moving end of the vehicle. The projection includes a front blade mount subsystem, a pair of rear blade mount subsystems, and left and right blades that are mounted within the front blade mount subsystem and respective ones of the rear blade mount subsystems. Each blade has a respective blade front, blade rear and teeth. The front blade mount subsystem provides vertical movement at the front of the blades, the rear blade mount subsystems provide vertical and longitudinal movement at the rear of the blades such that cutting of debris is enhanced and potential damage to the blades is reduced as the vehicle moves forward.

Abstract: A harvesting machine with a discharge assembly for the transfer of harvested crop to a transport vehicle includes an actuator that is adapted to move the discharge assembly about a horizontal axis, thereby adjusting the height of the outlet end of the discharge assembly. A stop element can be moved between an active position and an inactive position. In the active position, the stop element limits the range of movement of the actuator such that the discharge assembly cannot be moved to a position that is lower than a lowest active position. In the inactive position, the stop element does not limit the range of movement of the actuator, thus the discharge assembly can be moved to a position that is lower than the lowest active position. Therefore, the discharge assembly remains above the lowest active position during the harvesting operation.

The cutter blade has air lifting sections disposed at opposite end portions thereof for producing carrier air during rotation of the cutter blade. The cutter housing has a grass clipping delivery passage for directing grass clippings to the grass bag with the carrier air produced by the air lifting sections of the cutter blade, and an exhaust air return passage for returning only the carrier air, as exhaust air, from the grass bag to the cutter housing. The grass clipping delivery passage extends in a front-and-rear direction of the cutter housing. The exhaust air return passage is disposed adjacent to and extends substantially perpendicular to the grass clipping delivery passage.

Abstract: A tool for aiding master link removal from a chain. The master link includes two pins and a clip with two ends extending from one pin to the other. The chain includes plates, pins, and rollers. The chain has a longitudinal direction along the length of the chain. The tool includes a support member, a plurality of coupler legs, and two pry posts. The coupler legs extend from the support member and are sized to fit between adjacent chain rollers. The legs, combined with the support member, bridge across the master link to hold it secure relative to the pry posts. The pry posts extend from the support member laterally offset from the coupler legs. The pry posts are generally laterally adjacent the ends of the clip when the coupler legs are secured to the chain.

Abstract: A combustion chamber/supersonic nozzle assembly is cooled by an array of coolant channels in the wall of the assembly with coolant being fed to the assembly at the throat plane between the subsonic (convergent) and supersonic (divergent) sections. A minor portion of the coolant entering at the throat plane is directed to coolant channels in the supersonic section wall, while the remainder is directed to a complex arrangement of channels in the subsonic section wall. The latter arrangement includes an outer layer of wide axially oriented channels for delivery of coolant to, and removal from, an inner layer of smaller, circumferentially oriented channels that are adjacent to the hot gas and carry the bulk of the coolant load. The path of coolant travel through each inner channel is relatively short, lessening the pressure drop through those channels relative to coolant channel arrangements of the prior art.

Abstract: A method for monitoring the efficiency of a catalyst includes providing an oxygen sensor between an engine and the catalyst to generate an output signal indicative of oxygen content. The output signal is sampled to provide a first value indicative of the oxygen content of untreated exhaust. The exhaust is allowed to flow through the catalyst to produce treated exhaust and then the treated exhaust is caused to flow back to the oxygen sensor. The output signal is again sampled to provide a second value indicative of the oxygen content of treated exhaust. The second value is compared to the first value to provide an indication of the efficiency of the catalyst.
