Abstract: An image process for determining whether an image is foggy determines a shape of a road for driving of a vehicle in an image captured by an onboard camera based on white road line recognition. Based on the road shape, the process determines, in the image, a distant road area on the road for driving at a specified distance from the vehicle. The process processes, of the entire image captured by the camera, an image portion corresponding to the distant road area to determine whether an image is foggy. Thus, a load on image processing decreases compared with analysis of the entire image. The distant road area is located on the road at the specified distance far from the vehicle in the image. Generally, a road continues in the distance. Since the corresponding area possibly captures a distant part, the fog determination accuracy can be ensured.

Abstract: A label applicator system, upon detection of a bad label, moves a peel plate away from a platen roller and towards a take-up spool to increase the angle between the path of the liner toward the peel plate and the path of the liner away from the peel plate. The angle increases sufficiently to prevent the bad label from separating from the liner. The movement of the peel plate is approximately parallel to the movement of a tamp pad for moving and affixing a good label to a package. Because the processing of the bad label does not reduce tension in the liner to drop the liner into the path of the tamp pad and the movement of the peel plate does not cross into the tamp pad path, movement of the tamp pad is not hindered by the bad label processing.

The composites employ new and improved support film systems that have enhanced tensile strength under typical thermoforming conditions, including elevated temperatures. An optional release film can be used in conjunction with the support film. The support film is particularly suitable for use with decorative films used to impart a surface effect, such as paint or color-containing film systems, to a thermoformed plastic component. The support film systems also possess enhanced bag/sag/drape control characteristics.

Abstract: A composite wood product and its method of manufacture. The wood product comprises aligned, substantially straight wood strands cut from veneer, disposed side by side lengthwise in substantially parallel relationship with adhesive bonding together the strands. The product is produced in a billet having a width in the range of about 3 ft. to 12 ft. and with a thickness in the range of about 1.1 inches to 2 inches. The strand ends are distributed in a specific pattern that approximates maximizing the minimum distance between strand ends. The wide sides of the billet are coated with a dark colored resin. The billet may be sawn lengthwise into sizes used for joists and rafters. Such a sawn product (e.g. 1.5? by 9.25?) has the wide sides a dark resin color and the narrow sawn sides mostly wood colored. The strands are parallel to its length.

Abstract: A plasma reactor with plasma confinement and plasma radial distribution capability. The reactor comprises a reactor chamber including a side wall and a workpiece support pedestal in the chamber and defining a pumping annulus between the pedestal and side wall and a pumping port at a bottom of the pumping annulus. The reactor further comprises a means for confining gas flow in an axial direction through the pumping annulus to prevent plasma from flowing to the pumping port. The reactor further comprises a means for compensating for asymmetry of gas flow pattern across the pedestal arising from placement of the pumping port. The reactor further comprises a means for controlling plasma distribution having an inherent tendency to promote edge-high plasma density distribution. The means for confining gas flow is depressed below the workpiece support sufficiently to compensate for the edge-high plasma distribution tendency of the means for controlling plasma distribution.

Abstract: A process chamber is provided for an etching apparatus that etches a substrate, such as a liquid crystal display (LCD) substrate, using plasma. The process chamber may include a chamber body, in one wall of which a gate slit is formed, a rotary inner door that opens and closes an inner opening of the gate slit, and a door driving mechanism that rotates the inner door. When the substrate is etched, the inner door is closed preventing an interior of the chamber body from communicating with the gate slit. Thereby, a space in which the plasma is formed may be maintained symmetrical, so that the plasma may be uniformly distributed in an interior of the chamber body.
