    Abstract: A Reconfigurable Nose Control System (RNCS) is designed to adjust the flight path of spin-stabilized artillery projectiles. The RNCS uses the surface of a projectile nose cone as a trim tab. The nose cone may be despun by the action of aerodynamic surfaces, to zero spin relative to earth fixed coordinates using local air flow, and deflected by a simple rotary motion of a Divert Motor about the longitudinal axis of the projectile. A forward section of the nose cone having an ogive is mounted at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the projectile, forming an axial offset of an axis of the forward section with respect to the longitudinal axis of the projectile. Another section of the nose cone includes another motor, the Roll Generator Motor, that is rotationally decoupled from the forward section and rotates the deflected forward section so that its axis may be pointed in any direction within its range of motion.

    Abstract: Methods and systems that provide privacy of signatures on envelopes containing ballots are provided. The envelope for returning ballots includes a flap with a window that aligns with a signature area on the envelope. The window appears opaque under normal lighting conditions, but appears transparent when illuminated with light having a predetermined wavelength. A movable signature stub is positioned on top of the signature area. The voter signs the back of the envelope on the signature stub, thereby imprinting a signature on the signature area by transferring a material from the signature stub to the signature area, and moves the signature stub. The flap of the envelope is then sealed, thereby covering the voter's signature in the signature area with the window of the envelope flap. To read the signature, light having the predetermined wavelength can be directed onto the window, thereby rendering the window transparent and the signature visible.

    Abstract: An apparatus adapted to disseminate volatile liquid, such as an insecticide or a fragrance, into an atmosphere, the apparatus comprising a reservoir containing volatile liquid and a liquid transfer member adapted to have contact with both liquid and atmosphere, the transfer member being slideable within a liquid-impermeable sleeve and having a liquid-impermeable lower end, the liquid-impermeable lower end and liquid-impermeable sleeve combining, when the transfer member is in a raised position, to deny access of the liquid to the transfer member, the transfer member being held in the raised position by suitable releasable locking means that, when released, allows the transfer member to be moved with respect to the sleeve to a lowered position in liquid transfer contact with the liquid. The apparatus is convenient to use and leakproof, and it permits liquid dissemination to be stopped and started at will.
