Abstract: The present invention relates to a curved rear pressure bulkhead (1) made of a composite material, comprising three layers: an outer layer (2) and an inner layer (3) symmetrical with one another, which are made of a fiber laminate, and the intermediate layer or core (4) made of a lightweight material. With such a sandwich-type shape, the resulting bulkhead (1) is able to withstand the bending loads coming from the strain and pressurization of the fuselage without having to increase its stiffness by means of using some type of stiffener. The bulkhead (1) comprises a ring (6) that is attached to the ends of the sandwich shape. This ring (6) is split into several parts (8) to facilitate the assembly of the bulkhead (1) made of composite material to the fuselage skin (5).

The polychromatic color sensor generates a plurality of analog signals from a corresponding plurality of color channels based on a detected ambient light signal. The ADC is coupled to the polychromatic color sensor. The ADC converts the plurality of analog signals to a plurality of digital signals. The digital processor is coupled to the ADC. The digital processor generates a processed light signal. The processed light signal describes a characteristic of the detected ambient light signal. Embodiments of the ALS system provide a more comprehensive characterization of the ambient light, and facilitate control of a device based on the characterization of the ambient light.

Abstract: A logarithmic response digital pixel sensor comprises a linear light detecting unit, an exponential producer, a counting unit, a comparator and a memory unit. The logarithmic response digital pixel sensor is used for detecting light via the linear light detecting unit for producing a linear analogy detecting signal. The exponential producer is used for providing an exponential reference signal. The comparator is used for comparing the linear analogy detecting signal with the exponential reference signal and outputting a comparison result to the memory unit. The memory unit is used for producing a logarithmic response digital signal by processing the comparison result and a count reference signal provided from the counting unit. Thereby, the present invention improves upon the drawbacks of the traditional logarithmic response analogy image sensor, and simplifies the design of the back image sensor processing circuit.

Abstract: A photo detector IC (PDIC) is connected with a flexible printed circuit board (FPC). A signal converted into a voltage through light-to-voltage conversion in the PDIC is connected with the drain of a field effect transistor (FET), while the source of the FET is connected to an output terminal. A signal from the output terminal is input into a signal processing board of the main body via the FPC serving as an equivalent circuit composed of a coil and a capacitor. The gate of the FET is connected with a variable voltage source. Peaking occurs due to inductor components and capacitance components of the FPC. However, by application of voltage to the variable voltage source, the gate voltage value of the FET is adjusted to be an optimal value, whereby the peaking is suppressed by the on-resistance of the FET.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems of scanning a target for potential threats using the energy spectra of photons scattered from the target to determine the spatial distributions of average atomic number and/or mass in the target. An exemplary method comprises: illuminating each of a plurality of voxels of the target with a photon beam; determining an incident flux upon each voxel; measuring the energy spectrum of photons scattered from the voxel; determining, using the energy spectrum, the average atomic number in the voxel; and determining the mass in the voxel using the incident flux, the average atomic number of the material in the voxel, the energy spectrum, and a scattering kernel corresponding to the voxel. An exemplary system may use threat detection heuristics to determine whether to trigger further action based upon the average atomic number and/or mass of the voxels.

Abstract: The present invention provides an optical device that is miniature, is highly sensitive and has a simplified package, and a manufacturing method thereof with high production efficiency and high reliability. The present invention is an optical device comprising: a photoelectric conversion element (50) having at least one photoelectric conversion portion (1) which is formed on a substrate (10); a sealing material (14); and a connection terminal (3). The optical device comprises an optical window which is an interface between the photoelectric conversion element (50) and an outside of the optical device; and an aperture (6) formed in the sealing material 14, and whose bottom face is the optical window. An entire face of the optical window is exposed to the outside. An optical adjustment element (13) may be formed on the interface. In this case, the interface between the optical adjustment element (13) and the outside is the optical window.

Abstract: High-resolution, scalable multi-touch sensing display systems and processes based on frustrated total internal reflection employ an optical waveguide that receives light, such as infrared light, that undergoes total internal reflection and an imaging sensor that detects light that escapes the optical waveguide caused by frustration of the total internal reflection due to contact by a user. The optical waveguide may be fitted with a compliant surface overlay to greatly improve sensing performance, minimize the affect of contaminants on and damage to the contact surface, to generally extend system life and to provide other benefits. The systems and processes provide true multi-touch (multi-input) and high-spatial and temporal resolution capability due to the continuous imaging of the frustrated total internal reflection that escapes the entire optical waveguide.
