Publication number: 20080181214Abstract: A plurality of memory devices of mixed type (e.g., DRAMs, SRAMs, MRAMs, and NAND-, NOR- and AND-type Flash memories) are serially interconnected. Each device has device type information on its device type. A specific device type (DT) and a device identifier (ID) contained in a serial input (SI) as a packet are fed to one device of the serial interconnection. The device determines whether the fed DT matches the DT of the device. In a case of match, a calculator included in the device performs calculation to generate an ID for another device and the fed ID is latched in a register of the device. In a case of no-match, the ID generation is skipped and no ID is generated for another device. The DT is combined with the generated or the received ID depending on the device type match determination. The combined DT and ID is as a packet transferred to a next device. Such a device type match determination and ID generation or skip are performed in all devices of the several interconnection.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 28, 2007Publication date: July 31, 2008Applicant: MOSAID TECHNOLOGIES INCORPORATEDInventors: Hong Beom Pyeon, HakJune Oh, Jin-Ki Kim, Shuji Sumi

Publication number: 20080181216Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for an optimized mobile-IPv6 encapsulation. A mobile node sends packets to a correspondent node by encapsulating a packet using an IPv6 routing extension header, and reverse tunneling the packet to a home agent. The home agent modifies the packet and forwards it to the correspondent node. When the correspondent node sends packets to the mobile node's home address, the home agent intercepts the packet, encapsulates the packet with an IPv6 routing extension header, and tunnels the packet to the mobile node. Consequently, because packets are tunneled using IPv6 routing extension headers, the amount of overhead in each encapsulated packet is reduced, thus increasing the available bandwidth in a network.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2007Publication date: July 31, 2008Applicant: Sprint Spectrum L.P.Inventors: Jeremy R. Publication number: 20080181221Abstract: A technique is disclosed for controlling data packet transmissions from a server to a client having a client buffer in accordance with a waiting mode and a dynamic mode. The waiting mode is performed before packets containing data encoded subject to a current bit rate have reached the client buffer; the dynamic mode is performed otherwise. In the waiting mode, down-switches to lower bit rates are allowed but up-switches to higher bit rates are disabled. In the dynamic mode, up-switches and down-switches are both allowed, with adjustments in the bit rate of packets controlled based, in part, on the amount of data contained within the client buffer when packets containing data encoded subject to the current bit rate first reached the client buffer. The two modes help avoid unnecessary rate switches.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2005Publication date: July 31, 2008Inventors: Markus Kampmann, Christoph Plum

Publication number: 20080181256Abstract: A switched digital video distribution infrastructure for selectively distributing transport streams each composed of encoded pictures for decoding and presentation employs a source apparatus to output a first program to a requesting destination device as a constrained bit rate transport stream, receive a program change request from the requesting destination device, and in response to the program change request, output a second program both as an unconstrained variable bit rate stream and as a constrained bit rate transport stream. The requesting destination device decodes the unconstrained variable bit rate transport stream, loads the second program's constrained bit rate transport stream into a decoder buffer until the decoder buffer contains sufficient data to allow the pictures of the second program's constrained bit rate transport stream to be decoded without the decoder buffer running dry.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2007Publication date: July 31, 2008Applicant: GENERAL INSTRUMENT CORPORATIONInventors: Mayer D. Publication number: 20080181257Abstract: A method and a communication bus are provided having nodes. Each of the nodes includes a transmitting element to transmit data to another node on the bus, and a receiving element to receive information from another node on the bus. A communication channel is between the transmitting and receiving elements within each node, a transmitter state machine logic controls the synchronisation of the transmitting element, and a receiving state machine logic to control the synchronisation of the receiving element. A storage area maintains the status of synchronisation of the bus. Communication data is synchronised via a bus connecting first and second nodes. A plurality of encoded bytes, each encoded byte represented as a 10 bit code, is transmitted from the first node. The second node receives and decodes the bytes, where any decoding errors in a byte are detected. A synchronised status is indicated.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2007Publication date: July 31, 2008Inventors: Tim Addy, Markku Vainikka, Timo Viero, William Brockington, Markku Vahataini

Publication number: 20080181258Abstract: A transmission device which selects all or a part of streams from among input streams and then transmits the selected streams, and includes a measuring section and an output control signal generating section. The measuring section inputs an output timing reference signal and an output reference clock required in outputting a stream, detects a time when the output timing reference signal indicates the start of output, and predicts a period in which an output transmission clock to be generated is to be paused. The output control signal generating unit N-frequency-divides (N is an integer of 2 or more) an output reference clock, generates an output transmission clock, and outputs an output timing signal having a predetermined phase correlation with an output transmission clock.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2007Publication date: July 31, 2008Applicant: KABUSHIKI KAISHA TOSHIBAInventor: Kenji Tomizawa
