Publication number: 20080185452Abstract: In an expansion valve, in a first passage through which a high pressure liquid refrigerant flows, an inlet port includes a large diameter passage portion formed from one side surface to the other side surface of a valve body, and a small diameter passage portion that provides communication between the large diameter passage portion on the bottom end thereof and a valve chamber. A coil spring provided in the valve chamber biases a valve member toward a valve hole. An O ring that seals between a plug that supports a lower end of the coil spring and the valve body is located below the small diameter passage portion and placed on the opposite side of the bottom end of the large diameter passage. Thus, the plug that closes an opening of the valve chamber can be mounted to an upper position, thereby reducing a vertical size of the valve body to further reduce a size of the valve body, and reducing an amount of use of metal materials for the valve body to reduce weight and cost.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2008Publication date: August 7, 2008Inventors: Kazuto Kobayashi, Takashi Mogi

Publication number: 20080185473Abstract: A winding procedure has been developed that results in substantially uniform material properties from the outside diameter to the core of a wound roll of elastomeric webs produced by vertical film lamination (VFL) or stretch bond lamination (SBL) or as registered film. The web material is wound onto the roll in accordance with a wound on tension (WOT) profile that varies with the diameter of the wound web in a manner that was calculated using WOT transposition that is based on a modified version of Hakiel's nonlinear model for wound roll stresses. A constant WOT winding profile is corrected to obtain a compensated WOT winding profile that can be employed to wind the material into a roll that exhibits properties (including MD stress in the web) that are substantially uniform thru-roll. This resulting controlled winding technique has immediate application for webs that are converted for child care products, adult care products, and infant care products.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2007Publication date: August 7, 2008Applicant: KIMBERLY-CLARK WORLDWIDE, INC.Inventors: Neal Jay Michal, Balaja Kovil-Kandadai, Robert James Coxe

Publication number: 20080185475Abstract: A solar-powered aircraft uses solar energy to electrolyze on-board water to produce hydrogen. The hydrogen fills various on-board tanks, causing the aircraft to become lighter than air. The hydrogen is also used to operate a fuel cell which provides power for electrical equipment, including a motor for turning a propeller. Water produced as waste by the fuel cell is recycled for use in the production of hydrogen. When hydrogen is removed from the tanks, either because it is consumed by the fuel cell or because it is compressed and pumped out of the tanks, air returns to the tanks, and the aircraft becomes heavier than air. The aircraft can thus be made to climb and descend by making it lighter than air, or heavier than air. The aircraft emits no harmful substances into the environment. The aircraft can remain aloft indefinitely, limited only by an insignificant amount of leakage of hydrogen and water.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2007Publication date: August 7, 2008Inventor: Howard J. Publication number: 20080185495Abstract: A method of joining panels of foam material such that edges are compressed into panel surfaces to provide a secured and effectively sealed structure is disclosed. Panels in an orthogonal relationship to each other, which are made of foam (or other materials not intended to be load bearing) can be joined by compressing the outer side of one of the panels into the edge surface of an adjoining panel. This is done using two plates, one resting on the outer side of the first panel, and one inserted into the side of the second panel, where the plates are connected by a bolt, screw or wire under tension.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2007Publication date: August 7, 2008Inventor: Michael Goncharko

Publication number: 20080185496Abstract: The invention relates to a support construction (1) for fabrication equipment of microscopic structures, comprising a monolithic foundation body (3) on which, for fixing the fabrication equipment, a fixing element (6) is provided comprising a resilient element. The fixing element further comprises a rigid element (10) whose rigidity decreases significantly when applying a dynamic force to the fixing element which force exceeds a predetermined threshold value. The support construction is further designed such that, regardless of the size of the dynamic force applied to the fixing element, a static force applied to the fixing element is substantially transmitted via the resilient element to the foundation body.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 20, 2005Publication date: August 7, 2008Applicant: MECAL APPLIED MECHANICS B.V.Inventors: Anton Herrius De Roest, Marco Jan Antoni Freriksen
