  • Patent number: 7414149
Abstract: The non-routine (e.g., emergency) shutdown of a chemical reaction process is achieved by a method of safely operating a chemical reaction process which comprises the steps of detecting an undesirable condition capable of affecting the process, minimizing the reaction of the reactants, and maintaining a flow of materials through the reaction zones of the process such that the reaction mixture is displaced from the reaction zones. The flow of materials may be maintained for a period of time such that the substantially all of the reaction mixture is displaced from the reaction zones, thereby flushing the reaction zones. The reaction mixture may then be purged to an ancillary vessel, such as an absorber.

  • Patent number: 7414167
Abstract: The average propylene cycle yield of an oxygenate to propylene (OTP) process using a dual-function oxygenate conversion catalyst is substantially enhanced by the use of a combination of: 1) moving bed reactor technology in the catalytic OTP reaction step in lieu of the fixed bed technology of the prior art; 2) a separate heavy olefin interconversion step using moving bed technology and operating at an inlet temperature at least 15° C. higher than the maximum temperature utilized in the OTP reaction step; 3) C2 olefin recycle to the OTP reaction step; and 4) a catalyst on-stream cycle time of 700 hours or less. These provisions hold the build-up of coke deposits on the catalyst to a level which does not substantially degrade dual-function catalyst activity, oxygenate conversion and propylene selectivity, thereby enabling maintenance of average propylene cycle yield for each cycle near or at essentially start-of-cycle levels.

The instrument bracket can be fastened on the post via a fastener and is able to be embedded in a cylindrical bore of a trombone to hold the trombone in position. Eventually, the portable trombone stand can be put into a cylindrical bore of a trombone, then put the portable trombone stand and the trombone into a case altogether. In this manner, the trombonist can conveniently carry the box to move around.

  • Patent number: 7414186
Abstract: A system and method of teaching musical notes are adapted to teach identification of music staff notes, the names and sounds of notes, as well as piano keys corresponding to notes. An implementation of the method entails displaying a musical keyboard having a plurality of keys, a musical staff and a note on the staff. One of the plurality of keys corresponds to the note. The corresponding key produces a sound corresponding to the note when played. The name of the note is pronounced by a narrator or some other character. The note is visually identified on the staff by the narrator or some other character. The note is also associated with the corresponding key. Association may entail generating a note character and associating the note character with the note and key. A sound corresponding to the corresponding key is played.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for synthesizing a MIDI based on a wave table are provided. According to the method, sound samples of a plurality of instruments stored in a wave table are compressed and stored so as to reduce the storage space required by the wave table. Bit streams for the samples are decoded to synthesize a MIDI when a specific instrument's sound samples are requested.

  • Patent number: 7414190
Abstract: A NID includes a base defining an interior cavity and a protective outer cover attached to the base for movement between an opened position and a closed position. At least one of the base and the outer cover has one or more channels formed therein and the other of the base and the outer cover has one or more lips that depend outwardly therefrom. Each lip is received within a corresponding channel formed on the other of the base and the outer cover. The lip and the channel have side portions that engage at multiple contact points to form an environmental seal that prevents contaminants, such as wind-driven dust, sand and moisture, from entering the interior cavity when the outer cover is in the closed position, thereby protecting communications equipment within the NID without the use of an elastomeric gel, seal or gasket.
