Abstract: Fuel injectors having control passages with relatively large volumes may have limited responsiveness. The injector described herein may help to reduce the control passage volume and improve responsiveness by providing a chamber for receiving a fluid, a control valve, a flow passage, and an insert. The control valve may be moveable between a first position and a second position. The flow passage may extend between the control valve and the chamber, and the flow passage may define a first volume. The insert may be located within the flow passage, and the insert may occupy a second volume. The placement of the insert within the flow passage reduces the volume of the flow passage that is available to receive the fluid to a third volume equal to the first volume less the second volume.

Abstract: Disclosed is a high-pressure accumulator injection system (10) for an internal combustion engine, preferably a diesel engine. Said injection system (10) comprises a number of injection valves (18) which are connected to a high-pressure conveying device (12) via fuel pipes (16, 14). A reservoir (22) and a check valve encompassing a bypass throttle (24) that is connected in parallel are assigned to each injection valve (18). Said check valve which is assigned to each injection valve (18) and encompasses a bypass throttle (24) that is connected in parallel allows the accumulator injection system (10) to perform stable and reproducible injection processes with a favorable pressure curve during each injection process even when the discrete reservoirs (22) are provided with an unusually low volume. The reservoirs (22) can be integrated in the housing of the injection valves (18). The inventive injection system dispenses with the need for a complex common rail.

Abstract: A pedicure pedestal assembly is formed as a foldable frame. A foot support member is located between the legs of a U-shaped frame member and attached thereto at an intermediate location thereof. A pivotable frame member is pivotably attached to the U-shaped frame member at a location above the foot support member so as to form the free-standing foldable pedestal frame assembly when in an open position. A work station platform is pivotably attached on each side to the legs between the foot support member and the pivotable frame attachment. The work station platform has spaced-apart parallel notches for adjustable engagement with a transverse member attached to the pivotable frame member, such that when the pedestal frame assembly is opened, the work station platform is oriented in a horizontal orientation. The foot support has a heel rest portion and a height adjustable toe rest member.

Abstract: A device mounting platform apparatus having a reconfigurable biasing mechanism. The device mounting platform apparatus includes a frame member capable of being mounted in a vehicle and having a device mounting surface facing generally upward. A clamp member is slidably interconnected to the frame member along a first direction. A biasing mechanism is coupled between the frame and clamp members. The biasing mechanism is reconfigurable for urging a jaw portion of the clamp member along the first direction heading either toward or away from the frame member. The biasing mechanism is thus reconfigurable for either urging the clamp member open or urging it closed. A plurality of different jaw portions are interchangeably coupleable to the frame and clamp members in opposing relationship across the device mounting surface of the frame.

Abstract: Preventing air leakage in a recessed lighting fixture. A plaster frame extends between hanger bars fastened to ceiling supports or joists. The plaster frame includes an aperture sized to receive a can. The can includes a pair of slots. A pair of retention springs are coupled to the plaster frame, on opposite sides of the aperture. Each retention spring is associated with one of the slots of the can. Each retention spring includes a base member and an elongated engaging member extending from an end of the base member. The elongated engaging member has a surface that has a contour corresponding to an outer profile of the can, proximate the slot. For example, a radius of curvature of the surface can correspond to a radius of curvature of the can. Thus, the retention springs engage the can in a substantially air-tight manner.
